Black or White (2014)
Why filmmakers? Why?
For some reason & it's been that way for awhile I always get excited for Kevin Costner films, three days to kill, no way out (old movie I know) but this one I knew I should'be pass on from start to finish it became less about a black or white thing versus how everyone around the girl were idiots, her grandmother, grandfather etc even the extras annoyed me it was as they used a title to draw in people for the movie but in telling the story for the film so that way everyone can feel & understand what's going on & they super failed on it the only thing that made the movie exciting was the scene where Costner's character had that speech in the courtroom I said now only if he was more like that in the film he would'be been more enjoyable kind of like Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino but wishful thinking horrible film even the little girl was annoying my god I'm gonna go watch something good to get this bad movie taste out of my mouth

I honestly went into this move with an open mind I understand the director was going to have a different version of the end of the world & the fact it's an indie movie. I got super excited that willem Defoe was in it but all in all he couldn't carry the movie due to the all the energy that was in the movie was all him every single character in the movie was dry & did not do their job. I understand people are gonna have different takes on the end of the world but this was silly on many parts too much to even label but I would've preferred either a comet or a nuclear holocaust or a comet to kill all life, I mean seriously the ozone layer depleting is the way the world ends that's worse than that Wesley snipes line in passenger 57 "always bet on black" cues music I will super frisbee this movie if I ever see a DVD of it

Did I mention how much I hate subtitles because I really do very very much I spend more time looking at the words than paying attention to the film itself but with the ultra fresh premise it kept me drawn into it. The fact that the filmmakers made something simple as this made it interesting because for me I wondering how would they successfully pull it off. The constant flashbacks helped a ton to understand how it a began & made it more interesting as the movie continues it becomes another end of the world flick but with an interesting premise. Even heading to the climax when he tells him "you're gonna walk across that street I started thinking wait a minute why the hell couldn't you do that earlier rather than to be in a claustrophobic space throughout the film. But long & behold he makes it which afterward seem like the entire concept now has been crushed in the final minutes of the films end. When his fellow traveler dies before him I didn't really care too much it seemed as though they tried to force them to be best friends when the feeling of them even getting to that level was never executed properly all In all the premise was grade a I just didn't like the ending too much probably wouldn't watch it a second time but I don't feel like I wasted time watching it still wouldn't get me to recommend it to anyone

For many years now I stayed away from the Japanese/Kung fu flicks because they don't make them like they 'used to' but I was super blown away by this film & they had two main characters I actually cared about. The fight/ action sequences is probably some of the best I seen in a very long time I'm almost certain they put tons of work into hence the reason it came across so well. The plot itself wasn't hard to follow but wasn't a cliché revenge plot as well, now their are a few things I didn't like about this film which happens but this was things that stood out immediately 1.) He should've died plenty of times but of course I understand he's the hero of it all but it started to make him look like a cat with nine lives
2.) The little girl should've died as well it made no sense whatsoever that she made it out unscathed when the boss gave the order who saved her.? Why the sudden change of heart they've been doing it for years what made her so special. All in all the film was enjoyable than I thought & i more than likely will watch it a second time

So as a whole I probably seen tons of end of the world movies some I could adapt to, some I laughed at due to the fact that the writers in dire need of a worthy protagonist find a way for them to stop it but this one is different in so many ways. When the film starts it instantly had my attention from the style the movie was shot in & that one of the most important pieces of the movie is already explained. Another thing I enjoyed was that I actually cared about the two main characters who did their job clearly which made it not just a cheesy end of the world saga but something much more, something that we would all probably go through if that situation comes up. It was a few things about the movie i didn't like 1.) James originally left his side chick house to meet up with his girlfriend to party but clearly he didn't care for her as much as he did the side chick so why go there in the first place 2.) by him not really feeling his main chick at what point did he finally realize "hey this side chick I want to die with. That part was never explained at all All in all a very good film especially the special effects show at the end which was done brilliantly
