Mother of the Bride (2024)
Blah! Didn't work for me. Not Funny!
If you like your rom-coms without the Com(edy) and with characters that don't mesh well then, this is for you. Was this really filmed in Thailand? I honestly couldn't tell because there didn't seem to be many Thai people in it. And the scenery at the resort could have been in Thailand, or perhaps Hawaii or Okinawa. I say this without looking up the shooting location. Just didn't seem like the budget went to many locations. I Didn't laugh once and the son and daughter getting married had NO chemistry. The best acting was from Rachael Harris who plays Brooke Shields best friend. And Shields' acting in this and that last fiasco when she goes to England was horrible. Maybe it was the script as well because the story just didn't seem to flow well. The story was unrealistic. Not really a spoiler here but note to script writer - the scene with the old military jeep, yeah, they can EASILY be push started. No need to go with what you wrote. And the side characters felt like fill in to stretch this ridiculous movie to get to the 90 minute mark. Another Brooke Shields disappointment. And Benjamin Pratt could do better. Get him better scripts. And lastly, as much as Miranda Cosgrove acted so well as a child, like in School of Rock, as an adult, not seeing it. A shame because I believe she has better talent than what the director(s) are telling her. BTW - took 2 days to watch this. Halfway through I stopped, and today, what the hell, let's see if it improves. It got worse.
But let me tell you how I really feel (LOL)!
Blade of the 47 Ronin (2022)
Lots of Action - Stupid Story
If you like your plot thin and your action intense (meh) this is the movie for you. The fighting within the main characters wasn't that bad at all. But when fighting the many many evil ninja henchmen, this was ridiculous.
SPOILER ALERT - Really?! You can walk around Budapest with a sword and no one says anything? No cops? This 'live action' flick would have been better as a cartoon. The only reason I give it 5 stars are the HOT female characters and as I said, better fight scenes among the principle characters. Other than that, and with so many better action movies out there, this was class A STUPID. Why it's called a sequel to the 47 Ronin with the Keanu Reeves movie is beyond me. However there is one very small portion of a scene on a train where one of our good guys does an Indiana Jones move.
Karate Do (2019)
Good Storyline but...
I always like a good story when it comes to karate or about learning the martial arts. The art/style of it. Though kung fu flicks are fun, they are ridiculously unrealistic. I liked the story line, though Shotokan is not my idea of 'true' karate. (I am biased towards Okinawan karate, not what was watered down and transformed when it went to Japan) but I digress. Gabrielle Niebauer was hands down the best actor (actress) in this movie. If she was bad at acting as the rest of the cast I never would have finished watching it. But she did a fantastic job and was believable. Most of the cast was stiff and the dialog contrived without having a natural flow. Like they just learned their lines and did not rehearse and make the dialog more natural sounding. Whatever. If you are martial artist or just like the martial arts, I would recommend the movie. It is worth seeing.
