The Leftovers: Don't Be Ridiculous (2017)
Carrie Coon's performance makes it for an amazing Nora-centric episode.
"Don't be ridiculous" is a Nora centric episode, like "Guest" in season one and "Lens" in season two, both amazing episodes that cemented Nora Durst as one of the best characters of the show. Amazingly directed as always, with strong performances and very good writing. Nora is still suffering for the departure of her family and the tattoo scene, a very sad scene, showed us that. This episode gave us an answer about Lily, which was a question that I asked myself during the première. Regina King's Erika is the guest star of the episode, she's in one of the most heart-breaking scenes of The Leftovers yet. The plot about Martin Linn-Baker is really interesting, it seems a scam and it will probably be scam, but it was really intriguing.
While it was definitely a Nora-centric episode, the last minutes of the episode feature Australia. The very first scene of Australia in The Leftovers is a kangaroo that gets hit by a car, that was sad, I know, but it cracked me up. Then it becomes... mysterious, just like the show, hope to get an answer for this.
Life (2017)
Good movie, not original.
"Life" is a movie directed by Daniel Espinosa and written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick about a team of scientists aboard the International Space Station that discover a rapidly evolving life form, that caused extinction on Mars, and now threatens the crew and all life on Earth. Looking at the plot, it seems very similar, if not equal, to Ridley Scott's Alien. It's very much inspired by it and Cuaròn's Gravity, so it's not really an original film. Is it good? Yes. Let me explain, step by step: 1) Directing: the movie starts with an amazing sequence shot in the Space Station, it's impressive and features every character and the ISS, there are a lot of upside-down shots which are beautiful to watch. The overall directing is very well done, it's one of the best things of this movie. 2) Cinematography: the Oscar-nominated Seamus McGarvey directed the photography of the movie and it was well done, with some impressive shots. 3) Acting: while not featuring any Oscar-worthy acting, it's pretty good, especially Jake Gyllenhaal. 4) Atmosphere: since it's very much inspired from Ridley Scott's Alien, people could expect the same kind of atmosphere, but, sadly, this movie doesn't capture the perfect anxious and claustrophobic atmosphere of Alien and you don't really feel tension in all the parts of the movie like in Scott's masterpiece. 5) Horror & Gore: it's not the scariest movie ever, it wasn't particularly scary, actually, it wasn't scary at all for ME (I've heard people being scared by it so this is subjective). It doesn't feature a lot of gore scenes, but there are a couple of violent scenes. Still not the extreme violence of Alien movies. 6) CGI: I found the CGI pretty believable. 7) Alien Form: while it's not an iconic alien creature like Giger's Xenomorph of Scott's Alien, it's interesting. While it's not an original movie, Espinosa's Life is enjoyable by sci-fi/horror fans. Don't expect a masterpiece and you will probably like it.
Black Sails: XXXI. (2017)
Brutal episode
This is one of the most brutal, yet amazing, episodes I've ever seen.
The dialog between Woodes Rogers and Capt. Berringer were amazing. The Governor's speech about what he did to the crew of the ship that killed his brother was so intense. The keelhauling scene was one of the most brutal scenes I've ever seen in my entire life, it was really hard to watch it, but Blackbeard was a bad-ass and survived three times. That "AGAIN!" is still in my mind. Another scene that needs to be mentioned is the last one: the battle for Nassau. The choreography was amazing and Hands showed how brutal he can be. Incredibly powerful episode, one of the best of the show.
Black Sails: XXXV. (2017)
Beautiful, just beautiful.
After a devastating and tragic sixth episode, Black Sails comes back with an episode consisting of mostly talking, but don't worry, the dialogs are wonderful. This episode is a perfect build up for the final three episodes of the show, featuring amazing directing, photography, acting, music and writing. This show is just amazing, I'm going to miss it so much.
Poketto Monsutâ Mûn (2016)
Amazing Pokémon game!
I'm a big fan of Pokémon games.
I'll played every single Pokémon game, from first Gen. to seventh Gen.
I have to say that I didn't love Pokémon B&W, B&W2 and X&Y. I liked them, yes, but not loved them like the others.
My favorite Pokémon game is Platinum.
I was looking forward to Pokémon Sun&Moon but I didn't expect it to be SO good!
It's amazing.
Alola: It's amazing! It's divided in four islands and they all are wonderful to explore.
Innovations: Pokémon Sun&Moon has A LOT of innovations!
Story and Characters: I really liked the story and the characters, especially a female character called Lillie. The story is very good and interesting.
I've finished the main quest but the post-game is really big and I still have to do a lot of things even if I played it for 34 hours.
If you love Pokémon, you'll love this.
Devious Maids: Anatomy of a Murder (2015)
Wow
I usually don't watch shows like this. Not my genre. I'm more for shows like Dexter or Breaking Bad. I started this show in 2013, when S1 was airing because I wanted a fun thing to watch to relax. I thought this was just a normal comedy/drama like many others. I was wrong. I found Devious Maids really well done, loved ALL the characters in the show. Loved S1, loved S2 and ABSOLUTELY loved S3. I think S3 finale is one of the best season finale I ever watched. So many doors open, Sebastien was really creepy and creators were so brave to make these kind of choices. Isn't easy to kill characters that audience loves. I loved Adrian Powell (I think he's dead, really) and I liked a lot Michael. Great ending for a great season, not a big fan of cliffhangers but this was... perfect. Congratulations and I want/hope/need S4. 10/10 ------- Things can happens in S4: - In S1 ending Marisol finally exonerates his son. In S2 she says he was come back to school, I think he can return. Would be great. - Jesse can return, I know he went to Seattle but, as he said, he can come back. Would be great to see him again, loved him. - Ernesto, he come back in Mexico but says to Miguel that one day he will come back. I never trusted him but would be interesting. - In S3 we discovered that Carmen had a child, would be fantastic (and I think they will introduce the child in a possible S4) to see her. - In S1 Peri and Spence's story comes to an end. But I felt that wasn't really ended, I mean, they ended in this way only because the actress who played Peri was busy. Now she is free, Spence lost his memory, what can happen? In S1 we see Spence trying to have Rosie, I think in S4 we will see Rosie trying to have Spence. - Evelyn wanted a new beginning, with Adrian's death could she have? I think Adrian is dead, come on, Home exploded. - Zoila or the baby? - Taylor and Katy, I copy a quote from S7 of Dexter: "Is this a new beginning, or the beginning of the end?". I mean, is this a new beginning for them (new life) or beginning of the end (Taylor is arrested) for them? Police will arrest her or not? She will escape? How? Will she knows about Michael's death? What she will do? Creators has a lot of material for S4.
Hannibal: Contorno (2015)
Excellent episode
My God, this episode was perfect. All the scenes, all the dialogs, everything was perfect. The relationship between Hannibal and Bedelia is so interesting. The death of Rinaldo Pazzi, like the death in 1478 of Francesco Pazzi. Art. Pure art. And the last minutes... wow. The fight scene with that soundtrack was perfect. Hannibal is alive, yes, but now everyone knows where he is. Mason and Alana are interesting but still find Alana so disagreeable. Why NBC canceled it?! WHY. Horrible shows like Under the Dome, Pretty Little Liars continue. Hannibal not. SPOILER NEXT EPISODES I'm so anxious for the next episode, Will and Hannibal finally reunite! And I'm so anxious for the second part of the season about Red Dragon
