FANTASTIC
19 May 2024
I really enjoyed this episode. I'm a huge RTD fan - he killed all his previous episodes in earlier DW series. I LOVED his perfect Christmas specials with Tennant and Ncuti. But... Space Babies and the Beatles episodes fell a tiny bit short. I've never seen that happen with a Davies episode before. Especially after coming off the high of those incredible Christmas specials. I'm not sure... what happened with his writing. But seeing Boom and Moffat work his magic again... it was even more of a striking difference. This episode had all the warm and comforting elements of what I'm used to from Who. Which Davies also gave me before - not just Moffat. I'm not sure what happened - but there were a few plot holes. Not major like Jodie's runs - but still a few there. I've just never seen that from Davies. I'm hoping to see Davies writing pick up after Boom. Moffat set the standards high and reminded viewers that weak or bad writing can ruin everything.

As an avid romance book reader - especially of Indie romance novels - this ticks every single box of my expectations of book to film adaptions. Production companies - TAKE NOTE! THIS is how you do romance. THIS is how you adapt page to film!! This was so beautifully done. So much care was given to detail. The most important piece was the casting of the leads. Both were perfectly casted and their chemistry was the best I've ever seen. The timing, writing, pacing, music - all of it was masterfully put together to create the most beautiful, intense love story on screen. The chemistry and absolute TENSION between these two characters/actors. I bought it all - hook, line, and sinker. The male lead was perfect playing a caged rich boy - his acting and mannerisms were equivalent to jumping off the page of the book. He did nonchalant AND expressed his emotions SO WELL. These two main leads are honestly some of the best actors I've ever seen. I really hope more shows and films get made like this. This is going to be something I rewatch over and over again. I can't wait for the next season!

Decent Start

I've been waiting on bated breath for this series to start. I LOVE Ncuti and I LOVE Davies. But I am coming off of Jodie's series - and the first half had some brutal plot holes. I really enjoyed this episode - great cinematography, acting, music, and flow. But there was an awkward plot hole with the monster. That made me cringe a little and it kind of gave me PTSD from Jodie's first season. I feel like as long as the small faux pas is only in the first episode I will be okay. I really want Doctor Who to keep succeeding. I have so much trust in Russell T. Davies and I really don't want him to let me down.

Coming Back Home

Warning: Spoilers
How the hell was this only rated 7.0 out of 10? This was a 10/10!! This ticked ALL the boxes for me. Yes - David Tennant is my favorite doctor. I've ALWAYS wanted to see more of Donna - her ending had always been so depressing and tragic. The fact that Davies chose to do his first episode wrapping her story line up makes me so happy it's insane. It was all so beautifully done. I was shocked that I didn't see the Meep twist coming!! I was cooing the whole first half of the episode.

I didn't hate Jodie like everyone else did. I loved her. And her regeneration was so freaking sad. But they really nailed it in Power of the Doctor pushing her into Tennant. I think fans needed a healthy reminder of what Doctor Who WAS and what Davies has always offered us. It was just so beautifully done. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the story and I can't wait for Ncuti!!

10/10!!!!!!!

Wow. WOW!!!!

My favorite movie of all time is Aliens. It's been my favorite movie since I was 5-years-old. I'm 38 now. That has NEVER changed.

Until THIS.

And I bet you are thinking this review is satire. It's NOT.

I'm BLOWN away. Barbie is now my favorite movie of all time - successfully unseating Sigourney Weaver's Ripley. I never thought I would see the day.

The movie makes you think it's going to be just a fun, silly movie to mock. NO. It's not. It's brilliantly written. It's written so well that all the adult messaging goes right over the little kids heads but still gives them plenty of enjoyment.

The movie sparked really great discussion with my daughter who is 8-years-old. We discussed why it's so important to value ourselves and what the patriarchy is. It's just... mind blowingly good.

And also - a good reminder to all women. WE ARE ENOUGH. We are good enough. And we need to raise our daughters to be confident and leaders if that's the path they choose.

Warning: Spoilers
I'm finally all caught up and getting to watch TWD episodes as they release again. I've been very impressed with Dead City. To see Negan and Maggie together - working to find her son - is pretty great.

I did get "annoyed" from Ginny. She reminded me too much of annoying characters on FTWD. I do have to remind myself that teenagers truly do really dumb things though - and often. So even though I'm almost 40 - I clearly don't remember all the really idiotic stuff I did when I was a teenager.

Out of all three episodes so far though - this one is the least entertaining and definitely didn't hold up to the other two. It was still good - but not great.

I'm hoping the rest of the episodes are epic. They only have six - so I have high expectations.

Warning: Spoilers
I finally finished my binge watch of the entire series last night. It's taken me three months of constant watching to get through every season and universe. I am so happy I can watch the current releases now. I have to say... THESE are my TWD expectations. I PRAY all the mini series are like this. This was phenomenal.

FTWD was hit or miss. World Beyond was a horrible Train wreck and I hope I never see those characters again. TWD recovered the last few seasons.

I'm so excited to watch this current show. Nothing is wrong with it - it's PERFECT!

Negan and Maggie were such a good idea to start us off. I'm also excited about the new actor for Hershel.

Warning: Spoilers
We know this is the last season. I am SO GLAD they wrapped up Morgan. I'm really surprised this episode doesn't have a higher rating. It was so great getting to see the first few episodes again - almost memorialized. It was interesting how he got there though? These characters suddenly seem to be able to travel around and far really fast. Are they really that close to Atlanta???

The wrap up of Duane was nicely done. I enjoyed the parallels of the new family vs the original.

What is also interesting is the radiation for tx. I think it's a good bit - but come on... the CRM most definitely would have tried radiation?? I do like the direction of that though.

Surprised
22 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'm honestly surprised there are so many negative reviews. I don't think any of these people have been watching the spin offs. Which is fine. The spin offs are freaking terrible. BUT - the end cut scene of World Beyond - scene in France - I was THRILLED to see that.

Am I laughing because they just now... a mere few episodes before the end of the series... decide to comment on the continuity errors of the walkers in the first two episodes of TWD? Yes. Yes I am.

BUT! I like it. We all got a bit too used to these slow *** zombies and having variants does make sense. I hear whispers that the France variant will get addressed in a spin off and I'm super onboard with that - since IMO that and Jadis were the only good things to come out of the World Beyond series.

Besides the awesome variant story line - I really love the transition to shooting digitally. It looks GORGEOUS on my 4K TV. I can see every damn pore. Every bead of sweat. I like the angles of the camera work too - very "comic book" like.

Just... so interesting to see these super negative reviews. This isn't season 7 and 8 of TWD. The show has been loads better since Kang took over. I'm just annoyed they couldn't put this same effort into the spin off shows (World Beyond and FTWD) cause those shows were ****.

I've been on a TWD Universe binge for the last several months. I'm almost caught up for the new mini series! With that said... I've watched every single web series and let me say... most of them have been terrible. But this one? It's high quality. It was written well. I loved it. It was great seeing Nick Stahl again and he once again proves he is an amazing actor. Right now? This web series killed FTWD Season 7. Which is really terrible. I wish they would put the same effort into FTWD they did into this mini series. I do really enjoy seeing everyone's origin stories. The show doesn't concentrate enough on that.

Sigh
6 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I was happy to see Dwight and Sherry - their story is cute. But I think... reviewers are just fed up. There was a review a few episodes back talking about the NeverEnding flip flop of good season VS bad season. And this show really does do that... one season is fantastic ... the next is terrible.

Honestly - I think the OG TWD characters would have been so irritated with almost everyone and these scenarios a lot of these characters would be dead at their hands by now.

I just don't get it.

The other reviewers also talk about the inconsistencies of the nuclear fallout. And they are right. How the hell are the horses still walking around just fine? I feel like... these writers think we are stupid as an audience. But we are not and that's why there are so many bad reviews.

I'm honestly just pushing through so I can say I've watched all of TWD universe.

At this point I'm just gonna push and pray they do well on the TWD mini series they are starting to release. Hopefully they put the best of the best on those series.

Gus Halper
5 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So here I am... spending an entire episode falling deeply in love with Will (Gus Halper). That man is an ACTOR. The actor who plays Strand has been acting painfully bad in this show for years - no depth. But Gus? So much depth. So here I am thinking we are finally getting a really high quality actor on the show (to add to the other late arrivals we've gotten over the years) and BAM! Last two minutes... Strand throws him off a roof.

What a damn waste of an amazing character.

Look. I just spent two seasons watching TWD: World Beyond. That show was complete trash and had trash characters (like this show - but FTWD doesn't go as low as World Beyond) except for the last five episodes - which were saved by the character of Jadis from TWD. I watched The World Beyond basically kill off the few good, high quality actors/characters in the show and leave the POS bad, cringe actors/characters alive.

SMH. That is Strand. He has not been worth leading man material. The man cannot act. He has no depth. He is being paid TO DO A BAD JOB.

Here comes someone brilliant like Gus Halper - someone that could have saved this show - and you kill him off ASAP? Like WTF?!

So already the show is off to an absolute **** start. I looked ahead at the reviews for this season and the future is not looking bright.

I think the ratings would have improved if it had been STRAND thrown off the roof - and not Will.

Stop keeping these absolute trash characters alive. Seriously.

WOW
5 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Alright. I have two "wow" moments here.

What is so funny is the Jadis character made a total Comeback. I really disliked her in TWD. I thought it was a poor story for her. But MAN - her character has been the best part of World Beyond and really made the last five episodes great. What a ride. What talent. I'm so glad she survived and to see her betray just the same as she did in TWD was awesome. I liked her references to Rick. Overall - I hope I see her again. She was fantastic.

The last wow? It's the obvious one. That cut scene at the end! WHOA!!! Just... WHOA!!! It was absolutely brilliant and I was not expecting it! And it makes total sense there would be variants of the virus across the world. That is just bad***. That cut scene right there has rekindled my love for TWD. They wouldn't show us that unless something would get addressed soon. We know people from France went to Toledo, Ohio. Which MEANS when they die - the states will see the new walkers. That is going to be NUTS.

The fast zombies were always more terrifying to me. So I'm bracing myself for madness.

IRIS
26 May 2023
Like so many of the reviewers on here - we can all see the problem is Iris. Or the actress that plays her. I have no idea how she's an actress -not only is she barely Disney channel level but she HAS to be a nepo baby or have really good connections. It's so hard to fathom she's on a huge franchise like this. And she's honestly ruining the show. Another reviewer stated they cringe so hard at her scenes or have to fast forward through. I relate SO MUCH. And I love Disney and the CW - but this chick needs to stop. Honestly in the original TWD show this girl would have been dead already 100 times over. They keep trying to sell she's a badass and she's just not.

And yes. She cannot act to save her life. I saw a tiny improvement the second half of last season - but now? The cringe is back.

I'm sure the young woman is very nice. But she needs new direction and maybe some acting classes. I can tell the show runners want to keep her on and that's so annoying. I just want her to be killed already and let's move on. Its like FTWD and World Beyond are too scared to kill anyone off.

Elton
18 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It's official. I like Elton. He is who I enjoy seeing onscreen now. I had a suspicion he would be a favorite in the first few episodes but he had been written and directed so poorly. It was very enjoyable getting to see him shine in this episode. I thought everything was well done - the acting, writing, AND editing. It felt like a smooth episode. I am enjoying the actor who plays Percy too. Once he joined the show it got exceptionally better.

I did not see the "Huck" thing coming but I thought it was done really well and was a good surprise. I'm really curious to see where the lab episode goes.

OMG. SO MUCH BETTER.
18 May 2023
I'm one of those people who won't hold a grudge and keep reviewing low as **** out of spite. The first five episodes? Absolute terrible trash. The two female leads were written, acted, and directed horribly.

But guess what? Since episode 6 they've been FINE. Which goes to show - it was terrible directing and writing. The show runners must have heard the complaints loud and clear and fired all the people screwing this show up.

I just don't understand why AMC would even consider employing new writers, or subpar writers, or taking a chance with their "gold mine" shows. They need to pay the people who make these shows work A LOT OF MONEY to stick around. This is their money maker. I'm not sure why the network ever takes chances on these huge shows that have massive followings.

And TWD fans have long memories. They are lucky they have fans like me who gave the show a second chance. Because the episodes DO GET BETTER. But it's like whiplash!

Better. Much Better.
18 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
And I know why! Michael Cudlitz (Abraham) is becoming a bonafied A-list director. I've enjoyed every episode across the TWD universe he's directed. They've definitely been the better ones. The writing is polishing out a little and I think doing that is making it so there is less screen time on the main actors - who were the big problem in the first place. A good director can ruin actors too. All of the annoying things about the main characters weren't in this episode compared to the first five. I suppose it's because we had two new characters who are great actors get introduced, conflict, and a good director not allowing the actors to speak in stupid soft spoken tones like they do on the CW.

I had figured out last episode my biggest frustration was with the two main teen actresses. They were the worst. They made dumb decisions. And I kept yelling at the tv to the adult male to just leave them and let them die.

Hopefully those days of yelling are over. The best parts are the ending bonus scenes of the CRM. Best part of this show is finding out about the place that took Rick.

Started to Fast Forward
17 May 2023
I have GOT to get through this steaming pile of **** and as quickly as possible.

Writers of this show! I shouldn't be BEGGING, DYING to see one of these stupid kids get eaten!

You can tell this 100% is Gen Z meeting TWD and it's just... TERRIBLE. These kids wouldn't be alive. I wanted the close calls in this episode to not be close calls. I was DISAPPOINTED they didn't die and that's BAD. I should care about the main characters! But this show is so terrible. Look. Julie Plec wannabes have no place in TWD universe. What was AMC thinking?! This is the most frustrating show in the world to watch right now. As I said - I'm forcing myself for the sake of the binge watch but I will never be able to watch this absolute rubbish again.

All of these characters look and act like they walked off a damn Disney set.

I HATE THIS SHOW!!!!!!
17 May 2023
Ya know. I thought FTWD was bad. I thought it had been poorly casted. Almost every actor they cast in that show first season were terrible actors. I'm not sure how they got that gig honestly.

And then... there is THIS.

Now. The actors are not as bad as the FTWD ones... but their characters, their stupid faces, their stupid voices, their stupid actions and reactions - it's all too damn much.

This is probably the most irritating show I've watched in a long time.

The writing just pushes it to be more horrible. These characters are still too CW. Too soft spoken for this world. Too well mannered. Too CLEAN. I need to see hair ripped out. No make up. Blood and guts. And I'm anti gore.

But this is a walking dead show and it looks like the CW trying to play house right now.

I don't even like the adult characters. The tone of the writing is just absolute ****. I'm fairly forgiving on TWD shows but this is pure trash.

I have 8 more episodes to go in my binge watch. The only thing giving me hope is in each season the ratings get higher near the end of the season.

Sigh
8 May 2023
I'm mainly reviewing this one because it's been a painful season. I'm binge watching and that has gotten me through some previously thought to be terrible episodes. I've not ever seen this season of FTWD though and damn... the other reviewers are right. The writing is BAD.

The first two seasons were riddled with terrible actors. They finally wiped most of them out and now have quality actors onboard (except Strand) so there is SO MUCH POTENTIAL. But these actors are wasted on trash writing! Truly - it's very much trash writing. What is crazy is that some seasons of FTWD have been phenomenal! We all talk about Season 3 - truly - a great season. But they keep bringing in show runners now who are messing it up. They need to get Angela Kang on this show too. She saved TWD. She could save this show.

I'm afraid to see the next episode.

Dumb *** Villain
2 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It WOULD only be Pyschos and survivalists left at the end of the world. Smh. This new villain is SO FRUSTRATING. I'm so sick of them putting these crazy soft spoken Pyschos in here and then of course they take forever to kill.

I'm speculating this is the truck drivers wife. She got salty he was helping people and just went crazy. This chick is like in her 60's - how is she still surviving and taking down young men?

Bring me back a Negan villain. I am so sick of these particular ones. And of course it's going to tape until rue end of the season to kill her.

It's just such BS. People WOULD be sabotaging each other at the end of the world. Of course they would.

And I do think I finally get why Al got sick. She must've drank contaminated bottled water from that pyscho who needs a terrible death.

The Level of Stupid
1 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
...I am pretty hardy these days watching FTWD because I'm binging. So I see the show with different eyes then when I was watching on a weekly release.

But this... was an entirely new level of stupid. It definitely felt like brand new writers tackled this - the good ones took a joint vacation.

I know kids make us blind sometimes. But I would've just gagged Mel and walked away and kept my own kids handcuffed to me.

I mean. Realistically I would've left. Or had a serious escape plan for the whole stadium.

Almost every character was really dumb in this episode and just... ugh. It was painful. Even for me!!!

They Brought Out The Big Guns!
30 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Damn. As soon as I saw Maggie Grace and Clint James grace the screen I knew they brought out the big guns. They really wanted to improve this show. They knew that TWD was taking a proverbial hit and FTWD wasn't doing much better. I LiKE it! I like this upgrade.

What I don't like.... Is in this episode they hint it's only been a year since the start. I hope they clarify that. Because hands down we also know minimum it can only be a year and a half. 9 months passed with Lori's pregnancy and then at least 4 or 5 months in the prison. Then several more months of traveling to Virginia. We can all close our eyes and pretend Carl and Judith didn't have at least three years minimum growing up right before our eyes (we all know the real life timeline) and say it's been 16-18 months since the fall. I can believe everything that happened in TWD happened in 18 months. And Morgan takes several months to get to... Texas? I believe it.

I hope the next episodes address the time line. I prefer at least 2-3 years since the fall.

To wrap up - they weren't messing around with acting power. Great new characters.

The Walking Dead: How It's Gotta Be (2017)
Season 8, Episode 8

Sigh. So dumb.
29 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'm in agreement with most of the reviews on here about the random close ups of the actors faces over and over again. That's been happening for a few episodes. It doesn't look polished. It looks cheap. I don't understand what happened. Where are the original show runners? Who is making this bad decision?

Next. Carl. I had stopped watching the series when Glenn died - despite knowing he did. Because at the time I felt the show was going down hill and I just... stopped. But I decided to binge watch when the series ended. And a lot of the episodes I thought were bad before ... were not. The show is actually still really good. But these war episodes have been a little rough this season... some plot holes. Some random awkward shots during every other scene. The acting is good - but it's like... the directing is horrible. The writing isn't terrible with dialogue but it's incomplete story.

It's very clear they made a decision to kill Carl before season 8. When I heard about this in the news - when I wasn't watching the show - I was very shocked. I love the comics and killing Carl off is pretty much a sin. He IS The Walking Dead and the heart and soul of the comics. He is the reason Rick does everything he does. It's basically show suicide to do this. The fact that it's clear the show runners knew.. because Carl had very little scene time the whole season... that the killing was unexpected to all the actors ... it's like one of Hollywoods worst kept secrets. We know he was fired for money. We are not dumb. But the show runners are.

Here is my next issue with his death.

It's a damn insult. It's cheap! If they are going to kill off one of the biggest characters in the entire TWD universe you need to treat that death delicately. It needs to be big. Like Glenn's. And Heroic. Every major character death has meant something.

This reminds me of Bellamy from the 100. It was cheap. It was insulting to the actors, the story, and the fans. Same for Dany in GoT. I mean... play the death scene out. Give the character some respect!!! If you are going to break hearts do it RIGHT!

Like... he just gets bit?! We don't even get the courtesy of seeing it happen. No drama. Just... he is bit.

I could tell the actor playing Rick wasn't happy. His acting was off in this scene.

I know TWD fans are still pissed about Carl. I hope the show runners struggle to find work after this. I don't want them ruining other good shows.

And also! Carl is a huge part of Negan's rehabilitation in the comics too. So dumb. They had such a great relationship and now I don't get to see that play out.

That death hit me
28 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The death of Shiva hit me 1000 times harder than any FTWD death. This was up there with Glenn for me.

A great episode. Great acting. Great action. But the ending... just so devastatingly sad for me. We don't deserve animals. If there is a God, animals are the greatest gift we have ever been given. A true heroic ending for the beautiful tiger.

Carol was epic as usual. I love the evolution of her character. She's such a little bad***. I love how in her conversation with Ezekiel they had similar personalities before the apocalypse. I can see they are trying to have her take Michonnes place as Ezekiel's lover. Sigh. Not sure how I feel about it - but they do have good chemistry.
