The Irishman (2019)

Far more better than Casino and Goodfellas
9 December 2019
The Irishman by Scorsese is the continuation from Casino and Goodfellas, let's call it ''Oldfellas''. For more than 3 hours, I've been carried through comedy, thrill, action and drama. The way Pacino played in this deserves an Oscar. I am waiting to see the nominations list for this year. Scorsese did it again!

Venom (2018)

Wonderful performance by Tom Hardy, but such a typical action-cliche movie that we all got used to
8 November 2018
I think Tom Hardy deserves a better filming crew so that we, the public audience, will be able to watch one day that masterpiece, because, I strongly believe this actor can do that. With this movie intitulated Venom, the scenary is somehow good, but about 90% of the plot twists and characters's performance is just super clicheic and ordinary. I don't feel bad about watching this, as a fan of Spiderman (Tobey Maguire), I was waiting for one of these for a long time.

Surprisingly good for the Romanian film potential
6 April 2018
This was pretty good, I really liked how the producers realized everything. It was very thrilling, with some cliches, but, still, very good for Romanian potential. Good job for the crew, regarding the cast, most of the young actors played some interesting roles and the storyline is very dramatic. I recommend this for every movie enthusiast that is looking for something new, because, I repeat, this is Romanian cinematography and, it is far different from other countries.

Seen 837 movies so far and this is the most heart-breaking an touching one.
18 December 2017
Made by Netflix, it has the potential (by that I mean a strong budget) to be great. But it is not about that.

For this documentary, the budget is irrelevant because all the materials that this film is made of were made during those winter 2013-2014 days and nothing like budget, soundtrack, cast, filming crew, etc is rellevant...Everything is done in order to make the ordinary viewer to understand a little bit of recent history.

This movie is about the feeling that transmits to its viewers and it is absolutely heart-breaking. It is so powerful, that after watching it, it make you think about it for the rest of your life.

A truly must-watch, a perfect masterpiece. After 2 years of watching it 3 times, I am (still) waiting for something better, but I can not find any.

Hawaii introduces its viewers into the 1988 Communist Romanian life and it does quite a nice job
29 November 2017
Jesús del Cerro did an interesting piece of work here with this one. Dramatic and thrilling, but, unfortunately, few moments of originality.

After I watched it, I understood that all of this was made in order to make the ordinary viewer aware of the idea of 1988 Romania, a country where communism was in its final part of life (and glory) and when the entire Romanian people's lives were very difficult to live.

This is the main subject and thanks to the good work of the filming crew and because of the good performance by its actors, Hawaii is a must watch for all Romanian film enthusiasts and also, if you want to live in the 1988 Communist Romanian Bucharest for 216 minutes.

I warmly recommend this film, but they had a lot more to do and they had the potential, this is why I have rated it with a 6.

Good for Romanian action/drama/crime TV Series, but too much cliché
26 November 2017
All of the other Romanian films are made in a manner that only the Romanian producers/writers like and this TV Show, Umbre (Shadows), is finally made for the audience's preferences. Yes, the audience is asking for cliché, American action/drama cliché, but I got used and bored of all of these and this is why I am not rating it with a better mark. Buut, I have to say that all of these clichés are actually making it a little bit more interesting.

The acting performance is well done by all the actors, especially the old ones.

The movie budget is high and this is why we have to thank HBO, we have some good moments in some of the episodes which require a big amount of money to spend, but they have to work more.

About everything this TV Series has, it has to be better and they have to work more on little details because, after 3 years of nothing between season 1 and season 2, the audience is expecting for more.

And I think these guys can do a lot more than that !

9.5 I would say out of 10, gave it a 10 not a 9 because...
24 November 2017
First of all, Garrett Hedlund's performance in this is, in my opinion, a performance that deserves many awards.

This Dee Rees' film is one of a kind, it reminds me of Mississippi Burning from 1988, because of its story-line that is made in such a good manner, transmitting a very strong message, also, every piece of work that all the filming crew did here, together with the great cast, made this film one of the few best of 2017 films so far, in my opinion of course.

I must say, I have never seen this (great and never tried before) combination of two major US history moments in a film, segregation and world war 2, so far and, I would recommend this film to every war, history, drama enthusiast because it is a masterpiece of 2017, a must see.

At the same time, a sad and wonderful world and story, this film by Taylor Sheridan
21 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This film comes with something that it seemed to me that it got lost in the last years of all these American films.

First of all, I was impressed to see all of those landscapes and shooting angles that the filming crew used, with a quiet and soft soundtrack on the background. Combined with the characters' short lines and the story-line that is very thrilling, it is a recipe for perfection, in my opinion, at least.

I am now completely confident that Jeremy Renner is an actor to be remembered in the years to come for his role in this one. His character is the movie hero we all need to see in this kind of films.

Honestly, the plot twist, which presents at the end what really happened in the first place, made me to decide it is a 10, not a 9. A masterpiece.

Such a great work of film editing, but too much cliché
14 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Firs of all, in my opinion, Woody Harrelson is not a good actor to perform in this kind of film because he is cool in other kind of films..

His performance completely ruined the film because his character, the Colonel, or whatever his screen name was, is that action/war movie bad character cliché that I hate the most. OK, use him, but why putting him in all those positions that are so clichéd...

Andy Serkis rocks (as he got us used to with Gollum / King Kong, etc) in this one.

I think this film is a little better than the other ones, but still, why so many movie clichés ? I would have definitely rated it with a better mark, but a 7 is the best I can do.

Interesting film here !

Warning, masterpiece of 2017 ahead !
21 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
That 1:1 ratio, those filming angles, soundtrack, film editing, they are all making this film a cinematographic masterpiece of all time, especially in the year 2017.

Writers and producers, congratulations for this one, you have did it perfectly !

Rooney Mara and Casey Affleck, they rock with this one.

That drama thrill that it gives you, it is far above all the other drama/romance films that I have watched, it reaches perfection, this one is a truly must watch of 2017 and I am wondering how many film awards it will get.

Original and well made, but the ending is such a disaster
15 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
With very unique soundtrack, film edit, cast, the ending twist is such a waste of such a good movie !

I was about to rate it with a 9, but the last 20-25 minutes of it convinced me that the producers/writers wanted this film to end like all the other cliché action/cars/shooting/etc films that we have all got used to (and bored of). Such a waste ! They have made it almost perfectly, but the ending is so bad...

Ansel Elgort, I have never heard of him before, but his performance in this....it rocks. I think we will hear from him soon and I can see some good films with him in the near future !

The last of the John Wayne films, it has been an honor, Sir
7 August 2017
While the 1901 climate may not look good for a classic western, for this one, it fits really well. I must say, you have to watch some of John Wayne's famous western films before you see this because it somehow connects, and you will understand it better. Thank you, John Wayne, for entertaining us with all your good western films ! A must-watch for every western enthusiast !

John Wick became a mix between Jason Bourne and Kingsman and I am not sure if I like it
23 May 2017
It was a good film, moderate I can say...With a lot of movie clichés of course, John Wick Chapter 2 is a mix between Jason Bourne and Kingsman because it is full of action (fighting, shootings, high-tech weapons, etc) and...comedy ?! Yeah, comedy, it made me laugh at some scenes even if it was not suppose to I think... Keanu Reaves is a rock-star yes, and these John Wick films are representing his reborn as an action-hero character...Some would say John Wick is the new Neo from The Matrix, you will decide that after you see this one !

Rio Bravo (1959)

Very original but why isn't it listed as a thriller too because it is
22 May 2017
I have seen some western films that were released during the 20th and 21st century and I have to say this one is in my top 3 westerns ever made !

Amazingly, it is very different from the other western films from those years and I am saying that because it has some thrilling moments...Why is it not rated as a thriller ??? Why ??? Maybe you will laugh at me, but yes, I think it is also a thriller.

Story-line, cast, plot, film editing, sound track, they are all perfectly done for 1959 and this is why I rated it with 10. A masterpiece of the 1950s.

If you are a western enthusiast, I strongly recommend you to watch it, you will thank me later.

If you are looking for a Liam Neeson or Pierce Brosnan film, watch it, if you seek for a good western and non cliché movie, do not waste your time
19 April 2017
I will start with the cast. The actors are persons that played in a lot of good films, their acting is, let's say, above average, yes I have to agree, but unfortunately, this is the only good thing that I see about this movie. Storyline, twist, soundtrack, film editing, whatever, they are all crap. I am sorry to say this, I am a huge western enthusiast, but this movie doesn't have anything to do about western movies. It is just a mix of thriller, drama and action Hollywood cliché, that me, for example, I am bored of and hate them so much that I had some strong nerves to watch it till the end.

It simply does not meet any minimum requirement for me to rate it with a good mark, my final rating is 4.5, I gave it a 4 because a 5 would be too much for what it does.

I do not want to say that it totally wasted my time, even if I strongly feel it did, however, if it was not for the western climate in the movie (which is very very poor), I would have gave it no more than 2 as a rating, I am very serious.

I am not giving you any spoiler, so to conclude, I am saying this again: if you are like a big fan of an actor of the cast, or a fan of some crew members than go ahead, watch it, but if you are looking for a good western/action/drama/thriller/etc movie which has to meet some minimum requirements, I am kindly telling you DO NOT WATCH THIS !

13 Reasons Why (2017–2020)
9/10
Everyone of us is a bully or a bullied and must watch this TV Show
18 April 2017
13 Reasons Why is a show which exposes one of the biggest issues in our teenagers modern lives nowadays: Bullying. This TV Series is a fictionally (as far as I know, it is not based on a single real story, it faces the problem generally) example of adolescents being a bully or bullied. Being treated well, or not well, it is about being not human to each other and these episodes made me realize some things.

I will not talk about cast, actors, film editing or whatever because I think they are irrelevant; the purpose of these show is not to be a cinematographic masterpiece (this is why I gave it a 9, not a 10), the real purpose of it is THE POWER OF EXAMPLE. A story which gives you thrills, nervousness and other kind of emotions, a story which everyone of us, no matter their perceptions, should listen to. I am not a TV Series fan, I have to agree, but this TV Show is not one of those shows that you only watch because you like some of the actors, or the story-line, or you heard it is nice or whatever. You watch these episodes because they are one of the few things that can make us realize the effects of bullying and hatred. Take your time, there are 13 episodes of almost 1 hour each, watch them whenever you want and you will feel it.

If you are a person seeking for another TV Series to watch, do not watch this, as you may have read in my review, it is much more than that.

I rest my case.

A very good Spanish film, Hollywood must take it for example
29 March 2017
I haven't seen many Spanish movies so far, but I can honestly say that Contratiempo/Invisible Guest is about to be brilliant. I am not familiarized with the actors from the cast, but I can say that their acting is a very good performance and all the filming crew made a good job with this one ! Filming angles, soundtrack, story line, cast, plot, etc, all of them are a lot above the average thriller/mystery clichés that Hollywood got us used to, but still it has some minor issues that, in my opinion, of course, I would have changed. Those 'little problems' made me to decide this movie is a 9, not a 10, a 10 would be a perfect masterpiece, however, this one approaches perfection somehow. 1 hour and 46 minutes are surprisingly enough for this film, even if it may seem too little for a 9-rated movie, for the entire time I didn't get bored or badly surprised, it was just very thrilling and full of action and mystery. Contratiempo is, in my opinion, a must watch for thriller/mystery enthusiasts and legal movie fans.

Logan (2017)

I wanted it to be the best one so far, but it isn't...And this is a X-Men fan review !
8 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, I need to say that this film is so over-rated that it fooled me to watch it at my local cinema, instead of watching it online just like the other 99% of the films that I watched. I can not say that it is a waste of time or money to watch it at the cinema, but the film is nott good, it is not bad either, it is just moderate, just another action cliché movie that meets no more than 65% of my total respect. H.J. plays Wolverine as he used us, so perfect I mean. If it wasn't for him, I don't know how it could be. The final X-Men movie is so boring and commercial, with some, I have to agree, good scenes. Good, not memorable, not perfect ! The filming angles are so...ordinary...Not a single scene was shot from a different good angle so that it may stay in my memory or something. It was filmed just like another commercial film... The first half of the film made me think this requires no more than a 6 rate, but the other half was better, in other words, for my point of view, the action and the thrill both started about when they met those farmers and so on. I don't know, it is my opinion, but the end started to be epic, I mean the chase in the woods, just like the first Wolverine film started (I was thinking wow they had a brilliant idea, ending it the same how it started, with Logan running in the forest and fighting some soldiers, but the scene with him being buried by children was very embarrassing for such a hero as Wolverine). Another big issue that may have changed my opinion and could have made this film better was that it has almost no good music in fighting/drama scenes... To end, I can say that Logan is about on the 3th, maybe even on the 4th place on my X-men films list.

BBC succeeded in perfection with this one, a truly must watch
10 December 2016
Planet Earth II is one of the few TV Series/Documentary that can, somehow, be appreciated by almost all the viewers, no matter their age, sex, religion or perception and ideas about the world. At the first sight, it may seem to be another nature documentary like others and yes, it is one of those nature documentaries, but it is the best one so far, from almost every single point of view. The viewer ratings don't lie, as you will know after you watch a couple of minutes of any episode of this documentary. Due to the new technology available, such as the 4K/ULTRA HD video & sound format and also thanks to the newest filming equipment and procedures of capturing videos and photos such as the drone-filming, Planet Earth II is far more better than the first Planet Earth. After watching the first series from 2006, it may look impossible now with this new TV Series to present something new and different, in order to capture the audience's attention. It is unbelievable how this new series totally differs from the first one and it really has such a unique and entirely new way of presenting us the beautiful Blue Planet, in a way that can make you burst into tears. To be honest, I was't expecting much when I first found out about the Planet Earth II release. And now, after watching it, I am fully shocked and amazed about how a filming and producing crew can somehow reach perfection in creating such a masterpiece, one of the best documentary of all times. This is a truly and undoubtedly must watch for every single person in this world who has almost one hour of free time to kill for watching one of the episodes.

Best Cinematographic Masterpiece Ever Made
19 August 2016
It is such a good mix between almost any kind of movie genres, the best adventure-drama-action film, mixed up with thrilling scenes, and a little bit of comedy and mystery. Such a perfect recipe for making this perfect cinematographic masterpiece. New Zealand landscapes which are part of the film made, in my opinion, the difference between this film and the other good films of our movie history. Almost all the actors are now famous because of the lord of the rings films so this says it all... At the same time, all the soundtrack is majestic and thrilling at any part during the film. Peter Jackson undoubtedly made history producing the Lord of the Rings films and especially the Return of the King, he will remain in history for ever and he will never be forgotten.
