The Last Man (2019)
Aiming for Take Shelter and missing by a light year
Bad acting, slow, boring, predictable. I feel like perhaps it was the acting and confused opening and flashback scenes (a future war where soldiers dressed like WW2 soldiers) made it hard to engage with the characters.
I think they were aiming for the slow build tension of Take Shelter but every element missed.
I was hoping the apocalypse would come early.
Don't Speak (2020)
Irritatingly bad, not B-movie bad.
One bad decision made what would have been a low end of mediocre film in to a terrible film where you will want the monster to kill them off as quickly as possible so you don't have to listen to the awful, awful accents. A British cast and clearly filmed in the UK but for some reason we're supposed to believe it's the US. There's even a close up of a Union flag on a tudor pub! I'm guessing it was because the writer was desperate to have guns, which is kind of lazy. I can't believe I paid to watch this.
Some of the cast probably can act, just not with an American accent and certainly not any kind of consistent accent.
