Best Christmas movie 2023
19 December 2022
This is a great movie. I can't imagine a better film for the Holiday's. I don't want to add spoilers but it is full of Christmas everything. I'll get the DVD to add to my collection. Partially there's a Hollywood feel because John Leguizamo is in it. Go see it. I like horror and you'd think it is like Silent Deadly Night. Similar but different theme. It could be classified as a Horror Action Slasher film. If you saw the last Halloween which is the worst film of all time you should see this because it has that movie magic. I'll tell you there's lots of back story of Santa which is something never revealed about the Saint before.

Worth watching because of the historical truth
12 July 2021
Scholars are still putting out the History of the Witches in Massachusetts in the 1600's. For the movie I'm not sure if all the family names are true, at least some are I believe. This Genre is part horror, maybe part gothic, and part religion and women's right in the 1600's. The actors are good also and really show the rank of the Church from Bishop, Priest, Padre, sinner, and sacrifice to God. I usually rank films in horror by if there's been many released that year, how good it is compared to other films and if it original and not a copy of another film. I enjoyed it, special effects are good, it seems like a 90 minute film and that's what I expect and they weren't trying to make it worse or better than it is. I believe a lot of the bad reviews are from people who always expect the best movie ever and don;'t look much deeper than that so I gave it a nine for just that.

Worth a watch in the morning
21 April 2021
I was waking up, and it's an easy movie to follow with a decent script, historical value because of the Civil War timeframe. I recommend this adventure is one you could add to movie night and be ok with.

10 for action

First theatrical visit since covid and it was the right choice. One of those non-stop rides once it gets underway. Go out and see it! I mean it's crazy fun. Should have been 3 hours.

"Headache" jumpscares drawn out
22 December 2020
This movie has enough content to make a good psychological thriller. I was scarred, because the jump scenes were so obvious. They walk around sneaking in the dark with spirit boxes/walkie talkies listening close as possible to static. Or sneaking around in the worst places hitting the flashlight because it's pitch black and the battery ir failing. I use the mute button on these scenes. Its not worth it. You know something is about to make a loud appearance. Lack of script and voice dubbing from French to English was pretty bad also.

Hard to understand
24 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
We should have seen the collision. I didn't understand that it was actually the killer, or that he all the sudden was killed by accident possibly going to the park where the girl was. I could have seen if Jack cut the break line and he went over the cliff. Or if the super idiot swat team left leaving Jack to shoot the killer. There's some good acting but the script seems a bit off to me.

Great Rob Zombie film
24 August 2020
Rob Zombie has created his personal genre within horror. I really liked 31 and I would go see another like this. Can he get one released by Halloween?

It was good
24 August 2020
I liked the way the plot went. I didn't like the ending. I didn't like when Mom was followed to the hotel. The girl didn't seem for real that she would get so upset on that way. I wanted the scenes to go a different direction. It seemed a bit pre Tarantino. Maybe he could do a remake.

I was following the plot until...
24 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
He killed the young man. It would have made for better writing if he didn't. This was the highest point in the movie when they met face to face, and the kid was 17 years old. He could have said, "If you touch her again I'll kill you!" or, believed more that it was her fault. Which it really was because he was too young to know better amd he just liked having sex at that age constantly. Anyways, it was good but I'm tired of movies taking the easy way out.

Very well done
10 August 2020
Great special effects, music, editing, directing, producing. I hope the actors are making movies still. Only problem, Ive noticed on movie trends recently, is that the teenage/high school films aren't doing as well these days. Im wondering if the script can be adapted to an older crowd. Yes, I thought it was really professionally done and ai liked it.

Funny movie, high score "8"
4 August 2020
Why are people giving this movie a 2 or 4? This is a fun movie with funny actors, plus the actors are the producers so they can do what they want! I recommend, great comedy with local LA actors shot on LA. It may yet nominated for something. Thats where you'll can look to see what genre this movie is.

Weak writing made it confusing
3 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I would have given 6.5 but I gave a difficult 7. Concept same as millions of other survival movies. It could have been better directed, there was a decently talented cast but there were to many jump cuts and quick camera movements to make it seem more exciting, but it wasn't working. I think with that one fix it could be much better. The monsters were pretty awesome, like underground Xenomorphs. Then I did't understand the ending. Was the lady impregnated by one or something and ran away to have the monster baby? Were these just added twists because the script was to weak on the dialogue?

You hope they survive
3 August 2020
Very well made film. I have it a 7, only because it's not my favorite genre. I liked it because of the producing (it's filmed in a beautiful snowy mountain) and if you like snow, (it's supposed to be New England) you'll enjoy. The story though is heartbreaking, and I found that I was trying to make the best decisions for them and hoping they would make it. I think it is a good movie worth watching.

Wishmaster is awesome
28 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The best villain to have a franchise in a while. I hope the original Wishmaster returns in a 5th movie. And bring the Wishmaster from part 3 and 4 in to part 5. For me, it seems reasonable for there to be more than one Wishmaster since his goal is to take over the world with all his bros. when he gets the summoner to give him the three wishes. And what if on part 6, the Djyn get the wishes and have to be stopped some way by God since he seems to be the Djyn enemy who had him live in the world of fire. Maybe they can travel in time and being back Merlin or even all the way back to creation and help the Djyn to not be sent to fireworld and the Djyn would never exist! Perhaps he wasn't such a bad guy before he is casted out. Maybe Greek Zeus created it all and they goto Mount Olympus! If you use this idea make sure I get royalties for my intulectuql property.

Horror flick or art film
30 March 2020
First thing that makes me say wtf is after about a minute in and you realize this is in black and white. (boring) Next, theres virtually no talking in the film. Raimi, or another horror producer should remake this, and add a lot of gore, music score, and make it in color. I like that theres no FX. The photography is good also. It goes on and on though because of those reasons.

Well worth watching
18 February 2020
Good idea for a scary movie. I really liked the way the movie progressed, and we saw how the characters developed. The ending wasn't that great, very typical rushed scene without any resolution. As one sister was looking for her twin in the forest, I thought they would develop the plot and make her actually them both the same person with a dual personality. It had some scary scenes, the ending could have been better. I didn't understand what happened to Sarah.

Scary, Halloween movie
22 August 2019
Takes place Halloween. I liked the scary moments and plot twists. Left me feeling there could be a part two. They could have explored the twists more and resolve some of the main parts. Still, it's not bad, and I could follow the narrative which was enjoyable.

Like being on location
28 July 2019
It's like these guys just went out on Hollywood Blvd and shot a film for fun. All the character we're likable and since it was a film about actors, they got to really try and act their best. The production value could have been better, but you do get the feeling of being there. Tarantino toned down the drive in nostalgia style and was able to make a smoothly flowing film that incorporates that style. It could have been a drawn out film where the villains and hero's get to know each other, and long scenes where they became friends then turned against each other later when the truth comes out about how they really are. It was cool though, grindingly as it was shot on the street.

Could have been different and understandable
5 January 2019
I liked the idea of escape rooms that can kill. They didn't take it in any direction, and the ending was stupid. I never knew who was doing it either! It tells a cute story, I follow, but there's no more than that, and I barely felt anything for the characters when they were in danger. Great idea, could have Ben written better because the idea is really realavant these days because escape rooms are popular.

Pretty good, similar plot line and structure
11 December 2018
It follows closely to other Rocky films, but they have done a really good job making it relevant to the next generation. It has good actors for sure. I thought they could have had some other actors from the original movies as support. It was good though. And the boxing was exciting.

Shay is great, not just another exorcism
5 December 2018
Shay is great, it has that feel of When a Stranger Calls, and she is awesome and entertaining. It was good, because there's a plot to follow that is more than someone possessed. I'm a fan, and I hope she's in some more films. It was good to see a horror film in December. Ok, the ending was rushed no doubt for the last 15 minutes, like they lost some film which I didn't really get. Possibly because the actual demon was not introduced as Pazuz in the Exorcist. Well done though, horror film 2018 worth seeing.

Getting more complex
23 November 2018
With Depp and Law now the big stars, there is more thought put into the writing. There are hints of te Potter films, which may be the best direction as to keep close to Rowling's style.

Decent film, not Hollywood
8 October 2018
I knew when films started coming from Georgia, they would be off beat, hill billy trash. I am from NC and just moved back from Los Angeles where I was so happy to escape the Bible Belt and live where things just are as they are. I would like to know if a film was shot in GA before I buy a ticket. Anyways, I'm a fan of Jack Black so I went. He's good in it. I give it a six. I don't see where they were going with this, but I suppose it's a nice Halloween film.

I expect better from Lionsgate
20 August 2018
Lionsgate has some good horror movies. This one tried to be a good movie, but failed because of typical scenes from b rate films, bad choices, and bad script.

Best summer release yet
30 June 2018
If you saw the first one you must see part two. There are some good plot twists within the action. I'm glad they made a sequel. The cinematography in Mexico is visually amazing.
