WandaVision: Breaking the Fourth Wall (2021)
The wall is broken.
The fourth wall breaks and the main villain may finally be here. The episode does a decent job of bringing in the 2000's and bringing in the mystery of the reason. It is setting up the penultimate episode.
The Umbrella Academy: 743 (2020)
That twist!
The episode was mediocre at best but the there was some twists allowed for a higher elevation. If you have made it this far then enjoy the episode.
Luther: Episode #1.3 (2010)
Slow burn
This episode was a slow burn with a frame that did not seem ideal. The plot was slow and Alice relationship is getting old. The rest of the episode was solid and worth the minutes.
Extraction (2020)
A simple distraction
Extraction is a movie that leans on great filmmakers and stars to try to make it an excellent movie. Unfortunately, the movies plot is thin and the decent but never anything spectacular. For a movie backed by great people we as viewers should except better. By the end everything is predictable and you are not really impressed or disappointed.
Annabelle Comes Home (2019)
Kid Friendly
As the conjuring universe pushes forward the protagonist shift toward kids while the material becomes lighter. Anabelle Comes Home is a semi entertaining movie that fails to capture the scares of the its predecessors. Anabelle relies on cheap over used scares and seems to tone down the scares to maybe reach a younger audience. Hopefully the next installment will improve on these mistakes.
Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019)
Home run
Spider-Man far from home manages to pull off a successful sequel with a lot riding on its shoulders after endgame. Tom Holland once again kills the role of spider man while Jake does a stellar job as Mysterio.
Friend Request (2016)
Friend Denied
Friend request is weak movie and does not deliver on the scares. The social commentary that social media is bad is a great start but the character development and plot hang on a thin thread that could not even hold the antagonist past her hanging in the first act. If you like B rated movies it might be good for you if not look elsewhere
Mary Poppins Returns (2018)
The Return
Mary poppins looks to capture the magic of her past, in which most parts she does. While Emily Blunt, is not Julie Andrews she still did a fantastic job at portraying Mary Poppins. However, at times this Mary is a little more showy then she was years ago. The rest of cast fulfilled their roles beautifully. However, at times this Mary is a little more showy then she was years ago. The scores were good but not great and the choreography came short of expectations. The scenes had very little set up for characters and rather focused on animations to display the songs. This took away from the human part of the experience. Overall, Mary Poppins is good but does not fully capture the magic from before.
Jigsaw (2017)
Mediocre puzzles
The latest installation in the series falls short of average. Jigsaw sets up a very basic sub plot and puzzles that aren't actual puzzles. The previous movies have had puzzles that actually had to be thought about while this one has moral dilemmas. The gore even falls short of its predecessors. It's good to watch if you have seen the others if not it's probably a waste of time.
Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018)
Summer action
Fallout is a movie with excellent set pieces and action sequences. The cast does a great job to keep the movie fast paced and interesting.
Transformers: The Last Knight (2017)
Hopefully the Last
The movie is poorly written, the action is does not differ from the other transformers. It is just an other box office movie that is pumped out.
Bright (2017)
Brightless
Bright has a strong cast that tries to work with the weak script but even with great actors it is not enough to make the movie good. The movie seems like an excuse to shove a whole bunch of lore and political satire into a movie. It is a slow start and really does not go anywhere. The action sequences work but there is not enough to keep interest.
Deadpool 2 (2018)
A dead sequel
Deadpool 2 has so much potential and a lot ridding on it from its predecessor. The movie however failed to meet these standards. You go in not expecting much of a plot but rather elevated humor. The movie seemed to have lowered its standard of jokes to more of a high school standard and those who know a lot about pop culture. The first film had more of a witty and seamless flow to the jokes. While this one seemed forced and relied too much on one liners and f bombs. The jokes that do land make up for some of the bad ones.
The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015)
The simple spies
The man from uncle tries to play off as if it's characters are sophisticated but they are shallow in development at best. The actors that were chosen do a great job at working with what they are given, which helps elevate the movie slightly. The plot is simply and overused but it is still entertaining to see the character dynamic but nothing will come across as surprising. It's easy to just sit down and watch if you are not wanting to be too invested.
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
A true marvel
Infinity war had so many expectations going into it. Almost every expectation was met when it was finished. The movie does a fantastic job juggling all of the different characters together while weaving the last 10 years of marvel together. They were able to make it emotional and intense without a dull moment. The movie has its negatives but the positives far out weigh them. For a movie of this scope and magnitude it did a great job.
