Storks (2016)
Ridiculously underrated!!!!
Couldn't be more shocked at the rating this movie has! For me and my young family it ticks all the boxes; animals, humour (for both children and adults), great cast, great storyline, teary moments, colourful...
my partner and I always cry at the ending without fail, and cry from laughter throughout. Seriously could not recommend this movie more. Great for adults and children!
Bump (2021)
Enjoyable, quirky, and poignant
Most of the low ratings are from ignorant right wing bigots who have their nickers in a knot that the main character is an outspoken feminist, and that the show as a whole is progressive and has a more diverse cast than what white Australian boomers are used to. Overall the show is easy to watch and very enjoyable, but also manages to be poignant and informative. As a young mother myself I related to many of olly's struggles and experiences. Excited for season 2!
Aquaman (2018)
Amber Heard is the only redeeming quality
I don't know who decided to spin Aquaman into more of an Ironman character, except more annoying and childish, but whoever did needs to be sacked. Jason Mamoa's acting in this film is subpar and the whole thing just feels basic. Amber Heard is the only redeeming quality. Without her I'd give this movie a 0 if I could.
Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006)
Horribly good
I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about this film. It's captivating, but at the same time almost too slow and convoluted. It's beautiful, but at the same time disgusting and terrifying. There's almost too much going on, and yet there's barely any dialogue from the protagonist (does he ever speak??) ... and yet, he still manages to express himself and his thoughts to the viewer fairly clearly, even though a lot of his actions have to be deconstructed by the viewer to figure out why he behaves in such a way...
It's very very artistic (in a good way), but it's a different "artistic" than I'm used to. It's not quirky, warm, or "endearing"... it's in a whole other realm and I don't know if I'll ever see anything else like it (I kind of hope I don't...)
It's an extremely interesting film and I would definitely recommend it, however, years after I initially watched it, I still feel slightly sick and disturbed thinking about this film... It has definitely left an impression. Not the kind of film I'd go back and watch a 2nd time as it still kind of haunts me, but the fact that it has had such an impact on me is testament to the film.
Go ahead and give it a watch, but don't expect the "artyness" of the film to be warm, inviting, or endearing... It's haunting, revealing of human nature and desire, and mind-boggling. At times it all becomes too much, you just have to hang in there and take a while to process the film after viewing before garnering a fixed opinion of it (it's taken me over 7 years and I'm STILL insure of how I feel).
I'm surprised the rating on this isn't higher (even though I've only scored a 7). I assume there are countless people out there who would adore this film. I just think I watched this film when I was too young (around 15), and it has scared and scarred me a little. Now that I'm older I can appreciate it more, but it still leaves a dark and twisted aftertaste which makes me cringe at the thought of watching it again. I realise I probably should watch this film again (with my newfound maturity and outlook on life/the world), but I honestly don't think I can bring myself to do so... I just wish I didn't watch it when I was still young enough to be afraid of the bloody dark. I thought it was a rom-com!!!!
Overall, I think this film is horribly good and deserves to be watched by everyone. It's too maniacal, thought-provoking, raw, and twisted to be loved by all, but that's also what makes this film stand out. I can see that this film would go straight over some peoples' heads and be labeled as trash. You just have to pay attention and have a "think outside the box" mentality... Just watch the film and you'll understand why I'm so conflicted about this bloody film!!!!
The Walking Dead (2010)
NO
Do people really like this? If so, WHY? They should employ George R R Martin to write the next season so he can just kill everyone off and put us out of our misery. What a terrible show.
Game of Thrones (2011)
Everyone dies but it still amazin
Yah sooo basically everyone has sex, and then dies in some twisted way, even the animals (ESPECIALLY the animals).
It's an amazing show tho, and that's proven by the fact that all the fans still watch it religiously(and on repeat) even tho we cry basically every episode.
If you find it too convoluted to follow, ya stupid. Not the shows fault, you just slow. Sorry.
RIP Hodor, a death the world will never forget.
The Alienist (2018)
Ignore The Book Snobs At All Costs!!
To all the people who read the book and don't like the series: WAAA WAAAA!!
The books are great, yes, and the series is also wonderful in its own way. You cannot expect a TV show/ film to mirror the contents of its books, especially when a book has the ability to provide so much more detail, AND when a myriad of directors are employed for different episodes. The TV series has done the book justice, and the cry-babies need to let go of their ego and stop complaining. Yeah you read the books, and are capable of writing a scathing review just to prove how clever you are. UGH get a grip!
I'm so over reading review after review from outraged book snobs who have nothing better to do with their time than whine and complain like a child.
The series is fabulous! The acting, costumes, cinematography, plot, everything! Recommend highly!!
