Saudagar (1991)
OK film, a bit overrated
Its disappointing to see a Subhash Ghai's film containing almost nothing and wasting actors such as Dilip Kumar, Raj Kumar, Jackie Shroff, Deepti Naval, Manisha Koirala. He really had nothing to talk about in this film. The music was below par. If you compare the music of this film with Kalicharan, Karz, Pardes or Hero it was a disgrace. Only the title song Saudagar is where the music director made his best attempt to create melody. The music may have become popular and sold many albums, but that could have many reasons, including good marketing and inducement. The reason for the dushmani was a simple misunderstanding but it was made so complicated with so many characters. Only the dialogs between Dilip and Raj were good to some extent. The scenes were literally written for the dialogues and situations created so that the dialogue can be said. Subhash must have thought that in each scene have lots of people standing and that would make a good scene or a good movie. Subhash had made some good movies like Kalicharan, Karz, Pardes. After Pardes his movies only looked grand but lacked a story and soul. Dilip Kumar was so good in Mashal, Vidhata because he had a good role. The ending also was senseless, where there is no use of brain power on the part of Dilip Kumar or Raj Kumar. The Villains use brain power and the heroes lack it.
Mr. X (2015)
Nothing special in the Effects and run of the mill "Badla" story
We went to see the movie as we had liked the effects in the teaser, because Emraan Hashmi movies are usually good and because it was in 3d. Thought the whole thing would be fun to watch.
Sadly the effects were a copy of hollow man and thus did not appeal. There was no creativity. The guy would switch his invisibility on and off as if there was a defect in his invisibility and no control. The effect of carrying his girl while being invisible was the only new good effect but was already a part of the teaser.
The story was run of the mill "badla" one and not expected from Vikram Bhatt. Effects do not make a movie but there should be a good story.
The songs were irritating and the singer sounds like he has woken up from his sleep and started to sing. The lady's voice was auto tuned. So nothing much was achieved in the music department. The song "you can call me X" was like giving an option to the audience.
The worse thing was that we saw this movie in "Starcity Matunga". We were made to pay 15 bucks for a pair of 3d glasses that we can keep. Unfortunately the glasses were so cheap that there was no 3d effect in some. only half my family was able to see 3d. Even after exchanging the glasses 3 or 4 times we could not see 3d. The staff in the theater were kind enough to help us exchange the glasses but the quality of the glasses had not been tested.
Emraan Hashmi is advised to use his good discretionary powers to only act in good movies and not trust the people who sell him special effects. Also he could select a good boy image, There was nothing much in performances of the other actors. The reason why the invisibility happen was stupid and not convincing. Maybe the twist with which the villain is exposed was the only bit of intelligence in the movie.
Ab Tak Chhappan 2 (2015)
An OK run of the mill movie
Watch it for Nana's acting. Gul Panag is so so. The villains of the movie perform very well and act naturally. The story is run of the mill repeat . We have seen the same story in 100s of other movies and at least a dozen times in Nana's movies. Time pass movie finally. Nothing to write home about. The film will be forgotten in no time I wonder what's the point of making such movies. Technically good. The script would have been good for a serial but not fit for a movie. Nana is still in form though looks a bit old now. He should be given better roles as he can still do justice to any character and the audience still likes him.
Shamitabh (2015)
Good Movie
Average concept and ending. If the director thinks that the ending is out of the box, then it needs to be out of the box and fulfilling for the audience.
Amitabh is great as always is, only his films vary in their performance. Dhanush is OK and not hero material currently but who has seen the future. Amitabh's voice does not suit him. Abhishek Bachchan may have been a better choice for this role. He would have carried his dad's voice easily.
Akshara Hassan's role is small but powerful. Good Job Akshara.
It was unnecessary for the childhood Dhanush to have bashed his teacher, as that's a bad example for kids of any generation. It simply reflects on the background of the decision maker for this scene and one needs to be aware of this.
The movie is average in the beginning, great towards the near end and the end is average again. Music is useless.
Ugly (2013)
Unnecessary ending and bad language, otherwise the movie is good
Please don't use bad language in Hindi movies. None of the parents would like to see their kids exposed to such language.
Ronit Roy is a sensation after Adaalat, so kindly make his roles juicier and his image equivalent to Adaalat.
I don't care if other so called superstars make super money. Give Ronit Roy a role and he will shine.
The bad language was simply unnecessary and reflects on the background of the decision makers.
Ronit Roy in Adaalat represents a person who will go to any extent to prove that Truth prevails. He is the person who has qualities of respect, intelligence, patience and courage.
He is a role model to the youth and not the so called super stars of today who depict violence and robbery.
