Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)

It has been 13 long years in the making and at 3.5 hours long , what an epic come back. Where to start with the review. This was absolutely visually stunning, much like the first one. I was totally transported back to Pandora and was completely invested. I did how ever get bored for about 10 mins then the action kicked in . The meaning behind this film , like the first, us that humans are greedy and destroy all that is good and pure. The part where they were hunting the whale type creatures absolutely destroyed me and I was sobbing. The thing is, that is what we do to the oceans giants. Again Pandora is partially destroyed , just like we are destroying our planet. The theme of family is strong throughout and the dynamic just works so well. I'm just not sure where they can go with a third one with out it being to repetitive , but only time will tell.

The Forever Prisoner (2021)

Painfully true

I have always had a skewed view of the CIA and FBI. After all they Coined the term conspiracy theory to throw people of the scent of what was actually going on. This is even more eye opening of the horrors that the powers that be will goto to get what they want. It is a total abuse of power. A total lack of restraint . Its sadly nothing new though. MK ultra is another perfect example of the CIA going to far. What gives them the right to be able to do this to people is beyond me. I am under no illusion techniques like this are being used still as the US government will go to any ends necessary to get what they want. Even worse they seem proud of it! Terrifying and barbaric.

Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

Never felt emotion like it!

I can honestly say , I thought endgame could not beat such a reaction from the cinema goers ... I was wrong! What an experience .

Tom Holland you played this part beautifully sir. Benedict bought his A game as Dr Strange. Loved seeing Doc Oc and the rest of the old villains .

Fantastic to all the cast .... please stay for the end credits its worth the wait!

What has happened to this show?

This is the first negative review I have had to write on here. New Amsterdam was one of my favourite things to watch. Through the series so far , there is a political issue every episode. Max trying to fix it and it falling on its face. I love that it tackles these things bit this episode it is ridiculous. He's becoming more and more impulsive without thinking his new policies through. Helen is coming unravelled and although it's lovely bloom is in a relationship , she has changed over night! Come on get back to season 1 and 2 writing please!

Midsommar (2019)

To cult or not to cult

Wow. I am not gonna lie , Midsommar has left me feeling somewhat uneasy. Its not a horror in the usual form. It's a total psychological head trip.

I was seriously disturbed in parts. So much so I couldn't watch . Having a fascination with Scandinavia and watching vikings , the sacrifice wasn't what worried me. It was the way they did it and watching Dani become more and more drawn in was upsetting. She just wanted to belong and they played on that.

I know it has mixed reviews and I get why. It was thought provoking and beautiful cinematography. But I couldn't bring myself to watch it again. I think go in with an open mid but be Awre it might play on your mind after watching.

Wolfe (2021)

Don't understand the 6.4 rating

There are so many great reviews on here I don't get the 6.4 rating?

This was great. I binged all 6 as wanted to see what happened each episode.

It's cleverly written , good acting and Wolfe is witty , so clever but watching him struggle with his mental health was hard at times. It makes him real though. The rest of the team all add to the program too. You can sense the family they have built themselves. Didn't take a genius to figure out D was upto something though. Hopefully there will be a season 2.

This show was outstanding on every level. The script , the acting , the emotion. It was funny , happy , devastating, eye opening , thought provoking . I laughed , then cried , got angry , then cried some more. I was even crying after the last episode had finished. Aids has taken so many lives. And it was criminal how gay men were persecuted and treated when it came out . Sad that many of them didn't even believe it was real. The denial from families. The shame and guilt that was felt. Truly heartbreaking. I won't write any more , only spoiler ....everyone needs a Jill . She was an absolute angel. I'll leave it there....

Diabolical

This episode was full of all sorts of emotion. I can not believe the lengths Homelander will goto to get his own way. Tony Starr is incredible at being a villian. Watching him coming more and more unhinged. Stormfront is on another level. I really felt for The Deep in this episode though. I hope he teams up with Butcher and Co after his humiliation. Still one of my favorite shows .

Sobering view on drug use

So where can I start. I watched this film back in 1998. It has always stuck with me. It is a very real , raw representation of how drug culture in the 90s early 2000s was normalized. I myself went there and it was an awful slippery slope. Leo in this film was outstanding . I have no idea why he did not get an oscar for this. His supporting cast are also brilliant. The corruption from swifty, along with the father at the catholic school. It is what every young person needs to watch. It's a harsh reality. I'm watching it currently with my 17 year old.... one massive lesson from this is there is still a huge epidemic still and parents suffering all over world loosing kids to addiction and kids knowing no different... Its harrowing yet so truthful .

Star Trek: Discovery (2017–2024)

Confused ! Why oh why!?

Well , I have put of watching this series as i love the original Star Treks . I was apprehensive and looks like I , amongst many others , was right. I am only on S1 Ep 4! I am so confused. If it's set before Spock Kirk etc , why is there much better technology!? I get that we have better cgi etc but it's not in keeping with a time line. I am confused as to why Micheal has gone from Mutineer to now a hero!? I find her character cold , rude and wooden. Also full of self importance and no smiles! Which is a shame as I love Sonequa in TWD. The Kilngons - dont even go there!? I never remembered them looking like or talking like that!? The only reason why 3 stars is because of the visuals really! I am not sure if I can continue to watch anymore. Its hurting my head trying to make sense of it all!

Incredible, gripped from start to finish

I have just finished season 1. I dont know why I waited so long to watch this! I love a good medical drama , the Good Doctor and The Resident have been my favorites to date , but this has just pipped the post . It's got such a great mixture of stories and characters but isn't confusing at all. It gives a real sense of the good feels , yet isn't cheesy. Yes there are touches on the characters personal lives but it doesn't get in the way of the fact it's a medical drama . I literally can't wait for season 2 to start here in the UK! Jealous of the U.S right now!

The Boys (2019– )

Exciting, refreshing and wonderfully dark!

I stumbled across this show on YouTube as a trailer. So I decided to give it a go. I am so glad I did. I'm on episode number 5 . I don't want it to end! All the actors are well cast , the script and story line is really well written. Homelander is a different level of nasty but it keeps you gripped to find out what he is gonna do next! I am hoping that Maeve will turn and help The Boys and bring down Vaught! The Boys are brilliant vigil antes , Karl Urban is great as Butcher. Intriged how the storyline is gonna pan out with Starlight and Huey! Bring on season 2 !

The Umbrella Academy: The White Violin (2019) Season 1, Episode 10

Addictive but predictable

As it goes , this series has been great to watch. I binged it with my daughter across the weekend. Its refreshing in a series adaptation like this , you can get a good insight into the characters. They all have differnt personalities and work together well but sometimes gets a bit cheesy. The time travel didnt get to confusing and I struggle with that. The first 5 episodes had me hooked but towards the end it got predictable. I called the ending at the end of episode 5 . Luther or #1 became a bore and his feelings for Allison his sibling , was a bit far fetched and unecessary at times. It bought it down a bit. For me Klaus is the most entertaining and funny with his superpower of being able to communicate with the dead. Cha Cha and Hazel are so sadistic , but they make it comical . Mary J Blige plays Cha Cha brilliantly! It'll be interesting to see where they go with the next series.

Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)

Freddie lives on

In one word ... INCREDIBLE Queen have been my favorite band ever since i was a child. I was lucky enough to see them but with Adam Lambert ( who makes a fabulous replacement but NEVER Freddie) . After hearing they were doing this film , i felt a little mixed. As can anyone really play Freddie Mercury? How ever when the trailor dropped , i knew i had to see it ! Rami does a superb job of being Freddie. I can not believe the likeness of all the actors to a young Queen. All cast were really believable. It was full of love , laughter , sadness and truth. Watching a one off unique man and his rise to fame. Seeing his trials and tribulations and most importantly his love for his family and his work. Not forgetting a superb soundtrack. I really hope Rami gets an Oscar for this... he really deserves it. Best film I have watched in ages!

The Good Doctor (2017–2024)

Freddie is a legend

Im not going to write a huge review as one isn't needed. This is my favorite medical drama. It had me hooked from the get go. Brilliant acting , pretty damn good of portraying the struggles of having / the stigma attached to autism . My god son has it. But it paints it in such a positive light that no matter what you can achieve your goals.

Didnt disappoint

I was not sure when i heard they were going to make this book into a t.v show. Although after seeing the trailer i felt hopeful and excited. I love the books so much and when you've created images of characters it can sometimes be hard to see them in physical form. The characters of Diana and Matthew do not disappoint at all. It sticks pretty close to the story and with some fantasy fiction being made into t.v , it can be cheesy . This definitely isnt that ! I am hooked and can nit wait for the next episodes ! Thank you for doing the book justice

Stop Hating !

So I've read alot of the reviews on here. People need to lighten up ! Its a drama. Not real life t.v! Ive watched it from the pilot. Im on episode 9 as in the u.k. It is easy to watch. The characters all have decent back stories. I love they tackle real life issues. Abi the call centre operative is so compassionate and does a great job at portraying a woman looking after her mum with dementia. Yeah it might be unrealistic in some respects but in others the writers cover issues well. I love it as its a bit of escapism ans easy to watch. Cant wait for season 2 !

Supergirl (2015–2021)

super girl..... not quite super man....

I have read a lot of the reviews and I don't see why they are so bad. Admittedly it's not the best adaptation of late, considering the likes of S.H.I.E.L.D , Daredevil , the Flash etc. How ever it is light hearted and refreshing to not see something so dark. Celesta Flockheart plays a good bitch as top editor at the paper, who you can see by the 4th episode is starting to mellow a bit. Obsessed with Super Girl, not seeing who she is even though she is right under her nose as Kara Danvers. Moving onto Kara, I think Melissa plays her very well. Yes she is slightly geeky and can be annoyingly nice, but it's just easy light hearted watching. I do find it somewhat cheesy in places and the facial expressions a little ott. It all seems to have gone very fast in terms of the story line of kara coming out as Super Girl. I have to agree with some of the reviews on here, that I find the fact Jimmy (James) Olsen is a strange love interest for Kara. I'm interested to see if the story line improves and shall carry on watching.

Daredevil: The Ones We Leave Behind (2015) Season 1, Episode 12

friendships foes and fisk

By now Karens character is getting a bit tedious for me. I don't know what it is but she seems to lack substance. She seems to be to desperate but in a washed out sort of way. I am pleased how ever that Matt reached out to Karen and finally admitted he needs support. I can't help but feel sorry for him finding what he did in the heroine factory. It must have stirred up some strong emotion. The way matt followed the music to find the factory was very well done. His moves were very fluid and the stunts were well done.

Bens death was very predictable and I think we knew it was coming. I wish he had got to publish the story though. It gave a large insight as to the actual depravity of fisks character. Even though we as viewers knew his dark side. It is just a shame that they had to involve his mother. Looking forward to seeing what the season finale presents to us.

Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014)

Don't get what all the negativity is for??.....

To be honest,I have seen all the transformer movies and grew up with transformers as a child. I wasn't sure how it was going to pan out, not starring any of the original cast. I've read a lot of negative reviews and do you know what?? I really don't think they're justified. Yes the plot is a bit lame in places but at least it has one. It could have done with half hour being cut off....but.... These films are purely for entertainment purposes. I love all the special effects and cgi. I have 2 small kids and they both absolutely love all the films. Especially this one with the beasts in it. Grimlock has become the new favorite in our house. How ever bee is still mine!! The acting is not the best,and yes it has cheesy one liners etc but that's what these sorts of films are about. I do agree though the girls boyfriends character is shocking and very rude!! People need to lighten up and just enjoy how far the special effects have come on over the whole franchise and how spectacular they actually are.
