Secret Superstar (2017)
Aamir Khan's Diwali gift to all Mothers & Motherhood ★★★★★
Debutant director Advait Chandan has hit the right chords by beautifully portraying the mother-daughter relationship and setting the story in a middle class locality where not only you, your dreams and emotions are also trapped by the 'man' of the house.
This is a story of a teenage girl Insia (Zaira Wasim) who tackling massive challenges imposed by her overtly potent father (Raj Arjun) finally fulfils her dreams of becoming a superstar singer with the support of her helpless mother (Meher Vij), best friend Chintan (Tirth Sharma) and an out of luck music director Shakti Kumar (Aamir Khan). All the performances are so enthralling that it keeps you glued to the screen and makes you give a victory jump at the climax.
On the whole, Secret Superstar is a brilliantly crafted film inspiring people to chase dreams as they do come true, highlighting relevant social issues of patriarchal society and showing the importance of mothers. It's a mother's unconditional love and sacrifice that holds the family together. She sacrifices all her passions and dreams for the sake of her husband and child. Salute to all mothers and motherhood.
Aamir khan never fails to amaze us, never! Do not miss this film.
Dangal (2016)
Fimmaking at its finest. AAMIR KHAN the ISI mark of Indian CINEMA
Anything he touches turns to gold. Be it lover boy, college student, teacher, or wrestler he outshines himself every time. He creates magic with the character and that's perhaps what we expect from him. Every time.
DANGAL is a biopic of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat where wrestling is just an outline of a majestic journey of a father who wants to fulfil his dream through his daughters. It's a story of inspiration, determination, courage and rigidness. The film shines in every department. Acting, Direction, Screenplay, Music everything was perfect.
There is not a single dull moment. You will laugh, cry, cheer, shout, jump off your seats in this 2.45hrs incredible journey. Goosebumps guaranteed.
Dare not miss this. These kind of films are rarely made. Even without a Supreme Court order you will feel like saluting. And hey all you male chauvinist, change your thinking else 'DANGAL hoga'
Dilwale (2015)
Dilwale will give you Dil-Attack (Heart Attack)
Nothing clicks for this film, absolutely nothing. All were looking forward to Dilwale for the Srk-Kajol romance(after so many years), which was very poorly shown. Rohit Shetty could have flew 3-4 less cars and give them more screen-space.
The first 30mins is enough for you to guess the remaining story. Some pathetic comedies+flying cars+bogus acting+flying cars again is what makes Dilwale. Well, nothing more to add. Just SKIP this.
Awful Word of mouth and disappointed fans reactions are a remainder that you cannot sell anything in the name of entertainment. hey Shah are you listening?
Bajirao Mastani (2015)
Mastani overshadows others in this Bhansali's 18th century saga
Going by the trailer we all expected stunning visuals, beautifully choreographed songs and larger than life romance. Well Bhansali didn't disappoint at all on these fields. What's disappointing is the film's 2nd half (1st half was engaging though) and unnecessarily dragged ending.
Ranveer Singh shines as Peshwa Bajirao. He has been give the best dialogues and he executes them really well. His Maratha accent is a cherry on the well baked character. It will be a treat for his fans to watch him as a lover-warrior. Priyanka Chopra played a supporting role (that's what i felt) and she did it flawlessly. Pinga and her love making scene with Bajirao deserves special mention. Deepika excels and proves herself yet again. Its her film. Be it Mastani the warrior, Mastani the lover, Mastani the mother she is splendid in everything. her dialogues were clap worthy. Mastani will remain one of her carrier best performance.
Music was okay, dance choreography impressive.
Bhansali, who is always knows for tampering scripts (be it written dramas or historic ones) has presented this story efficiently. You can blame him for dragging the ending but you will love him for the artistic and grandeur presentation of the same.
MUST WATCH it guys and if you are planning to watch either this or Dilwale, then definitely go for this one, at least for Deepika Padukone.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015)
Salman and Kabir Khan's best movie till date
This film couldn't have released at a better time than this. Saying this let me add that Salman has broken his typical zone of nonsense masala entertainers with this. Salman as Pawan Kumar Chaturvedi aka Bajrangi is the man with golden heart who takes the responsibility of returning a 6 year old dumb Pakistani girl to her home. He portrays the characters very well. Superstar Salman is missing along with his cheesy dialogues but well you can see Salman actually acting after years. He puts everything at stake and driven by his faith in Bajrangbali, he ensures that the lost girl makes it back home in one piece. Salman the one man army.
Harshaali Malthotra with her winning smile, her large, playful eyes and a face that can melt the toughest heart is the soul of the movie. She portrays her character brilliantly. Her expressions will steal your heart. Even a die hard bhai fan will become her fan after watching the movie.
Nawazuddin as Chand Nawab yet again gives his best. The chemistry between him and Salman and a few dialogues between them is clap- worthy. Kareena as Rasika do not have much important role but she did her part very well. Even the small role by Om Puri was impressive.
Music is good. praises for Pritam. Except 'Selfie le le' and 'Aaj ki party' all the songs are good and they carry the story forward.
Kabir Khan has presented the story efficiently. Backdrop of Kashmir added extra beauty to this film.
Go on watch it. It will surely touch your heart.
Bãhubali: The Beginning (2015)
Indian Cinema achieves new Heights. Jai Mahishmathi
S.S.Rajamouli has proved that for achieving great heights all you need is dream and ambition. The most expensive Indian film turns out to be a visual treat with extraordinary vfx and breathtaking camera-work. The snow-clad mountains, beautiful waterfalls and stark battleground were really praiseworthy. Among the performances all were good but Prabhas and Rana Daggubati stands out. Prabhas as Shiva is exceptional as the lead, hulking yet charming. Rana Daggubati as Bhalladeva is perfectly cast as the villain, his performance layered with subtlety and nuance. But the film belongs to one man, Rajamouli. He skilfully combines the crucial characters and their distinct motivations, adds awesome CGI to it and takes us on a 160 mins adventurous journey of love, hatred and war. Overall Bahubali is EPIC and a sure shot Blockbuster. The first part finishes on such a curious note that you wish the next part releases this year only.
Badlapur (2015)
Good Revenge Saga but could have been better
Although Nawazuddin steals the show with his maniacal-deceptive- cunning performance, BADLAPUR is definitely a game changer for Varun Dhawan. Director Sriram Raghvan tells us about an ordinary man who went on doing extraordinary cruelty to avenge his family's death. This story is dark and violent yet different from stereotype thrillers. First half is brilliant, you cannot take your eyes off the screen for a single moment. Second half doesn't live up-to the expectation, story telling could have been more tight and impactful. Varun Dhawan as Raghu has delivered a performance that will be remembered for years, you will get to see a completely different Varun. He has brilliantly portrayed his character and makes the audience feel for him. Nawaz, well every time he manages to surprise his audience. His character Laik has weak physique and cunning brain. Some of his interactions were mind-blowing and claps worthy. Both Varun and Nawaz have carried the film really well on their shoulders. Yaami Gautam, Huma Qureshi, Radhika Apte and Vinay Pathak impress in their cameos. Sachin-jigar's music is good, thumbs up for 'jee karda'. Climax of the film is really impressive and i must say Sriram(after his poor Agent Vinod) is back with a bang. Oh yes, do not miss the beginning.
