Worth the Oscar
18 February 2022
I did not know this movie won the 2015 oscar for best foreign movie when I watched it (in 2022), but I am glad it did. It is surprising though, when you think of the hero of the movie being a future nun. Sometimes the movie takes a guilty pleasure to try and pervert the nun, but it is not going too far in this direction, for the good of the movie. Loved the way it was written and filmed in black and white. Quite slow though, but short.

I should have seen it in the 90s

Warning: Spoilers
At 33, I am not marvelled by the epic in this movie. The overuse of the original score and loving eyes, plus the tendency to keep the hero and his loved one alive no matter what have left me with a bitter taste. More blood than psychology in here. Not even remotely as good as Dancing with the Wolves. Even tjough I admire everything Daniel Day Lewis has done.

Fun
18 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Not a masterpiece, difficult to believe it was nominated fot the oscars. It's fun though and sometimes clever (loved the political rallies in the movie!). But if this movie is politically clever, then The interview also is. It's just an average+ comedy in the end.
