The Marksman (2021)
Thank God you're OK, son.
22 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Way better than I expected it to be. Best Liam Neeson movie that he's made in years. Spoilers ahead... could have done without the "Man on Fire" ending even though they left it ambiguous. Also, why in the world did they burn all the money? You would think when the kid gets to Chicago that his relatives could use a couple of bucks maybe give him a college education? Anyway, I enjoyed the grit and the thoughtful nature of the script. There was genuine tension and drama throughout. A definite good watch.

Give God and Hope a Chance!
22 April 2021
This was a powerful and emotional movie. It's sad that so many hate-filled, lost and hopeless individuals left reviews simply because they are angry at life and are hollow and empty inside. The message of this movie would do them good. God is Hope and there is something beyond this life. So, quit being depressed and angry at the world and look at the bigger picture and accept God's love. Look into it it's everything...

Moving and Impactful... See for yourself
22 April 2021
If you rate this remarkable tale low simply because you're a bigot against Christianity then shame on you. For those that actually saw it, I'm happy to agree that it's a wonderful experience. And, that is just what this film delivers... an experience. It's well structured and well written and very inspirational. A truly revealing look at God's love and how life is filled with miracles if you ask for them and are paying attention.

Thunder Force (2021)
Worst Movie of this Century.
10 April 2021
Twenty years in and it's still possible for a movie to come along and be so awful that it grabs the title of worst of the "new" century. Some challenge to overcome and watching this unfunny mess. If I didn't know better I'd say this movie was just recycling the same formula as McCarthy's earlier and more successful movies. She plays yet another brush abrasive and idiotic typical straight line character. This movie was painful to endure. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE.

Tom Holland had better pray his Spider-Man gig doesn't go away. If something this bad is what he chooses to do between his spider movies then I feel sorry for him. Both he and Daisy Ridley have all the charisma and charm of a wet potato sack in this movie. I can't convey how awful this experience was adequately enough.

What a beauty!
5 March 2021
This episode is worth it just for natasha henstridge. That woman is all kinds of beautiful. Hypnotic as she eats up the screen. You can watch this episode with the sound off and still absolutely love it.

The Westerner (1940)
Sorry but this is a tedious burdensome film
1 March 2021
I love this cast that's why I finally checked this out but my goodness it isn't a very good film. It has the production values of a 1927 movie. When watching this, you can't believe it was made after Gone with the Wind and Wizard of Oz and other classics from the year before. It plays rough and without depth. Plus, why do they think you would sympathize with the Walter Brennan character? The character is atrocious. Overall, a movie that needs the fast forward button just to make it through a viewing.

Mind Numbing
16 February 2021
Yeah, this isn't a deep dive in to anything but tedium. I absolutely love Jimmy Stewart but he is wasted "riding a greased pig" the way Fonda's character states it. Just a lot postering and too much sniveling. Very disappointed given this cast.

GREAT Old School Fun
16 February 2021
I honestly miss shows like this one. It wasn't afraid to let men be men and women be women. Was nothing woke about it yet the women are strong and intelligent as well as being sexy. They own their sexuality and display it. The men own their masculinity and James Caan handing off the Tom Selleck was perfection. Episodes range from the complex and emotional to the bizzare and fun. It's worth owning every single one if you love good TV adventure.

Superb, Compelling and Inspired
8 February 2021
Michael Landon was a wonderful human being and a superb actor. His skills as well as his heart are on display in this wonderful TV drama. I appreciate most every episode. One of my favorites involves him reuniting with Lorne Greene. That episode will make you tear up every time. Like most other offerings, this show is worth your while and worth a watch over and over again. Bravo to everyone who made this show an inspirational joy.

Slow bubble but never boils...
3 February 2021
This movie does keep your attention all the way through and Denzel Washington is brilliant as usual. However, it's exactly like putting a pot of water on the stove and waiting for it to boil but it never does. You keep watching it and watching it but the boil never happens and then it's over. It does have an intriguing ending that makes you think but it's not satisfying whatsoever.

Middle of the road with definite merit
21 January 2021
It's hard to review this movie because it was all over the place. Slow, grungy and methodical but not bad. Performances are top-notch and there is character arc. You are invested even though it is a dry watch. Completely middle of the road but in this era middle of the road is entertaining. Just be warned, old west real world dank and grit. You literally see not one smile or happy occurance for 95% of the run time.

WandaVision (2021)
Unfocused Garbage
16 January 2021
Maybe it's not fair to judge something so early but what I've seen so far is absolute garbage. It's unfocused uneven and completely lacking in charm. They've managed to take the established chemistry we've seen before from these great characters and ruin it. It's like they actually have no chemistry on screen. Everything that unfolded plays as boring and uninteresting. I expected way way better from Marvel's first Disney plus effort. Here's hoping it gets better.

Stunning and remarkably good. Was rocking back and forth in my chair!

Honestly, this is one of the best films of the year if you're looking for a disaster film. I know how that sentence sounds after the disaster known as 2020. Still, this is the smart man's action disaster movie. I think the people that had problems with this movie are genuinely dumb and wanted to see The Rock running around in a CG video game. This movie is not that. It's intelligent, real and you emotionally connect with the characters. Honestly, the acting in this movie is award-worthy.

Crazy ...just what 2020 calls for...
29 December 2020
This was the most insane Christmas movie of all time. Dark violent and completely off its nut. Exactly what the year 2020 deserves for a Christmas movie. I don't know why I don't hate this movie but I don't.

Let Him Go (2020)
Depressing, slow and unsatisfying
7 December 2020
Sad to see Kevin Costner so willing to lend his name to a depressing meandering waste of film. The only reason I saw this thing was because of costner. I'm sorry that I did. The plot was rather thin and unbelievable. Every scene droned on and flowed into the other in a slow depressing creep toward an unsatisfying ending. This was the movie equivalent of a low-level sinus headache.

Student Film Quality
11 November 2020
This film was embarrassingly bad. It's like a student film with no budget. The actors looked bored and the level of writing hits below student level. Even in the quarantine era this was not worth watching in any way shape or form.

Jack Ryan (2018–2023)
Season 2 BETTER than Season 1
14 October 2020
There, had to be said. Viewers whinning about season 2 have forgotten how bad season 1 was. Remember, season 1 was filled with Muslim politically correct nonsense and shallow writing period. At least season 2 knew what it wanted to be. An action adventure with flashes of Jack Ryan being highly intelligent. While not great, at least season 2 was engaging.

Smart and Enlightening!
11 October 2020
This is simply an amazing documentary. So well structured and extremely smart. Breaks down pure facts and combines them with perfect conjecture but all with logical base points. Everyone involved in this masterful documentary should be proud. And honestly, every American should see this before they cast their vote in November.

This movie is atrocious. It takes the wonderful original and flips it into a modern version from hell. It's insulting to young women it's insulting to the viewer. The lead character is one-dimensional and shallow and, apparently, is infallible because she is a woman. The entire "chi" concept is ridiculous here. Even the antagonist is flipped halfway through because she is a female. This is the definition of woke nonsense and they don't even understand why people will hate this entire movie. It's not because it's female empowering. It's just the opposite. It belittles the character and it insults the viewer.

Wonderful and Amazing Escapist Entertainment
24 October 2016
Way back when I first heard that Doctor Strange was being brought to the screen I was a bit worried. How could they translate the complexity of character and his true coolness but stay away from the cheeseball stuff? Dress a guy up like the books and remain true to the seriousness of the character? Well, they managed to not only pull it off but deliver one of the best hero origin films ever made.

The director knew that you had to establish and truly care about the character. Making it grounded but still trippy really helps give it a flavor unlike any other comic adaptation. The Harry Potter meets Iron Man meets Ant-Man flavor was there yet it all feels unique. The MCU magic is there literally. Everything established in the Captain America films and both Avengers pays dividends in a way here. The universe has been established wonderfully and this film does the best job to date playing in that universe. Everything and every scene packs some sort of punch and resonates with true style and heart. They really let the action flow but also allow for key development of the overall story and over concept. This also allows them to probe deeper into the character's personalities. ALL the characters even the ones with smaller roles get to shine. This heightens the tension, so often missing from lesser comic-book movies, and adds real weight to the action sequences which are thrilling and often mesmerizing. Add more than a dash of thriller aspects and a few new characters that steal every scene that they appear in.

I honestly can't think of one way to improve this film. The result is a movie that's just flat out exceptional and that honestly delivers the best visuals I've ever seen in a movie.

Cookie Cutter Cheese
1 March 2014
Warning: Spoilers
My head is telling me to rate this thing low but my gut is saying something else. The entire movie is cookie cutter 1980's type cheese with an updated tech flare. The ending and reasoning for the entire film's events is eye rolling bad. They played it so politically correct and safe that it really kills the film. Yet, I was interested all the way through. Liam Neeson somehow makes a bad action script work somehow. This is either a guilty pleasure or I'm guilty of liking Liam Neeson too much and overlooking what a lot of people will consider a badly written movie. I guess I'm going to let my brain win out because I just can't justify recommending this movie even though it kept my attention.

Delivers Throw-Back, Good Old Fashion Action Fun
29 January 2013
Arnie is back and I'm stunned that this movie is far better than expected.

It knows exactly what it is and what it wants to be and delivers the throw-back, good old boy action fun. Including the lovely Jaimie Alexander with the good old boys was a wonderful choice! The action is vintage 1980's mixed with the proper amount of current blood and guts violence. Sure, people shake off serious knife wounds and gun shots like paper cuts but somehow it all works. There's also the right amount of humor that doesn't cross the cheesy line. Although, there's a nice grinding of cheese distributed throughout. The good guy characters connect emotionally just enough for the viewer to care and the sight of Arnie gripping and ripping with a shotgun has to make an action junkie's day.

(PS- The car stunts were quite cool. A Corvette ZR1 and A Camaro ZL1 !!!)

The Avengers (2012)
An Unstoppable Force of Awesomeness! All Hail The New King!
12 April 2012
I have got to tell anyone who will listen that this is one of THE best adventure movies I've ever seen. It's almost impossible to convey how pumped I am now that I've seen it. I purposefully avoid hyping myself for movies because when expectations are too high, nothing seems to be able to reach them. I usually avoid the hype train whenever possible. That said, I was jacked to see this movie and was fully aboard the hype train. It couldn't be helped. So, I was certainly open to intense disappointment had this movie not been good. I'm so happy to report just the opposite has happened.

The only word I can think of to describe this movie is AWESOME. It's amazing work and everything I had hoped for and more. It's exceptional entertainment for the uninitiated but it has everything a fanboy could want to be sure. It has every little nuance of what a fanboy wants to see. One of the MANY things I loved was the tension and flat out conflict that arises between team members. It's not a two dimensional "team wonderful that bands together to fight crime ho ho ho." Most don't like each other at fist and there is so much texture to be played. That is great because so many of these characters are larger than life. They have egos and the big guns aren't used to working with other people or even playing by the rules. Stark, Thor and Banner all work "the other side of the fence" so to speak. Then there's the Widow, Hawkeye and Captain America who are used to following orders and playing within a command structure. They are all thrown together in a wonderful and, best of all, believable fashion. Again, more than I ever dreamed possible.

The entire cast really delivered. You needed more than just action actors or stunt doubles to play all these parts. The pathos is there but so are the timing and true deep performances. Look, I was missing Ed Norton as much as anyone on that hype train I talked about but I'm so happy to say that Mark Ruffalo won me over. I hope he's locked up for the long haul because we don't need any more changes. Three was the lucky number for movie Banners. Every other actor in Avnegers that we've seen before is BETTER than their previous incarnation (EVERY single one) with the possible exception of RDJ as Stark. He's great but it's hard to top his take on the character from the original Iron Man in an ensemble movie. I also have to fully disclose that I'm insanely attracted to Scarlett Johansson. I thought her Widow character was amazing but I'm definitely judging that through rose colored glasses. The character arcs that run there course during this film will surprise a lot of general audiences expecting nothing more than a Transformers type popcorn scarfdown.

I honestly don't want to give away ANY of the movie with this review because this is one film that needs every scene to be savored. Do yourself a favor and remain unspoiled. It's how I saw the movie (apart from what the trailers showed) and even though you're obviously reading this review, read no others with any kind of spoilers whatsoever. Experience the awesomeness for yourself. Avengers as a movie and as a team on screen is an unstoppable force. I'm just going to say, Hulk & Thor combination equals AWESOME and leave it at that. This movie defines MUST SEE.
