Monsters of War (2021)
If I could have given it a -1
Oh, Monsters of War, what a cinematic masterpiece! I mean, who wouldn't want to watch a movie that combines bad acting, boring scenario, and mind-blowingly terrible CGI? It's like they took all the ingredients for a disaster and baked them into a cake of cinematic catastrophe. Bravo, filmmakers!
Let's break it down, shall we?
1. Acting Excellence -The actors in this film must have attended the prestigious "Overacting Academy." Their performances were so cringe-worthy that I couldn't help but wonder if they were secretly auditioning for a community theater production of "Hamlet."
2. Scenarios Galore - Thirteen scenarios in a dozen? Genius! Because who needs originality when you can recycle the same tired plotlines over and over again? I was on the edge of my seat, waiting for Scenario #14: "The Hero Loses Their Car Keys." Riveting stuff!
3. CGI Magic -Ah, the special effects! I'm convinced they used a potato to render those monsters. The creatures looked like rejected rejects from a '90s video game. But hey, at least they stayed true to their pixelated roots! 🎮
4. Teleprompter Extravaganza - Every scene felt like a live teleprompter reading. The actors stared blankly into the abyss, reciting lines as if they were reading the morning news. "And now, back to you, Bob, for the weather!"
5. Blackboard Dialogue - The kids, oh, the kids! They spoke as if there was an invisible blackboard in front of them. "Today's lesson - How to emote like a cardboard cutout."
6. Prime Time Disaster - Prime, oh dear Prime. How did you manage to unearth this gem? Did you draw straws in the office? "Congratulations, Tim! You get to upload 'Monsters of War'!"
7. Quality Control:m - And finally, the pièce de résistance: the "better quality." Yes, because nothing screams "quality" like a film that induces eye-rolling, facepalms, and existential dread
So, dear viewers, if you're looking for a movie that defies logic, taste, and sanity, grab your popcorn, dim the lights, and dive headfirst into the abyss that is Monsters of War It's so bad, it's well, just bad. But hey, at least it's consistent!
The Rig (2023)
Why such a bad review guys
I was pleasantly surprised by this series that takes plave on a Scottish oilfield. It shows suspense, distrust, environmental issues. We finished the series within a week because for us it was one of those series that just draws you in. That's why I can understand people downplaying it. Possibly because it is partly related to problems we are seeing in our environment and the polarization between groups and individual people. It might be a bit long drawn in the beginning, I get that, but you are gradually emerged in what really is happening instead if the usual Hollywood shock and awe. But that, for us, is a plus.
Wednesday (2022)
An absolute surprise but a good one
I don't write many reviews but this series deserves it. Cast, special effects, scenery. Colors, lighting. It a feast to the eyes and at times very very graphic In it's bloody portrayals of the fights etc. It' s pretty unique and actually not be compared to the Adams Family movies.
But one thing I didn't like and does a bit of harm to it is the make up. It's sometimes way to ibvious. Looking at Morticia and the headmaster of the Nevermore Academy you see their make up and think what makeup art did that!?!?! Then again Ultra HD does show so much detail... Hoping that Season two will be coming within the next 6 months.
SAS Rogue Heroes (2022)
Absolutely glued to the screen
As the first episode passed on the screen it struck me that this is definitely one of my top 3 favor series of 2022. As my dear dad , may he rest in peace, was a member of the LRDG and following that the SAS and he fought in the rogue heroes regiment for part of WWII it just hit me. Unluckily it was a mini series and dreaded seeing the last episode knowing it might not return. Luckily I found out tonight...although season two is yet to be officially confirmed by the BBC, it is believed there could be at least three more seasons. And I hope it will. The combination of action (not always as it happened with the real desert rats), the modern edgy music and scenery makes it truly enjoyable.
Blackout (2022)
Only 5 minutes....
Five minutes through the y and it already has given me the feeling of 'been there, seen that'. Wtf is wrong with Nolte's acting? Everything! Duhamel?? What's going on with him!?!?
This is an vanilla acme action movie. Bits from so many movies. This movie should have had Segal in it. The main cast might have been promising and could have, with a better storyline, produced something of a reasonable movie but the rest of the cast...wannabe Tony Montanas. Every dog has his day.....but not all movies have their finest hour and a half.
Forgive me for saying this....it is a ludicrous waste of precious movie minutes.
The Bubble (2022)
Ridiculously chaotic but funny
This movie shows how ridiculous we have become due to (a)social media, media in general, internet trollong, the importance of being liked/followed and how roll models (influencers) screw up millennials. Us old generation and even Z understand this movie.
Mother/Android (2021)
No action movie but one that makes you think
1's, 2's,3's? Comeon. It's not iRobot, The Terminator or A. I rising. But it wasn't supposed to be. Yes it slow and if it hadn't been slow it would have missed the point about how far we already are down the A. I. and robotics rabbit hole.
We enjoyed if and stirred conversation about the topic of tech.
October Faction (2020)
Wasn't sure but I actually enjoy it
Tastes in series and movies differ for sure but some of the ratings are very low. I had to get into it and actually nearly quit the series. But from episode 3 I started enjoying it
6 Underground (2019)
Din't understand the negative reviews
Continious action, laughs, some stomach turning moments, not to shanby actors. But if you expect deep intellectual converstations watch The Machinist or
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Ryan is funny and his usual self and I dig it. Just enjoy it or turn it off or walk out. Stop complaining 😉
War of the Worlds (2019)
An adaption but mindgrabbing
Don't understand the negative fuzz. Am enjoying it much more then the Cruise movie. It's global and not just a US based thing. But no US locations either . Love that
Captain Marvel (2019)
Loved the movie apart from
A military grade #biometrics system in #CaptainMarvel is a #Logitech quickcam express from the #90's a bit cheap made me laugh. Lose cable on a non fixed base
J. Kessels (2015)
Such a bad interpretation of Fear and loathing in LA's vegas
It is clear that De Bruyn and J. KESSELS envisaged a Dutch version of FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS (Terry Gilliam, 1998), with fat snacks instead of heavy drugs, but at least as much chaos and paranoia. Gilliams film was also based on a literary source and told about a crazy road trip by the author himself. But in the case of FEAR AND LOATHING, Hunter S. Thompson had more or less copied what he himself had experienced, Drug Visions et al. P.F. Thomése turned things around. He wrote himself in a made-up story and made it into a post-modern joke. In the book that joke works: the reader reads how the writer writes the story he reads. It is the Droste effect for the advanced. But now that the medium has been turned into film, that effect disappears. Without the rawness of FEAR AND LOATHING and without the stratification of Thoméses original joke, J. KESSELS is ultimately quite one-dimensional. Review from film magazine schokkend nieuws
Anna and the Apocalypse (2017)
WTF?!?;!
Where the investors stoned? Or worse zombies. What an awfully boring piece of vegan pie.
Our Planet (2019)
We are the problem
SeeinG this underlines the biggest problem our planet is facing....us. we are like locusts devouring everything in our reach. And what is next? Looking for other planets doing the same. We are our own and nature's biggest enemy. We deserve what we get. The next generation and their offspring are doomed if we do not change but with our present misleadership that is unlikely to happen, it will even be put in a higher gearshift. And those in power will not see the damage they have caused because most of them only care about power, money, happy shareholders and strong economies.
Collateral Beauty (2016)
Just brilliant
Was not sure what to expext apart from a great line up of actors. What a surprise, a happy one. Depth and intelligent and again it shows Will Smith's multi talented acting. Glued to the screen and it felt like being in the theater looking at an old play in a new setting.
Mowgli (2018)
Simple: I just loved it
Yes, like when I was a little boy I loved this movie. I actually liked it better then the last version. Can't make more of it. For me it was worth a 9 and my girlfriend wholeheartedly agreed. Sniffing a tear here and there. It is much more raw though, not sure if small kids below the age of 5-6 should see this, at least not without parental guidance. But having seen all the Mowgli / Jngle book movies I def like this one best. Well done Netflix.
Deadpool 2 (2018)
Absoffinglutely that my neighbours I was loosing it
I laughed so hard that it nearly cracked my livingroom wall and shattered my neighbour's eardrums. Even more then the 1st. See what the 3quel will do. I will be wearing diapers
211 (2018)
When I saw the Russian helicopter I knew this was the wordt try of a mediocre movie
Cage has had his best years and is now doing knock offs of Hollywood police movies. The city felt like a Warner Brothers movie studios lot and when saw the Russian helicopter I knew this was the wordt try of a mediocre movie. I rented it but should have checked IMDB FIRST.
And the line up should have warned me as well.
Fauda (2015)
One of the better tv series on terrorism, human emition and the ever lingering hate between Muslims and Israel in General
Glad Netflix has taken it up on them to make this one of the series to watch on NF. Otherwise it probably never would have gone outside Israel and we would get stuck with Strikeback (good serie as well) and the likes. I would like to see more of these types of series coming from Israel
