Lucky Hank (2023)

Irritating
14 April 2023
I have watched several episodes and each time I find myself getting irritated. I'm not sure why. My irritation is mostly aimed at Hank. It's not just because he is cranky, he just always seems to be at the affect of everything. His life, his wife, his job, his friends.

I have watched four episodes and started my fifth. I have almost turned it off a couple of times before, but stopped myself because I like the actors. I am now completely done.

I started watching not expecting anything. I never watched the other shows that Odenkirk was in. None of the characters are funny, so the show isn't either. They aren't even interesting.

Held My Attention
14 April 2023
Very few shows these days hold my attention. I usually do something else while watching. Not with this show. I watched each episode without distraction over the course of three nights.

Each episode I held my breath while trying to figure out how things would escalate and hoping that it wouldn't go over the top. I am not a fan of gore or unnecessary violence. There wasn't much.

All of the actors were superb. I didn't necessarily like all of the characters, but the actors did an excellent job. I was particularly impressed with the two leads.

I recommend this to other viewers wholeheartedly, but it is not a comedy (even though there are comedians in it). But, there are a some funny moments.

Another reviewer wrote that there shouldn't be a second season. I agree with them. The ending was just fine.

I Keep Coming Back
4 March 2023
I have been watching Joel McHale since Almost Live! In the late '90s. He was funny then and he is funny now.

I have watched 3 episodes and I think it has gotten better each episode. I like all of the actors, with particular kudos to Vella Lovell. She is pretty funny.

People should stop complaining about how unrealistic it is. It is TV. It is a sitcom. It's not a documentary.

Just sit back, enjoy it for what it is. Don't take it seriously, don't be offended. No animals were harmed during the making of the show.

I hope to see more episodes and that the show and characters continue to grow on me.

Interesting Film
15 January 2023
This is not a comedy, black or otherwise. It is a slow, interesting, bizarre movie with a few chuckles.

After reading other reviews regarding the metaphor for the Irish civil war, it makes a lot more sense to me. Life long friends having a falling out. Neither of them seem to fully understand why. The horrible consequence of one of them not listening to the other.

I have a great affinity for the Irish and maybe that is why I really enjoyed this movie. The acting was great and the scenery beautiful.

This is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. It is not for everyone, but you might want to give it a chance.

Fun and entertaining
25 October 2022
I look forward to each episode of this show. I can't say that for many shows. It is entertaining and fun. It can also be brutal (as another reviewer mentioned).

I don't think it would be nearly as good without Samantha Morton playing the lead. She is very good at what she does.

I don't look for shows like these to be true to history (who knows really what went on that long ago). I look for them to be entertaining without being too gruesome.

This is a show I would love to be able to binge rather than have to wait and remember where we are each week. I would recommend to someone who likes period type shows without them having to being spot on.

Hasn't Changed
12 October 2022
When this show first came out I watched it because of Hugh L. He can be very funny.

The show was not funny, so I stopped. I thought I would try again this season and the first episode seems like where I left off last season. People being thrown around due to gravity issues. It seems as though there has been no character development. Couples still arguing the same way as when I left the show last time. How sad.

When did we have to start making our reviews at least six hundred characters long. I don't usually write this much. I think you can convey my opinion in a much shorter message than what is required here.

Bad, just bad
14 August 2022
I tried to like this show. I watched three episodes in a row. Waited a couple of weeks and thought I'd give it a go for the the fourth. It is so bad. I don't think there is any direction. It is just stupid. Don't bother.

Pretty painful
19 July 2022
Kind of painful to watch. I made it 18 minutes. It's too bad, because with better material she probably could be funny. Doesn't really shock or gross me out. It's just not funny.
