The Brink (2020)
An Indy, Post Apocalyptic yarn that drags you in to the story & characters. Worth a look.
An Indy, Post Apocalyptic yarn that was interesting & had good cinematography
reflecting the desolate social & physical landscape where Order has broken down & the prevailing Power determines all outcomes.
Acting was believable & refreshing.
Good storyline, sound was up to scratch & delivered entertainment that saw me watch to the end.
Try it, you might just like it.
Mortal Engines (2018)
Don't listen to the Haters
Don't listen to the Haters
This is an entertaining, visually stunning film with some interesting characters.
Peter Jackson took on the difficult task of bringing this story to film, but he has done it justice.
Will quench viewers thirst for Steam Punk on Screen
Darkest Day (2015)
All in All, Not Too Bad at All & worth a look at!
Don't be put off of the negative reviews on this, as it is a bit of a gem in its own right & shows what can be done on a tight budget & a cast of unknowns.
I personally enjoyed the chaotic shaky filming during the 'cat and mouse scenes' that pitted the infected against the uninfected.
Yeah, sure there was a '28 Days Later' feel about the movie but I didn't find it boring at all.
So much so, I am quietly hoping there will be a sequel with the main character turning up on a beach '28 Weeks Later'
The Infected theme has well & truly been traversed many times but there's still room for an Infected movie with an innovative flair.
In summary: Good cinematography A good story was gleaned out of a cast of unknowns although the odd cast member was a little 'Wooden' in their gesticulations.
Rose above its obvious budgetary limitations.
So yeah, give it a try, if you're an 'Infected' fan this will satisfy your cravings.
The Rover (2014)
Awesome, original , Post Mad Max #1 Tale.
Watched this last night & was amazed at the plot & character development..so much said, but with so little words.
Guy Pearce was excellent as the somewhat disturbed, obsessive Aussie bloke, seemingly at home in the furtherest outbacks of Australia where man not beast is the greatest threat to your existence.
The denouement scene at the end with Guy Pearce, made his obsessiveness make so much sense.
His fellow lead Robert Pattinson shone too, playing the believable A.D.D character with a touch of the Banjo Player from Deliverance in the melting pot too.
This is a grim tale, but quite believable in its depiction of what society might be like when it unwinds & returns to a state of 'survival of the fittest.'
Well worth a watch, you will not regret it.
