Redemption (2022)
To many weeping teens and no GPDR.
There is a sort of notion that there has to be at least 1 teens in her/his difficult years in every crime show these days. The list is endless. The shows premise though excuse this to a certain degree but in thus we constantly see a weeping/,mad teen and a detective making one search after another in the police database constantly disregarding GPDR. The detective even mainly investigates a case of her daughters death rather than the cases assigned to her and ofcourse she unravels everything.
Its braindeath entertainment, perfect for those who just want everything handed to them but not exactly a murder mystery series. We almost know the villans from the start and what the outcome is going to be.
I'm between we got teenage drama with a grandchild dating the wrong criminal boy, a detached dad that suddenly want to be attached dad. And ofcourse in the end we get the OK corral showdown that ends well for our protagonist and everything is well as bad boyfreind and wannabe attached dad s found out. Grandma is subsequently fully accepted by the weeping teen daughter.
The bad cried and the good rejoiced.
Maria Wern (2008)
Tried to watch it..
I have it second chance tonight. The writing is not particularly well seated in reality. For instance. If the leader of the second largest political party in Sweden was an alcoholic and it was public known then she would never had been the leader.
It instantly spilled over into steroe-type forbidden love and annoyed lover colleagues. The scenario is so old and worn out and again in the real world. One or the other would seek transfer. You can't have a professional relationship in the police and be partners too.
The story kept developing stereotypes to the point I shut it off and did something else.
Mars (2016)
A lot of good science but also a a lot of bad.
I gave up on the first season because of a lot of science and the "we are humans therefore we must do very stupid things" attitude.
This continued in the second season.
First off there was the blatant disregard for human life when Lukrum arrives and debris from their landing capsule almost kills two people in suits on the surface as well as taking out an installation.
Their scientific excuse: They could not know where it would land. Wrong: they know exactly in what area it would land. Maybe not down to the last meters but they will know the area the debris will impact. We can do this for planes that breakup in the air on earth and make a predictable area of where to search for debris.
Second off. The CME. Solar storms do not travel with the speed of light. There are hours of warning before the storm arrives in case of a carrington event. On Earth. That warning time is about 24 hours and is essential to put satellites and more into safe mode so that they do not get damaged even in small solar storms.
Third. The fact that they cannot navigate the Martian landscape without GPS (supposedly knocked out by CME) is unbelievable. Astronauts on Mars would have made sure to have a backup plan. Navigating by the stars seem to be an easy one for a computer.
4th. The rover just have to little power and to little air for a vehicle of its size. I event think the astronaut only brought 1 tank of oxygen for her suit but i cannot remember that clearly now.
5th. If a persons body temprature is 29 degrees: They would be passed out in deep coma. Here from wikipedia that seems to be credible
31 °C (87.8 °F) - Comatose, very rarely conscious. No or slight reflexes. Very shallow breathing and slow heart rate. Possibility of serious heart rhythm problems.
28 °C (82.4 °F) - Severe heart rhythm disturbances are likely and breathing may stop at any time. Patient may appear to be dead.
Instead she is breathing heavily and talking and very conscious about Lukrum not f... up her samples. all that at 29 degrees body temperature.
I gave up again.
It is some pretty basic stuff they dont display correct.
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
Bold new direction and style
Having seen the first 2 episodes and I like it.
The series touches upon something that up and until now have only been a backdrop story of the Federation /Klingon relationship. The Federation- Klingon war.
It is hard to describe without spoiling but the reasons for the Federation and Klingons going to war. It is very likely and not without merit in human history. There are dozens of example if this.
The Vulcans are showing new sides too in the episode "Vulcan hello".
The series for the first part is focusing on establishing the back drop for the rest of the series so don't expect to much "Star Trek Business" as usual". I think we can expect this to be a more darker version like DS9 but still with the hope that Star Trek was always about but a more realistic approach to it and that sometimes you come upon individuals whom for the better or worse can change history.
The Mist (2017)
Utterly disappointed.
This landed on Netflix(Europe) today and I have watched the first 3 episodes. Everything about this is so poor that I can't see a season 2 coming.
After a promising start the series in the first episode descends into rape/sexism/racism issues. I feel like they are trying to establish another zombie movie of sorts because of it's cheap to make in regard to location shooting.
3 episodes and we still have not seen a monster. All we have seen are super-cockroaches and lightning-metamorphic moths that have nothing in common with the 2007 movie where there where real monsters.
The people in the mall despite only a few having seen the women missing a jaw and getting snatched by something just accept that there is something in the mist. In the movie nearly everyone saw the women getting snatched. Also for a mall, there is very few people in there.
The Two "gamers" being depicted as weirdos makes you wonder if the writers are 60+ of age. Because they have no problem fishing two dead people out of freezer and pushing them outside to see if any monsters come for launch.
The mist requries a RE-DO or to be shown to people before release, because e this was utterly BS.
