Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

A sci fi com blast of a movie

I went in to this movie not knowing a lot about it which is unusual for me as i'm usually well read on plot lines before i go to the cinema.However this didn't make one iota to the experience as it was fun,fun,fun.I wouldn't go as far as saying this was a popcorn movie,i believe it had more sustenance than that.Marvel made a grand job of putting this film together considering these are unknown characters to the general public unless your'e a hardcore marvel comic reader of course.All of the characters have their own agenda but unify to one directive,that would be saving the galaxy hence the title of the movie(duh). I watched this film in 3D which was tremendous and added a little bit of extra pizazz to the already polished look of the movie.The special effects are second to none as you would expect from any marvel movie and the cameos of actors in this is refreshing.I for one thoroughly enjoyed this sci-fi comedy and would recommend this to any fan of this genre.You won't be disappointed.

Ender's Game (2013)

Science fiction semi blockbuster

I went into this movie with no preconceptions at all.The only thing i'd heard about this film was the title.I'm so glad i didn't read up on it first because i think this would have spoilt it for me.For the best part of the film its shot in space which credit where credits due is filmed fantastically what with the like of Gravity not long coming out and stealing all the limelight for its display of life in space and hands down it certainly deserves its merits.With that aside Enders Game is a marvel in itself.Great direction and production in this leaves you happy that you took the time out to watch this.A good cast of young actors who lead the movie very well and you can easily bond with these characters they portray.Iv'e given this movie only a 7 because with all its positive ingredients and an interesting plot line it still lacks something that i can't put my finger on.With that aside its still a must see for any science fiction fan.

Ghostbusters (1984)

A Supernatural Extravaganza

Being only ten years old when this movie premiered at the theatres i was in awe of such a film,its content and what it promised to give.After seeing it with my friends after pleading with my folks to go,i was not disappointed in any way shape or form.A prolific cast with the likes of Murray who then to me was just an actor i'd never heard of but soon became one of my favourite actors growing up.A fantastic plot,filled with originality and heaps of comedy this was one film that would be an instant hit,with special effects at the time that were cutting edge, made the visions of both the writers and director come to life.Its a movie that brings 3 students together for a ride of their lives.This film will remain in my top 5 films of all time.It shaped my childhood and it will always have a special place in my heart.R.I.P Harold Ramis who sadly passed away this year 2014.

Apollo 18 (2011)

Waste of time and money

This has to be one of the worst science fiction movies i have ever seen!It has a plot line that is thinner than an old age pensioners skin,you can literally see every cliché coming at you from a mile away and then swallowed down by some disappointing not so special effects. You will wish you had spent the time learning something new or feeding the cat.Its terrible.I hope they didn't pay the unknown actors a lot of money because they certainly didn't earn it.The acting is rather dull and the characters are one dimensional.You feel nothing towards them and you simply don't care if they live or die.The directing is none existent and the production is the same.In conclusion this movie should be left in the blackness of space never to reach any human hand ever again!
