Read the books (all of them) first!
28 June 2014
The most important flaw in this movie is that it gives away a major spoiler for those reading the books. Something's said that in the books you don't know until the third or fourth book, so that was a major let down for me. I don't know if they did it because they didn't intend to make sequel movies. But it's really annoying if you haven't read the whole series yet and they give things like this away. This to me was such a disappointment I would almost forget I enjoyed watching the movie pretty much. Because besides that, the movie isn't awful, they follow the line of the book pretty good. Acting could have been better but was okay. So, if you're into this kind of movies, it's quite entertaining . But if you prefer to also read the books: read them first. The whole series, or you'll be just as disappointed as I was.

No, just no.

This is one of the worst based on a book movies ever made. If you read the books, you will be disappointed to the point of crying. The script is very poor. Of course you can't put everything from the books in a movie, but this was just bad. The cast also was a big disappointment, the actresses didn't match the characters at all, it's a big question to me why they were chosen to play them. Rose, my favorite character in the books, is completely ruined by this girl (Zoë Deutch or something I thought) that doesn't have any of Rose's style and sass. Her acting was also very poor. No, I cannot recommend this movie to anyone. Just read the books instead.

Animal (I) (2014)

Liked it a lot

Warning: Spoilers
To my surprise I liked this movie a lot more than expected, and a lot more than many higher budget horror movies I recently saw. Animal has a good pace, it never gets dull and is full of action. The effects are good and there was a good balance of creepy you-can't-see-but-you-know-there's- danger and full-on-monster-creepy. The animal it self is also done well, it looks kind of scary but has in the end also an almost cute thing in it as its mate dies.

The finale is really good, loved how the pretty girl who was the most scared of the bunch in the beginning turned out the only one capable of fighting of the animal. That were some good and intense scenes and very well acted by the girl who played Mandy.
