Abigail (2024)

The Best Horror In Years
7 May 2024
It's a long time since I've enjoyed a Horror as much as this one.

Abigail reminds me a lot of From Dusk Till Dawn.

It's very much a two part story .

It's starts off a kidnapping and ends up as something else entirely.

Melissa Barrera Steals the screen from the moment the movie starts and is only matched by Alisha Weir's Amazing performance as Abigail.

The entire case put in an really good performance with only Angus Cloud being annoying and out of place .

The movie has a great beginning , middle and end and I found myself totally engaged for the entire movie .

It really is the best horror I've since perhaps since the aforementioned From Dusk Till Dawn.

I'm not saying it's as good but it's certainly up there .

Well done to all involved.

I loved this one .

Not sure why all the hate !
16 March 2024
I've no idea why people are giving this movie such a hard time .

I've seen a lot worse getting higher scores.

Ok it's never going to win awards and wasn't made to win awards .

It was made to entertain and this is exactly what it does .

The story is good, the acting is good and the action is great.

Dakota Johnson plays the lead just right .

She's likeable and believable.

Tahar Rahim is the baddie and is decent .

Sydney Sweeney ,Isabella Merced and Celeste O'Connor all put in good performances .

We even get a bit or Emma Roberts and Adam Scott among others .

I suspect this one will do well on the streaming platforms .

It was a good movie and doesn't deserve all the hate .

Why the bad reviews ?
10 March 2024
I wasn't expecting to enjoy this as I was sure it was made for kids.

I was very wrong .

This is a really good action movie and Millie does a really good job as the lead character .

It's beautifully shot and the wide shots of the landscape are breathtaking.

The effects are very good and the Dragon is really well Animated.

The movie is really quickly paced and there are no dull moments trough out the storyline .

Robin Wright does a convincing job as the evil Queen and Ray Winston is not bad as the father .

This is really worth a watch and you will enjoy it.

It will defiantly have a sequel and I hope they do just as good a job on that .

This worked for me
2 March 2024
This was not at all what I was expecting.

It's essentially a love story in the setting of a a space craft.

Sandler does a good job in a straight role.

I'm used to seeing him in-comedy roles

Carey Mulligan dips in and out as his Wife who has lost all faith in him.

The real star of the movie tough is Hanus played by Paul Dano.

At first I didn't think the character would work but by the end of the movie we fall in love him Hanus.

There are parts of the movie that I wish they hadn't included but it all works .

They could have set the story in any setting but the space craft was a nice touch .

The ending was a let down for me but they made their point .

Finally A Show Worth Watching
28 February 2024
This is the best show I've seen in a long time.

The first two episodes are excellent and I'm really hoping the rest of the episodes are as good as this .

I was too young to watch the original series but it always looked very appealing to me .

I'm so glad they made this one .

There are some super performances in the show but the stand outs to me are Hiroyuki Sanada as Lord Yoshi and Anna Sawai as Lady Mariko.

Lady Mariko is clearly going to be an important character going forward in the story .

Néstor Carbonell Is also a strong performer as Vaso Rodrigues and I had to look up to see who he was as his appearance is so different.

I'm really looking forward to the next instalment.

I went into this movie knowing nothing about the story and that's the way I would like to watch movies in the future .

When it started I thought we were In for a long drawn out non action drama but I couldn't have been more wrong .

Just as I thought it was going nowhere it all changed .

This is a good old fashioned action packed movie.

Daisy Ridley does a super job and Ben Mendelsohn as her father is perfect .

Brooklynn Prince Is superb as the young Helena .

Your not going to get expensive effects and explosions and fast car chases .

This as I said is an old fashioned thriller .

You will be entertained and glad you watched this one.

Ignore the bad reviews . I suspect most of them didn't watch the whole movie .

Not Great
20 December 2023
It's hard not to compare this to the original but when I do it falls flat .

I don't think Jennifer Laurence will be crying with jealousy .

First off the singing .

What was that all about ?

It was totally unnecessary and very annoying .

Speaking of annoying Rachael Zegler is very unlikable in this role .

The singing and prancing around at the start of the film put me off.

The story is very much all over the place and we're never sure what we are supposed to concentrating on.

If you watch to see a hunger games movie you will be very disappointed.

The ending makes no sense at all.

I was very confused.

The Snow character totally changes his personality for the final act .

I was really looking forward to this movie and I was totally let down .

I won't be rushing to watch the follow up .

It could have been a masterpiece but what we got was a mess.

I see people giving it a 10 or 9 on here which also worries me .

There was a time when IMBD was the Bible of reviews .

Great Actors No Script
10 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This started off really well and then went astray.

The acting is excellent and the characters are likeable and have good chemistry but the scrip was a mess.

All we were missing was an alien invasion in the middle.

That would have been more plausible than what we were given.

A full on gangster storyline which had nothing to do with the plot and one of the main characters suddenly losing her mind and acting totally out of character.

We even get a shoot out at the end .

If they had of just stayed with the main story line we would have got a really interesting show which explores the underbelly of swinging .

But we got none of that .

Instead the script writers decided to throw the kitchen sink at it and we got the mess that played out .

The only thing that kept me watching was the acting which was really good.

I'm sure they must have read the script and thought WTF !

Even the peeping Tom uploading the sex tape made no sense.

Why would he ?

He could have continued breaking in the house for new material .

And he knew the stair lift was coming .

Surely he would have thought about hiding his indiscretions weeks before it was installed ?

Watch it for the acting but don't expect much !

Some of us actually remember what happened !
12 November 2023
This started off well but it became very obvious that Robbie was rewriting history.

First off he got really fat around the time that he released Freedom (George Michael's song).

This wasn't shown .

We were shown him slightly heavier but not the fat guy that he became.

I'm guessing his ego wouldn't allow that to go into the documentary.

The whole Guy Chambers thing wasn't true either.

Guy wanted to write for other artists and Robbie wouldn't have that so got rid of him.

His career fell apart after that .

He begged Guy to work with him again and he did but that didn't make it into the documentary.

Rude Box was only one example of how Robbie couldn't write a song .

Remember Radio which was supposed to be an insult to Guy Chambers.

I'm sure Guy had a good laugh at that .

He blamed the English Press for the failure of Rude Box's success .

The song failed as it was an ego fuelled mess.

He played down the whole Take That reunion making out that he could have made more money on his own tour .

The truth is Robbie was finished and the Take That reunion brought him back into the limelight .

Again his ego wouldn't allow him to say that .

Robbie is full of it and is still as egotistical as he ever was.

He had some great songs with Guy Chambers and his ego messed it up.

I'd have really respected him if he just said that .

I'm giving this a 10 to make up for all the low ratings
28 October 2023
This Move is a solid 8 if not a 9.

The acting is solid.

The story is solid.

I was thoroughly entertained throughout the movie.

Emily Blunt is adorable as The Rookie drug rep.

Chris Evans plays a blinder as the dodgy Drug Executive.

The fact that this is a true story is really frightening.

It's even more frightening when you realise that Fentanyl is still available and widely used as is oxycontin.

I never cease to be amazed at the tolerance The World has for The pharmaceutical Industry.

This move shows just how little regard they have for the rest of us.

I would highly recommend this Movie for all all and I've no idea why there is much hate being thrown at it .

Maybe the hate is being sponsored by someone??????

Loved It
1 October 2023
I almost didn't watch this because of the reviews but I'm glad I did.

This is a totally different look at the romantic comedy genre .

Eve Hewson is incredible as Flora the mother with a big heart and lots of raw talent.

Jospeh Gordon Levitt is a revelation as The love interest showing us a side of him that we never knew existed.

The whole movie is very light hearted and doesn't take itself seriously but is a joy to watch .

This movie has feel good is spades.

I loved the characters , the story and the music.

No doubt Ms Hewson will go on to much bigger things after this and it's hard not to cheer her on.

She has never used her family connections to forward her career which is admirable .

There are some good performances from The supporting cast but the the two leads steal the show.

Having read some of the reviews on here I almost gave this one a miss.

Im glad I didn't .

This was a cracking little movie.

Great performances by everyone .

The story was interesting , the acting was too notch and I was entertained from start to finish .

I knew nothing about these toys and I was blown away by their story.

Elizabeth Banks never fails to deliver so I was expecting greatness from her but Sarah Snook, Geraldine Viswanathan and Zach Galifianakis also kill it.

You are really brought on a journey and feel all the highs and lows that the actual people must have gone through .

Give this one a go.

It doesn't disappoint.

This is the best I've ever seen of Ray Romano.

After I watched it I found out that he wrote and directed this movie and I was blown away.

We need Ray to write and direct more.

It was that good.

The characters were real, the acting was real and the pain was real.

It reminded me of how movies used to be made before the studios started to worry about being woke.

The relation between Ray and his wife (Laurie Metcalfe) seems on the surface to be tired and old but as the story unfolds we get to know that it's actually a much deeper relationship.

Their son (Jacob Ward) plays his role perfectly and we follow his coming of his age with heartbreak and joy. Sadie Stanley does a stellar job as his love interest.

I don't want to spoil it by going into detail but I guarantee you will love this movie .

Well done to all involved in this fabulous film.

I loved it.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this one.

At the start when I heard all the English Accents I was worried but I shouldn't have been.

Better that the actors use their own accents than try to pull off German accents .

Bel Powley is outstanding as Miep and we learn to love her and her big heart .

Liev Shriber really impressed me as Otto Frank .

Joe Cole puts in a stellar performance as Miep's husband Jan.

It was a look at World War 2 in a way we hadn't seen before and it was really clever.

This one is well worth watching.

The characters have been really well thought out and the writing is superb.

It ended far too soon for me .

Started Well and Ended Well
24 April 2023
At the beginning I thought this was going to be a romantic comedy and both Ana And Chris were perfect for their roles .

Then it fell off a cliff and became something else.

This is where it's gets lost.

It was just a mess.

There were many cameos from famous faces which just didn't work.

It didn't help that the scene with the cameos was like it was written by a child .

After the middle mess it became interesting again .

This could have been such a great movie but once again we see the producer's trying to be clever and take us on an unwanted journey of mess and bewilderment .

It would have worked really well as a romantic comedy and the chemistry between the leads was perfect.

It's such a shame to waste to such talent.

Very Real
12 April 2023
I've spent most of my life playing in bands with all sorts of people .

The reason I don't play anymore is because of people like Daisy Jones.

Most bands famous or not break up because of ego and the egotistical behaviour.

I found the egotistical parts hard to watch as it reminded so much of working with these type of people .

The show really captures what it's like to be I'm a band and the struggles ghat go on within a band that nobody ever sees.

The casting in this show is spot on and everyone plays their part to perfection .

I really loved Suki Waterhouse.

She played the role of the cool musician with a soft heart perfectly.

I've worked with so many Musicians like that .

They don't cause trouble , work hard and just want to enjoy being in the moment .

So if you want to get a feel for what it's like to be in a band on the road this is a must watch .

If you want to be just entertained with good acting and good music this Is a must watch .

If you want to just fill a few hours , this is a must watch.

I really hated the character or Daisy which is a credit to Riley Keogh.

Sam Clafin is excellent as the moody singer songwriter who suddenly has to share his empire.

Give it a watch. You won't be disappointed.

Ignore the bad reviews
26 March 2023
I watched the first episode out of boredom and binged the whole series.

This was different to anything I've ever seen .

At first the characters singing felt cringy but I came to love it.

Tahirah sharif Is for me the star of the show.

Her character changes so much as we get to know her.

There were characters that I really disliked but that's ok as we are supposed to dislike them.

The soundtrack is amazing for every episode and I loved the way they played the music video at the end of every episode.

They also picked songs that were not the typical eighties songs that you hear all the time .

Almost alternative .

I hope they make a second series as the story can really grow from where they left us.

The ending was also really clever .

I didn't see it coming .

Ignore The Bad Reviews
18 March 2023
I almost didn't watch this as the reviews were so bad but I'm glad I ignored them.

I haven't laughed so much at a movie in a long time .

This film wasn't trying to take itself too seriously and Elizabeth Banks really went for the laughs with this one.

There was some bad acting which is why I didn't give it a ten but I won't mention the actors as it wouldn't be fair.

The Bear scenes are done really well and you will laugh your ass off with its antics .

We even get to see Ray Liotta in what would have been one of his last ever performances.

You can tell that's he's not 100% healthy but as usual he does a great job.

He will be missed .

Keri Russell as usual is amazing.

Go and see this movie .

It's old school laugh out loud entertainment.

I really hope Ms Banks makes more like this .

Oh Dear
12 March 2023
For my Guy Ritchie has always been very much hit or miss.

This one is a miss.

One could even call it a mess.

Despite a stellar cast and a decent plot line this just didn't come together for me.

Some parts were very cringy.

I found myself wondering how this got past an editor.

It's a paint by numbers job by Richie who literally took the best parts of his past movies and tried to reproduce them in this .

It didn't work .

I found myself just wanting it to be over and I knew way before the end what was going to happen .

So another stinker from Guy Richie.

This usually means we'll get a decent movie from him next time around.

I don't think I could watch another one like this.

Should have been a great movie
18 February 2023
I can just imagine some producer pitching this movie to some Exec's explaining how good it was.

The Exec of course knows better and decides to to make it into a mini series .

So instead of getting a really good original movie we get a dragged out slow mini series .

There is far too much padding here including an episode that didn't need to be made.

For me it was ruined by the unnecessary padding.

It really would have been a stand out movie.

Emily Blunt ours in one of her best performances .

Chaske Spencer As her co star is excellent .

The chemistry between these two is off the charts.

You really want them to make it and make it together .

The script has some really clever twists but the dragging out of the story ruins these twists in my opinion.

Rafe Smalls character is over the top annoying .

Now we are supposed to hate him but maybe Rafe is too good of an actor as I really detested his character.

Tom Hughes is very good but again the dragging out of the story makes his character almost unnecessary.

So to be clear.

This one have been an incredible movie . 10/10.

But for me it fell flat as a mini series.

Too much padding.

Best Brit Cop I've seen
13 February 2023
I stumbled across this show on Disney.

I binged through 3 seasons .

It's the best British Police Drama I've seen on TV.

Elaine Cassidy is simply brilliant as the main character.

A police Detective who makes her way though life with all the hardships that go with that job.

Joanna Scanlon is the boss who's hard as nails but with a heart of Gold.

The other stands out for me are Saira Choudhry and Will Meller.

Both give outstanding Performances as the hard working cops.

I really loved this show and came wait for season 4.

I'm also a little bit in love With Elaine Cassidy.

I'm currently lining up everything she's been in to have a good binge .

I'm very late to the party here but I binged the two seasons of this show over a few nights .

It's absolutely amazing TV.

Everything about this show works.

It's sexy, it's a drama , it's funny, it can be scary but overall it's just a pleasure to watch.

Anna Paquin is just incredible as Robyn who is ultra cool and a train wreck at the same time .

Lydia Wilson plays Eve who is my favourite character in the show.

She's sexy, funny, cool and rude.

I just loved her.

Rebecca Benson plays Melody who is an innocent intern who is brought into the madness of PR.

And last but not least we get the icon that is Sophie Okonedo as Caroline the ruthless Boss who holds it all together.

I cannot recommend this enough and I can't wait for Season 3.

Way too long
17 December 2022
You could have but an hour out of this movie and it wouldn't have changed much to the storyline.

At one point I forgot I was watching a movie as it seemed more like A David Attenborough Documentary.

Yes it's Visually Stunning but after 20 minutes we need More than effects.

The story is very weak with lots of holes that they don't even try to explain to the audience .

I've no idea how they'll get another 3 movies from this franchise.

I won't be going to see anymore unless James Cameron Invents a new way of watching in Cinemas.

We get good action at the end but for me this falls flat.

They had 12 years to work on a cracking script but gave us this instead.

Nah !

I loved the first Film as it was new and fresh and unlike anything we'd ever seen before.

But now that we've seen that there's seems to be nothing left.

Pleasant Surprise
30 November 2022
I wasn't expecting much from this series and only watched the first episode because of all the fanfare but I was in for a surprise treat.

I'm an older person so this show is not pitched at me but I was hooked from the start.

Firstly it looks fantastic . Very sleepy hollow.

Jenna Ortega is a triumph.

Her portrayal of Wednesday Adams is a joy to watch.

I'd never seen her before and I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more from her.

The supporting cast is very clever .

From Catherine Zeta Jones as Morticia to Christina Ricca as Marilyn Thornton, everyone pulls together to make a really enjoyable watch .

There will be a season 2 without doubt and I'll be watching.

I Liked It
29 October 2022
Firstly let's remember this is a horror and not looking to win best picture at the award ceremonies.

It's started well, it moves along well and it ends well.

Ella Balinska does a great job as the lead.

She's gorgeous, sexy and tough.

She was excellent the Resident Evil Reboot. She's a super lead.

Pilou Asbaek is excellent as the baddie and your really routing for Ella to kick his arse.

I've seen lots of comments about plot holes.

Seriously?

Have you watched many horror movies .

This is one of the better modern horrors I've seen.

Ella Balinska is one to watch.

I've recently seen her in Charlie's Angels and Junction 9 and knew she was going to get better with every project .

Put this one on your Halloween watch list.

You won't regret it !
