Music Pictures: New Orleans (2022)
Absolutely Incredible! Very intimate look at Legendary New Orleans Musicians
One of the best music documentaries I've ever seen. I's a truly intimate look at the lives and history of four legendary performers, of whom Irma Thomas is probably the best known to main stream audiences, but all of whom are fascinating in their own right. The stories from Little Freddie King alone, one of the last surviving gut bucket Blues Musicians out there are worth it, I could listen to him talk and tell stories about his life all day long. The stuff with Ellis Marsalis well.. no spoilers her but RIP to a legend is all I'll say.
I've seen a lot of music documentaries, but what makes this one really stand out is the level of intimacy the filmmaker Ben Chace has with his subjects. The decision they made to record new music with each of the musicians as a through line for the documentary really paid off in spades.
I hope they do this in more cities, I'd love to see one about Chicago or Nashville or a ton of other places.
Katrina Babies (2022)
Such a great film!
I can barely express what an amazing film this is! This is documentary film making at it's purest, but also it's highest level. I was lucky enough to see this through Tribeca online, and I can't wait to see it again when it gets a wide release.
See this as soon as you can!
Burn (2022)
Great Action Movie
This is a great action movie, with just enough suspense and twists to keep you not sure what's coming next. Really nice camera work and cinematography.
Mrs. America (2020)
Amazing!
Incredible top to bottom. Stellar production design, great acting, and fantastic story telling. It really looks and feels like they went back in time to film this.
My Country No More (2018)
Amazing!
This is an incredible documentary film. Beautifully shot, very moving, and an important untold story that tells both sides of the issue.
