Black Mirror: Loch Henry (2023)
Not Black Mirror
Look, the show is called "Black Mirror" so I'm rating it accordingly. This was not a "Black Mirror" episode. This episode continues the trend of season 5, i.e. Making episodes that have nothing to do with the original themes of the series. Just why do they keep doing this? What's happening behind the scenes? I'd be very interested to know.
Taking the episode outside of the series, it was... decent, at best. Bad overall acting, the only good one is Hannah but he was completely wasted. There's something that should be a twist, but it just got a "Heh, whatever" reaction from me.
Anyway, I digress. This episode gets a one out of ten. It's garbage.
War of the Worlds (2019)
war to fight the boredom
Look, first episode was kind of interesting, but then it's nothing happens the series.
And it ends with a silly cliffhanger without explaining anything. Look forward to season 2! Not.
Arctic (2018)
Way longer than needed
Look, Mads's performance was great, but the movie drags on for too long and is way too repetitive. Also I can't believe how much I hated the woman. She just lied there doing literally nothing the entire time. Near the end she was dying, coughing blood, but magic! 30 minutes later she suddenly recovered.
And then you have the helicopter. It flew away, but magic! It suddenly decides to come back for whatever reason and save the strandeds.
It was overall a good movie, it deserves to be watched, but don't expect too much.
Alien Siege (2018)
Just no
What makes me mad is that somebody actually financed this. Money were put into making this......... thing.
Solis (2018)
Waste of time
Steven Ogg is the only good thing about this movie (he's also the only actor).
What I found most cringeworthy is that he has limited O2, yet he keeps talking and arguing about stupid things.
You have 90 minutes of him trying to survive, but the issue here is that there is no ending. You don't know if either he lives or not. This is insulting and makes the movie a complete waste of time.
IO (2019)
Usual netflix garbage
It's your usual Netflix scifi garbage: waste of budget on a nonsensical story that ends up nowhere, with the inevitable interracial love story shoved in that Netflix love to promote.
Seriously, how many scifi movies have Netflix produced so far? And not a single one of them is decent, when you think about it it's incredible.
Don't bother.
Extinction (2018)
Pathetic twist, abysmal execution
Those kids keep crying and crying and screaming and whining and screaming and crying and whining and whining and screaming and crying and crying and whining and screaming and crying FROM START TO FINISH.
After 2/3 of the movie it's finally revealed the twist and it makes things incredibly awkward. By then you're probably hating the main characters so much (mostly the kids if you haven't guessed) that you will root for the invaders.
Netflix manages to produce another garbage sci-fi movie in an endless stream of failures. Amazing.
Edit:
It's hilarious seeing other reviewers saying 1/10 scores are just wrong and hateful. Who the hell are you to state this? Do you hold the absolute truth in your judgement? No, so shut up.
Beyond Skyline (2017)
"An improvement over the first"? Are you joking?
"What the hell am I watching?!" is what I was thinking during the whole second part. But first things first. The first part was okay, it shows the alien invasion from another perspective, and we get to see extensively what happens inside the alien ship. But as soon as they introduced the baby, I knew it would go downhill. It ALWAYS HAPPENS, in every damn media. Babies/Kids are BAD. You know why? Because they're always special and you can't kill them for obvious moral reasons. All the dangers they're put through simply fall flat because you already know they won't die.
Anyway, when the movie gets to the second half, it gets dumber and dumber by the minute. We meet these 2 nobodies in the jungle, they never explain who the hell they are and what they are doing, but suddenly we discover they're part of a resistance (they already knew about the invasion???), the baby turns out being the key to save humanity (totally unexpected!), some scientist under drugs discovers in his rudimentary laboratory some kind of weapon to kill the aliens, and then plot holes, cliches, dumb stylish fights and shit because we cool Americans.
It's just bad. It's idiotic. It's far worse than the first movie. Don't waste your time.
