Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio (2022)
Ultimate example of stop motion!!!
This is extremely unbelievable well done, the motion, the dialogues, perfect songs, voice and sound. This is perfection. How can something not alive, looks so ... alive?
Everybody who loves stop motion animation should see this movie. It took 5 years to make it and had a duration of almost 2 hours. Also the making of and behind the scene movies are worthy to see. Although a lot of respect for the crew, it is also the fabulous contribution of Guillermo del Toro who is a real good storyteller.
At the beach, and if you know the main line of the original story this is not a spoiler, is very moving. Applause and salute, and many thanks for making this movie.
Hwan Hon (2022)
Wonderful play, scenery and love story
A Korean fairy tale. Characters and story are "fantastic". Especially episode 10 is well written. This is proof that romance is a universal concept. Humor is apparently different than in Europe (I am from the Netherlands) but if you respect the culture differences than you will enjoy this too. The setting, the outdoor scenes and the scenery in general are beautiful! I have to admit, I am waiting for the conclusion so I haven't seen part 11 til 20.
De beentjes van Sint-Hildegard (2020)
Joyful surprise !
One of the best Dutch movies of the past years. Spoken dialect is the finishing touch of a well written and well played story. Good choice of cast. I had a smile on my face for the entire movie. Literally and as a matter of speaking a breath of fresh air. This movie has merit ("heeft zin" in Dutch).
Ragnarok (2020)
Good storytelling
Spot on casting and beautiful scenery. Interesting story which is screaming for more. The style of filming is really refreshing. In case of a follow up, I hope they preserve this style of elegant and pure storytelling instead of trying to impress with excessive special effects and over the top action scenes. I even consider to book a holiday to Norway.
