surprisingly good

I wasn't over enthusiastic about watching this re reviews and film summary but pleasantly surprised..liked the family dynamics (very honest - also good film to show your daughter).. liked the contrast between "showy" people and country club staff. If I was Georgie would probably have ridden motorbike into a tree... although prob would just not have joined country club. But then have got drawn into peer groups in past myself. Some surprises along the way,...watched as trying to catch up on Vincent Donofrios' career and thought he played part of dispirited/bored/gentle middle aged man brilliantly... and loved the fight/drunk scenes and scenes with Georgia. budget let it down a little, but have learnt that lot to be said about independent/straight to DVD movies rather than mainstream cinema.

no discrepancies for me - presume in write up about the accident may have used photo and quoted what was written on reverse. Anyway such a lovely film shame to spoil it. Also by changing what happens to Ruby he is creating a new parallel universe.. presumably in one he may remain in continuity loop looking for her !! my main complaint is how easy they seem to pick up boyfriends... maybe it is like that in the States (I am referring to my 20 year self) Got my 18 year foster girl to watch with me and she enjoyed it too - so timeless (which is quite appropriate)... I think Rubys' character is great too and good role model for both of us. Thought Vincent was endearing and loved Ruby.. and loved scenes at the beach, at the art gallery and the dancing, and the fights - great comic timing.

Beautiful film

Again put off from watching re description. I don't tend to watch many biographical movies and certainly couldn't see appeal of watching one about author of Conan the Barbarian (British so not such a cult over here and also a woman so not much appeal!) . I think picked up few times in video store as Renee in it and by then had watched her in Bridget Jones.. but kept reading story line and popped it back.

Should have read "1930s Texas, a story of love between a writer of erotic, fantasy adventures, lost in his own world and a forward thinking school teacher torn between conventionality and love." Having googled a little about Robert Howard, think they portrayed his relationship with his mother compassionately and accurately.

One of best romantic films I have ever watched ...just think they cut a few scenes that were needed and maybe needed to edit some of longer drawn out parts of movie.
