Elvis (2022)
Amazing
I felt like I was watching and listening to Elvis. Austin did freaking amazing. I was screaming and laughing the same as the girls watching him in the movie. The film is full of energy and hits the emotional notes too. Ive been waiting for a biopic about Elvis forever. It was perfect.
Shame (2011)
Could've been better
I was hoping for dark and tragic. It was just skimming the surface the whole time. I also felt the plot would've benefited without the sister. She was so weird and intrusive.
The Batman (2022)
Incredle disappointment
I was really hyped for this film but halfway in and I wanted to leave. Its boring. There is no character development for one single character. They may have established
these characters in the comics or DC but I didn't care or wasn't made to care about any in this film. The acting is okay except Zoe Im pretty sure she was cast for one reason. I thought this would be dark but batman didn't seem much different from others. And the Riddler was laughably non-threatening. The only redeeming thing was the music. It was awesome.
Zone 414 (2021)
Awesome
Loved it. Sci-fi noir and Guy Pearce that's all I needed. These are the kind of scifi movies I love, gritty, dark, but with heart. There was only one part mentioned that some people like their androids "not pretty" without skin. I wanted to see that...but didn't get to. Still great film.
Paradise Hills (2019)
Garbage
I read the plot and thought sounds awesome. The main character couldnt care less about those around her or maybe it was her acting who knows. There was too much focus on the forced romantic plot than the main plot of the film. What a friggin let down. Only good thing was costumes.
Intersect (2020)
Good time travel movie
I definitely thought there'd be more gore but the story was interesting and interestingly told that I kept watching. The first few scenes are a bit cringe and the acting isnt great but one you get into the plot you want to know what is going on and how it ends. I liked it.
Cabin Fever (2002)
Great fun horror
This movie was so great and traumatizing when I saw it in high school. It's still so fun to watch and has such great horror moments. I cannot shave my legs without thinking of this movie. I hate jumpscares but they get me everytime in this movie and I love it.
Chaos Walking (2021)
So fun!
This movie is so great! Of course its looked over because its different and not rated R. Everyone is so good and I laughed out loud so many times. Tom is so funny. Its exciting, interesting, and I definitely want to own it. Great scifi.
Kadaver (2020)
Begone monsters begone!
I read reviews before I watched it and everyone said it was predictable???!?! How??? You look at reviews of run of the mill haunted house or posession movies and people go crazy but this was actually unique and its predictable? It wasnt. And even if you see just that one part coming..its not the point of the movie. I really liked it. Kept me interested, loved the acting and the imagery. Also the ending was a bit empowering. My kind of horror. Not normie horror, very satisfying watch.
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Messy Garbage
After the wonder that is the first wonder woman I cant believe this incoherent mess is the sequel. There is no main plot..it keeps getting more complex and it's not interesting in the least. The characters are goofy and over dramatic..very unlikable. The action was so horribly done..the cgi was laughable. Diana was hardly ever in her suit and you hear her score like maybe twice for a few seconds. I'm glad I did not pay to see this in the theater. I will try to erase this piece of trash pretending to be a film from my memory.
Words on Bathroom Walls (2020)
Moving!!
The trailer convinced me to watch it but oh my gosh the way they portrayed the illness and the acting of this kid!! Ughh I was bawling my eyes out. I'd seen the mom and the girl from Lost in Space they are great. I didnt know itd get so deep..really opens your eyes to the struggle of people who suffer with these things. But great movie!! Loved it
The Great (2020)
....
Why do they always have British accents....every friggin show
Mowgli (2018)
Freaking beautiful!
I was curious about this film. Always hated the jungle book. Was not interested in the "live action" disney adaptation, but when I heard Serkis was doing a take on the story I thought okay cool. This film just sucks you in as soon as the animals start to speak. The story is amazing. The facial expressions convey so much depth. I was weeping so many times. It gets dark and you care so much for all the characters. The actor who plays Mowgli rips your heart at certain points. Andy Serkis made me love this story. His story. Beautiful told. 10/10
Ophelia (2018)
Surprising
I knew it wasnt going to be great but I've saw Mackay in another film and wanted to try this one out to see him. He was great. Watts was the best part of course. Daisy wasnt bad she surprised me in parts. Shes definitely not a great actor but shes not insufferable. I loved the different take. I'm mean we do that with Shakespeare all the time?? Hamlet is my all time favorite Shakespeare play and I liked this film. It was definitely better than I thought it would be.
A Christmas Carol (2019)
Loved it!
Turns Scrooge into a real person. Hes known trauma and abuse and like a some victims of abuse becomes a sort of abuser himself. You feel sorry for him you feel anger towards him it's great. I also loved Mary. Dont know what magic she was into but I was into whatever it was. She was very compelling. Also Andy Serkis I mean come on...amazing. I wanted a darker take on the classic tale and I got it so A+
The War of the Worlds (2019)
Really loving it
I dont get all the very negative reviews on here. Guess they're book purists. I'm loving the show. Good acting, great effects, and the story is keeping me interested. If you're a scifi lover like me you'll love it
Midsommar (2019)
Didnt Deliver
The trailer promised a much meatier movie. There was no character development..some characters who were more interesting than the leads were pretty much just used for shocking imagery. That's basically what this film is. A pretty village with people doing nothing and odd scenes cut in between. No story, no depth, no pay off. It just tried to be weird just to be weird.
Into the Dark: All That We Destroy (2019)
Loved it.
I really hate this "black mirror for idiots" thing people are saying on here. It has a black mirror vibe but more of an early on black mirror. Definitely not the fourth season...that crap was garbage. Anyways this film is interesting from start to finish and I loved the ending. Very satisfying. Dark, odd, and scifi all things I love.
Life After Beth (2014)
Loved it
I have no idea how the ratings aren't higher. Dane DeHaan is amazing as always. The comedy is dry and quirky. It definitely fits the dark comedy genre. A ridiculous, sweet, and surprising zombie movie.
This Means War (2012)
This movie was a great surprise!
I really enjoyed this movie. I love all three actors. Plus Chelsea Handler is hilarious. I don't really watch many romantic comedies anymore but this one didn't feel traditional romantic comedy. It wasn't sappy or cheesy. It kept me entertained. The interaction between Chris Pine's and Tom Hardy's characters was so fun to watch. They had me bursting out laughing and that doesn't happen often with comedies. The love story doesn't play too much of a roll in the movie. It's mostly about the two men competing for her. It may be a bit predictable but still it was a fun movie. It made me smile and made me laugh. What else could you want from a comedy?
