What is going on??

I watched the LOTR and Hobbit movies years ago. Now this show comes out and I feel like I'm supposed to understand things without explanation. I don't understand any of the references or plot points. I don't know all the species of creatures, or the lore behind significant objects. I don't understand why humans hate the elves, or what the broken sword the kid found is. I'm confused as why the sky opened up and the light swallowed the ship. This show is definitely for those who watched the movies multiple times and read all the books. As a casual viewer who has only seen the movies once upon a time and never read the novels I'm lost and am struggling to enjoy this show.

Bioware really fumbled their story telling abilities with this one.

The first game was amazing! Diverse and unique locations, full customization of your entire squad, extensive dungeons with creative designs and enemies, companions with complex personalities and real weight in the story, and TONS of loot!

Bioware decided to scrap all of that in this game. I guess they made the graphics better. Thanks? Every location is the same as the last. Literally. All the caves are EXACTLY the same from design to layout to enemy locations.

Your companions have much more restrictions on their customization and abilities. You can't even change their armor appearance! AND THEY MADE DOG A DLC!!!!

Loot is much more scarce and honestly not very interesting. 90% of the loot is literally trash (as in it has a dumpster icon because it has no use) The story is so chaotic that you don't know what is going on most of the time. You just go to where the big yellow arrow points to kill enemies in a dungeon that looks the same as the last dungeon you were in.

I started this game directly after finishing Origins and I feel like I just took a huge step back. DA2 is not nearly as fun to play.

Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)

Disappointed

Disney knew the Obi-Wan that everyone loved. They just decided not to put him in this show. We get a force denying, PTSD suffering, not-a-jedi-anymore shell of what used to be Obi-Wan Kenobi. There's no smart banter or force wisdom given from Space Jesus. Just some ex-jedi played by the same guy that gave us Obi-Wan.

There are also some serious plot issues with this show. How in a galaxy far far away does an extremely annoying, rookie inquisitor know that Darth Vader is Anakin Skywalker?? It is cannon that the Emperor and Vader hunted down almost everyone who knew that secret. They definitely would not have let one become an inquisitor.

The series is halfway through and Obi-Wan has a long way to go before he's there zen force-fluent teacher we love from the og trilogy. I hope these next few episodes fix these issues so I can change this review. Until then I'm really disappointed with the show.

Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

Childhood dream come true

It doesn't matter which version of Spiderman you like the best. Any fan of the hero felt their heart fill with joy watching this masterpiece.

As a person who's childhood was filled with comic books and action figures this was an absolute dream come true. My first Spiderman, the funniest Spiderman, and the Avengers Spiderman all in 1 movie?! Thank you Santa.

Shadow in the Cloud (2020)

WAY TOO OVER THE TOP

Another movie about all men being bad and women are all badass heroes. The great cinematography was overshadowed by the ridiculous and cheesy plot. No suspension of belief as stunts are all obviously physically impossible (getting blown back into a moving plane by another exploding plane??). Next time I want you to remember that there is a baby in the package the whole time, watch everything that happens to the package and tell me how the baby survives. Please help me out with this one. This movie was just too over the top to enjoy.

Battlefield 2042 (2021 Video Game)

Terrible

Bad graphics make everything look plastic. Sound design is bad. Maps are uninteresting. Movement is slow with no way to adjust sensitivity. Feels unfinished. I have no idea how this was approved for release.

Eternals (2021)

BORING

How is this a Marvel movie?! They should know how to crank out greatness by now. This movie is so dull. Over an hour of set up with very little character depth. Too much telling and not enough showing. Wait for it to come out on Disney+. Not worth the theater ticket.

Cool Story, Bad Gameplay

The story is cool and set in an interesting era. The gameplay however is very stagnant with very little change. Its a stealth game. 90% of the game play consists of you hiding in bushes from guards or walking corridors with torches to avoid rats. Combat isn't very fun as you only get 1 weapon all game, and many of the enemies in the game are wearing armor, so your sling is useless against them anyways.

The Outpost (2019)

Wow

I see a lot of reviews here pointing out the flaws in the battle or their issues with the plot. I think they forget how accurate this movie is to the actual events. Some of the actors in this movie were playing themselves! They were actually there. This movie was made to honor and educate. Not to fulfill some action flick itch that the viewer has. This movie should be watched with respect.

Battlefield V (2018 Video Game)

Uneven Battles

In 90% of the maps and game modes there is a clear superior side, if you're not on it you will lose. No matter how hard you try. Spawn deaths are frequent and weapons are poorly balanced. Battlefield's battle royale won't even load matches most the time. You sit in the home menu waiting for a match that never starts. These are all things that could be fixed by EA, but they're too cheap to put in the effort.

The entire episode was focused on a single event and as an audience member I was entirely breathless the whole way. The raw emotion this episode brings out is truly like no other. Fantastic job

This is a fantastic Father and Son bonding story that brings very real cultural pride with it. The locations that scenes were shot truly capture the culture of the areas. This is a fantastic story that I will definitely be rewatching. This movie makes you smile

This game is boring and crashes every 30 minutes! There is no linear plot and each mission seems like a repeat of the last. You waste hours in traveling and loading screens and customization is terrible with few options. Whether you're riding your horse through a pasture or knees deep in a boss fight, the map will give out from under you and you will glitch until you exit and reload. I have been playing this game for 5 hours and have already had to backtrack and reload 4 times. You will hear rain when there isn't a cloud in the sky. Mission objectives will be inaccessible, forcing you to reload the game. NOT WORTH THE $60 THAT IT COSTS

October Sky (1999)

A MUST SEE

This is a perfect family movie. Telling the truly inspiring story of a man who embodied the idea that nothing is impossible. I saw this movie in theaters as a kid with my father and it left my jaw on the floor. I recently rewatched this with my own child and she told me that she now wants to be an astronaut. This true story should continue to inspire generations. Just as it inspired me and now my own child. If you have not seen this movie I can not praise and recommend it enough. Enjoy!

GreedFall (2019 Video Game)

Intriguing, but SLOW

This game as a truly original plot that is fun to explore. Unfortunately the gameplay is tedious at best and completely destroys all story tension.

My example is a mission where natives want to plant new trees in an area of the forest that has been cleared. You will travel back and forth from the clearing to the capital in search of ownership deeds no less than 4 times.

90% of this game is spent traveling from one location to another. The combat system is good, but unless you have your difficulty settings turned up the fights usually only last around 15 seconds with no real challenge to them. I played the entire game without my health ever dropping below 50%.

This is an extraordinarily original plot. But gameplay lacks intensity to carry the weight of the story.

The Lion King (2019)

BEAUTIFUL

Graphics are absolutely jaw dropping. I was a little kid when I first watched the original Lion King. This movie made me feel like a kid again and I loved absolutely every second of it. Nostalgia so great it caused goosebumps and tears.

The Real Captain America

This man's story is nothing short of awe inspiring. More people need to hear it. Worthy of a cinematic full length feature. This is the story of the guy who "couldn't cut it" performing one of the greatest displays of bravery and perseverance in military history.

Star Wars: Squadrons (2020 Video Game)

Gets old very quickly

The graphics and customization in this game is something that other developers should look at as a good standard. However for a Star Wars Story, the story mode holds little engagement. Each mission is the same as the last. Fight enemy fighters, blow something up, rinse and repeat. There are no moments that keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what happens next. MULTIPLAYER needs work. Fleet Battles are entertaining but get old quickly if you play multiple matches in a row. Dogfighting is not enjoyable whatsoever, the Republic always wins, their fighters have shields, the Empire's do not. I believe this game was a huge missed opportunity. There was so much that could have been incorporated into this game that simply went unused.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019 Video Game)

Too many problems to enjoy

Game is supposedly cross-platform. Platforms do not operate similarly giving certain platforms immense advantages. Bullet registry will favor the player with the higher fps. If you don't play with Sensitivity all the way up then just quit now, because you can't compete with the reflex speeds of those who do. This game also features repetitive spawn kills and frequent lags. Not to mention that the game is now around 270GB.

A Dog's Purpose (2017)

Incredible!

This movie tells a truly wholesome story. It makes you wonder about the mentality and emotions of your fur friends. A complete masterpiece and a film that has definitely not received the proper praise that it deserves.

This is how you make an action movie. The plot is not difficult to follow. The action scenes are beautiful. The score is fun and really engages you in the film. This is cinematography at its finest.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (2019 Video Game)

Well Done

This is the kind of Star Wars game I've been waiting for. I'll give my complaints first and then I'll vent about how great this game is. My complaints: The combat in this game is choppy. One moment its smooth and beautiful. The next you get knocked down and pummeled by enemy attacks before you can get back up and defend yourself. Some of the puzzles in the game are unnecessary and waste too much time. It bogs the story down and takes away from the gravity of the game. MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT: This game needs more story. After playing through the game, I realized I wasn't ready for it to end. The story seemed very short. The shell of the story is wonderful. But, there's very little character development and relationship building between you and your allies. There are NO side quests, other than simply hunting for more loot. There is so much potential for these characters, but we are given no opportunity to explore it.

I really enjoyed this game. I am a huge fan of customization in games, and this game delivers on that wonderfully. The story is great with some fantastic plot twists that you'll never see coming. I have been waiting for a game like this since Force Unleashed 1. I NEED MORE!

Mass Effect: Andromeda (2017 Video Game)

Underrated

This game is FANTASTIC. This is a perfect stand-alone game in the Mass Effect universe. The story is great and keeps you wanting to continue to find out what happens next. By far one of my favorite games. Plus who doesn't love complete and full customization.
