Army of the Dead (2021)
Dead Dead Dead?
Bloody loved this film, all the negative reviews must be from people who didn't really consider what they were watching, it's a zombie heist movie set in Las Vegas with a team lead by Dave Bautista directed by Zack Synder. Looks great, gore fest with big guns of both types! Oscar winner? NO! Saturday night beer movie? YES! And if that's what you want you should watch it!
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
DISAPPOINTING!!!
Let me start by saying I have been a Star Wars fan all my life, I was born in 1977 and grew up with the original trilogy.
When the prequels came along I was very excited and left numb, so much so I have only ever watched them once in the cinema.
Then the new films began, I enjoyed The Force Awakens, Rogue One was awesome, The Last Jedi was hit (Crait) and miss (Canto Bight) and I think Solo was good too, it's hard to create a back story for and established character that's new and original. So I went into The Rise of Skywalker with high hopes especially with the return of JJ Abrams and left feeling short changed and majorly disappointed, this film is a complete waste of potential. The scenes with Princess Leia were painful, the return of the Emperor was just silly and strange and the story seemed to bounce around and have no feeling, was VERY predictable and at times just stupid! I never thought I'd say this but I'm actually glad it's all over. Having said all this I think every Star Wars fan should watch this film but don't expect to be wowed!!! On a plus note I enjoyed my popcorn and Pepsi Max! 😃 To be honest though we took our 4 year old daughter to watch Frozen 2 and I actually enjoyed it more than this film.
The Mummy (2017)
Monster-rific
Let's all hate on a monster movie because it doesn't tell a powerful story, it isn't artistically shot, it's just a group of set pieces......
Don't hate on any of these things and you'll enjoy this movie for what it is, A MONSTER MOVIE! It's an action packed ride with cool fights mindless killing and humour. A throwback to when a B movie was just a B movie, not a cinematic failure. In the 20th century this would of been a straight to video classic.
Polar (2019)
John Wick-ish
Really enjoyed this movie, good story and stylishly directed! Will it win an Oscar, no! But who cares, can you watch it and enjoy it, I know I did!!!
Wind River (2017)
I'm a hunter
What a powerful, hard hitting and beautifuly crafted piece of cinema! Pigeon holed into a genre where it far surpasses its contemporaries! Skillfully filmed, superbly acted and extremely well written.
I can not recommend this film enough! So much better than the mainstream generic movies that Hollywood gives us these days, no super heroes or guaranteed sequels 'just' an original and powerful story.
Peppa Pig: My First Cinema Experience (2017)
My 2 year old loved it!
First things first, let's consider the target audience for this cinema experience, CHILDREN! So for all the negative reviewers complaining about this film just remember it's aimed at CHILDREN.
This film did exactly what it was meant to do, it gave my daughter her first cinema experience, a massive screen, popcorn, pick n mix and everything else you get at the cinema.
I would highly recommend it for all families who have children who like Peppa Pig, my daughter didn't want to stand up until the last 5mins and then it was just to dance!
