The Alamo (2004)
Does History Repeat Herself? Or do various cultures adapt the same stories and make them their own?
The Admiral - Roaring Currents (2014 film) about 12 ships against 330 ships (from Korean/Japanese history of 1597) is the same odds ratio basically as 180 men against 5000 men in, The Alamo (2004 film) from Mexican and Texas U.S. history.
There is nothing new under the sun according to the Bible author of the Book of Ecclesiastes.
In both films you have the head military leader coughing up blood into a napkin. The Admiral does so (The Admiral), and Colonel Bowie does so (The Alamo).
The Alamo writers use 180 Texan troops fighting against 5000 Mexican troops. Whereas, The Admiral writers use 12 Korean ships against 330 Japanese ships. That is almost exactly the same odds ratio. EXAMPLE: 12 ships times 10 = 120 ships. 330 ships times 10 = 3300 ships. add half as many more and you get 180 ships against 4950 ships (sounds like 180 men against 5000 men).
Either history repeats herself around the world or else these writers are deceiving us into thinking their plots are original?
Consider the Israelite story of Moses, King Saul, and King David. Then consider the Roman/Greek story of the Emperor Nero. Nero's life was very similar to the combined lives of Moses/Saul/David.
Davy Crockett's life can be compared to Jesus Christ in great detail. Davy was even purported to have risen from the dead and appeared to many in Mexico City after the fall of the Alamo (and his death). Davy bled the 5000 whereas Jesus fed the 5000. And so on.
And COL Jim Bowie, COL Davy Crockett, and LT COL William Travis are considered the Holy Trinity of the Alamo.
Perhaps the Admiral is Father, Son, and Holy Ghost all rolled up into one? Or should I add Moses too, making 4? We have to add in General Sam Houston into the mix to make a victory for the Texans. So perhaps the Admiral is: Moses, God, Jesus, Holy Spirit all rolled up into one, or Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie, William Travis, and Sam Houston all rolled up into one?
Myeong-ryang (2014)
Does History Repeat Herself? Or do various cultures adapt the same stories and tell them differently?
This great and exciting film (The Admiral - Roaring Currents, 2014) appears to be a spin off of, The Alamo (2004 film), about a United States, State of Texas, True battle against the Mexicans. You will notice many similarities between THE ALAMO and THE ADMIRAL.
The Alamo film (2004) came first, but the writers of THE ADMIRAL film (2014) make us believe they were the originators of the plot by setting their film in 1597, whereas The Alamo is set in 1836.

Also, the ratio of odds is exactly the same. The Alamo writers use 180 Texan troops fighting against 5000 Mexican troops. Whereas, The Admiral writers use 12 Korean ships against 330 Japanese ships. Noah (2014)
DEMOCRATS (side of Noah) vs. REPUBLICANS (side of Cain)
This film NOAH (2014, Russell Crowe as NOAH) fits in well with the message the Creator has given me to preach which is that evil (IN ITS ENTIRETY) must be purged from the face of the earth. It was the case in NOAH's day with the line-of-Cain, and it was the case in the time of the near annihilation of the Tribe of Benjamin (Judges chp 19-21). Because the evil, sexually perverted and rape/murderous Benjamin tribe was allowed by the Judah tribe (line of David and Jesus) to not become extinct (extinguished from the face of the earth) but allowed to perpetuate itself from a 600 man remnant remaining alive after a violent war with Judah where 65,000 men from Judah and Benjamin died (and 1000's of women and children and animals mentioned, but not in the numbers killed), these 600 evil men remaining from Benjamin kidnapped virgin wives and from this line came the likes of the evil King Saul and Saul of Tarsus (aka Paul). Paul kidnapped the WAY from Jesus' followers and made his own religion called Christianity which is a cult (a mixture of truth and falsehood i.e. yeast). Jesus warned about Paul many times (although not by name). Jesus warned of wolves in sheep's clothing (Benjamin tribe is the wolf tribe) coming into the flock. Jesus warned of the yeast (false teaching) of the Pharisees (Paul was both a Benjamite and a Pharisee). King Tubal-cain preached a good believable sermon to Ham regarding Ham's so-called God-given right to seize the earth and all it contains and take dominion of it and subdue it. Ham almost fell for the lie. It is no wonder that so many have fallen for the message of the pseudo-apostle Paul. Paul did not meet any of the conditions for Apostleship as mentioned in ACTS chapter 1. But people for some reason still buy into the idea of Paul's story of seeing Jesus on the road to Damascus even though Jesus was gone to heaven to stay by ACTS 1:11 as testified to by the angels of God. As Bishop T D JAKES has said, "All that glitters is not gold" i.e. everything you read in the Bible is not truth (although factual) e.g. Paul's message and story. TRUTH and FACT are two different things. Jesus knew that when the Devil tempted him to jump to test if the angels would catch him. I think REPUBLICANS need to take a hard look at what they believe in. The film NOAH makes it clear that the DEMOCRATIC PARTY ideas of responsible stewardship of the earth and its animals and people and natural resources are God's idea, and that the REPUBLICAN PARTY ideas of exploitation of the earth (what Cain's line followed) is the exact opposite of God's plan. Are we our Brother's Keeper? Yes. Cain defied God by implying that Cain (himself) was not the Keeper of his Brother Abel. God does expect us to look after the needs of others as well as our own. That is what the DEMOCRATIC ideology does. However, one thing I noticed odd was that the writers of this epic film appear to make NOAH and his family noticeably negligent about looking after their grandfather Methusala who spends most of his days alone sleeping in a cave up in a mountainside away from family. NOAH and his family rarely visit him nor think to bring him anything when they do come. Methusala is not even invited on the ARK and ends up dying overcome by the flood waters. Strange. Perhaps the writers are making a statement against DEMOCRATS or society in general that we are not sufficiently looking after the needs of our elderly and in most cases shun them to live the rest of their lives in isolation and lack.
The Visual Bible: Acts (1994)
Great Satire on the life of Saul aka Paul
Great film that depicts Saul/Paul in a satirical way as an insane man who thinks he is an apostle and who goes about preaching a mysterious Good News which we never know what it is he is preaching? He performs miracles by his own power without using the Name of Jesus, is mistaken for a god, accepts free gifts from folks believing him a god, and performs parallel miracles and actions which mimic those of Jesus and his 12 Apostles (11 + Matthias). It is evident that a LAW is a work: The LAW of THEO-DYNAMICS which I state as: "For every action of Jesus and his 12 Apostles, there is an unequal but similar reaction by Saul/Paul (Devil's cohort)".
A few choice PARALLEL events:
Jesus blesses and heals a man blind from birth, which no one has ever done. JOHN'S GOSPEL
Many believed in Jesus because of this miracle. Paul curses a man (a sorcerer) causing him to become blind. ACTS 13 (lucky 13)
The man was telling the Governor of Paphos not to listen to Paul's preaching.
(we don't know if Paul's preaching testified to the risen Jesus or not from the text.)
The text tells us that the Governor believed in Paul's message upon seeing Paul blind the man.
That's funny, Jesus always cured people of lameness and blindness and demons in order for
people to believe his message.
(Paul claims to have been blinded when Jesus appeared to him on the road to Damascus)
Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead after 4 days. Jesus brings great glory to God.
Jesus soon thereafter eats the Passover Supper with Lazarus and Jesus' Disciples. JOHN'S GOSPEL Paul talks on and on (big wind bag) until midnight to a group of people, one man falls asleep and
falls out the window 3 stories to the ground and dies. Paul brings him back to life without
using the Name of Jesus, nor mentioning Jesus, nor giving glory to both Jesus and God.
Then Paul preached again to them until morning. God only knows what Paul preached about all
evening and through the night until morning? (not mentioned in the text)
Paul eats the Lord's Supper with these people in the upstairs room the man fell from. ACTS 20.
Peter heals a man born lame, using the Name of Jesus, bringing great glory to the Father. ACTS 3 Paul heals a man born lame, NOT using the Name of Jesus, the people think Paul is a god
and they bring flowers and sacrifices to him, and finally they stone Paul almost to death. ACTS 14
Jesus compares himself to Moses' fiery snake-on-a-pole which Moses lifted up in the wilderness
for the sinning, poisonous snake bit Israelites to behold and be healed/live. GOSPEL JOHN Paul becomes bit by a snake which latches onto his hand, Paul shakes the snake off into the
fire. Paul does not die, and the people think he is a god. Paul doesn't deny it. ACTS 28
ACTS 26:24, "Paul, you are insane. Your long studying has broken your mind!" (Gov. Festus)
Jesus turned simple gifts (loaves/fishes) into enough to care for the needs of 1000's of people. GOSPELS Paul received gifts from those believing him to be a god (Jesus' Name not used). ACTS 28:10
Jesus was the perfect man, sinless, a Lamb without spot, ready to die for the sins of the world.
GOSPELS Paul portrayed himself to his followers as a perfect man, not guilty of the blood of anyone,
because he never failed to preach Jesus to them. Paul says he worked with his hands to
pay his own way, so as not to be a burden to anyone. Yet there is plenty of evidence from ACTS
that Paul failed to present Jesus as Savior, failed to give credit to Jesus (or Jesus' Name)
when preaching and performing miracles and when avoiding death and when predicting the future.
Paul received many gifts from the folks believing him to be a god. Paul didn't tell them otherwise,
that he wasn't a god, or, Paul told them this only when it was too late. ACTS 14:14,15; ACTS 28:6,10
Peter is arrested by Temple guards, put into prison and in chains, chained to 2 soldiers, then released by an angel
during the night before he was to be executed. Sixteen guards had guarded Peter. ACTS 12:6 Paul is arrested by Roman soldiers, put into prison and in chains, guarded by 1 jailer who disappears, then released by an angel causing an earthquake? ACTS
Jesus preached that, HUMAN POWER IS OF NO USE AT ALL. Believe I am the Son of God, sent by God. JOHN's GOSPEL. Paul preached that sinners must forsake their way and prove repentance by doing good deeds. ACTS 26:20.
Jesus was brought before Annas father-in-law to Caiaphas the high priest. "How dare you talk like that
to the high priest!", said the temple guard (referring to Jesus). And the temple guard slapped Jesus across
the mouth. Jesus answered, "If I have said anything wrong, tell everyone here what it was? But if I have
told the truth, why do you hit me?" GOSPEL OF JOHN Paul was brought before Ananias the high priest (and the Council). Paul was ordered slapped across the mouth.
Paul answered, "God shall slap you, you whitewashed pigpen. What kind of judge are you to break the law
yourself by ordering me struck like that?" ACTS 23
The Perfect Stranger (2005)
Can we have a sequel please?
Can we have a sequel to The Perfect Stranger & Another Perfect Stranger please? These movies are awesome! How about...
THE PERFECT PARABLE (The Unmerciful Servant).
A story of a man or woman who can't accept the free gift of pardon from sins.
Instead, he/she tells Jesus that he/she just needs more time to overcome the sin in his/her own life. He/She feels they can be considered good enough to get in to Heaven if they are allowed just a bit more time to conquer a recurring sin in his/her own life. He/She even demands others to stop sinning, and won't forgive others who have wronged him/her. But Jesus shows that person WHAT IF their life is being demanded of them tonight !
House M.D.: Broken (2009)
House Broken vs. KPax
So which is better House "Broken" 2 part episode or the film KPax? Both are (or could be) feature films. Both are shot at a Psych ward. Both have a main male inmate star (egomaniac genius)and a great supporting cast of inmates. Both have a prominent Psych doctor trying to understand/heal them. Both have a supporting inmate who gets well by: A. (House) A cellist that sees a music/voice box and is made well. B. (KPax) an inmate that sees a Blue bird and is made well. Both are memorable for me and deserve being watched more than once, at least twice or more. Brilliant! Not just the story and acting, but all aspects of the productions.
TRIVIA: Actress Tracy Vilar played a nurse on House M.D. Season 7 episode 6. She was also the inmate with the multiple personalities in the film K-PAX. When greeted by another name in the film K-PAX, her multiple character responded "I'm Vanessa", in a creepy & sexy voice.
The Visual Bible: The Gospel of John (2003)
Excellent, but with one(1) major flaw in faithfulness to the Gospel
This film is flawed. Yes, it is a beautifully made film with great purpose, and I am thankful for it. However, it is not a faithful account of the Gospel totally as the film states (at the beginning). One major issue exists. Jesus claimed that the only sign he would give was that of Jonah. That just as Jonah was 3 days and 3 nights in the belly of the great fish, so the Son of Man will be 3 days and 3 nights in the heart of the earth. "Tear down this temple, and in 3 days I will rebuild it again". Jesus was speaking of his body. The narrative in the film states that Jesus was crucified on Friday. This statement does not jive with Jesus' claims. Jesus was crucified on Wednesday, laid in the tomb before sundown, then rose from the dead after sundown on Saturday (thus 3 days and 3 nights in the heart of the earth). What Jesus did after Sundown on Saturday until early morning Sunday when Mary discovered him is not an issue. Perhaps he prayed? The most important point of the film is that Jesus is the Son of God, and that believing in him one has eternal life. That is the great message of the Bible and is conveyed in the film. However, why would a Jew believe this message when it is obvious to them that Christians have it all wrong when it comes to Jesus' sign of Jonah? The following passage used in the film incorrectly uses Friday instead of Wednesday as the day Jesus was crucified.
Good News Bible Translation 3.John 19:31 [ Jesus' Side Is Pierced ] Then the Jewish authorities asked Pilate to allow them to break the legs of the men who had been crucified, and to take the bodies down from the crosses. They requested this because it was Friday, and they did not want the bodies to stay on the crosses on the Sabbath, since the coming Sabbath was especially holy.
