SKY TV WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!!!!?
20 May 2021
I usually do not slate a show or film, however this is truly terrible. I mean I wanted to like this, but can't suspend my disbelief to even tolerate it. The cast is just trope after trope. Prisoner Cell Block H in Space would have been better! The actors have to over act to compensate for the truly abysmal writing and direction in episode one. Bug eyed stares and psychotic dreadlocks do not make a villain! CGI cannot save a show, although the stuff on show isn't so bad, until your eyes are completely drawn to how crappy they really are when an explosion involving two craft (which decided to stay in the way of a spaceship which was going to warp space around them, thereby destroying them! Terrible writing smh) relayed to the authorities watching by a truly terrible interface that looks like an atari vcs drew it! I really, really, really wanted to like it but got as far as five minutes into episode two, and could not stop picking it apart. The list of problems is weighty. Maybe if I'd suffered a massive head injury I could have enjoyed it? It had such promise but comes off as a very poorly thought out exercise. It could have been so much more, with time care and effort. Competition on Netfilx, Amazon and Disney is far superior. Sky TV what have you done!?

it isn't House it's more like Breaking Bad in psychiatry
6 December 2016
Hugh Laurie is as usual superb, He plays doctor Eldon Chance a consulting Neuropsychiatrist testifying in court on the fitness/capability of some of the god awful cases that come across his desk. As a result of dealing with some of these cases it appears to be taking a toll on him. the first episode is a slow teaser of an introduction to himself, his friends and his ex-wife and daughter. His character is brilliant, human, vulnerable and ultimately flawed.. I made the comparison to breaking bad as the series 'seems' to be his descent into much darker territory. As all things with the mind nothing is quite what it seems... solid acting from all involved, but I have to stress this is NOT a procedural House M.D affair as some people may get that impression from other reviews/comparisons. If your looking for some cerebral, intriguing and mystifying entertainment then this is it... 3 episodes in and I was hooked! Ethan Suplee(Randy from My Name Is Earl) deserves a special mention for playing against type in such a menacingly dark and intelligent way.

Possibly one of the best shows of all time
21 January 2016
I'm writing this review purely because some d*****s has called this show a gateway to occult material and other completely irrational stuff!

1) this show is aimed at kids but totally overshoots and is accessible to anyone. 2) it is exceptionally well written and created - it has not 'ripped off' any other works but uses them as obvious tropes for storytelling an character creation - every character is fully formed and immensely funny. 3) It genuinely has some really good jump scares and creep out moments and the dialogue sparkles.

There is so much love put into this show it's just such a shame it got such a short run.

Watch this and I guarantee that you will belly laugh till milk squirts out of your nose :)

Mr. Robot (2015–2019)

intelligent, brooding and atmospheric techdrama #fsociety
24 July 2015
First off - for all the people that are ranting its $%£* because its technically inaccurate or has sweeping generalisations - they just don't get it. the show is about a dysfunctional but gifted security programmer/coder by day and disenfranchised hacktivist by night. he has difficulty maintaining relationships and can only really get close to people by hacking/invading their lives. he has a therapist and a uses drugs to cope with his reality. the tone and feel of the pilot is very striking an sets up the story very well. If you are not interested in social problems, computing, social media etc you will probably not like this, I'd say give it a try anyway. Christian Slater's appearance is a welcome one as the other protagonist/mentor/illusion? the show tries to highlight our increasingly digitalised age and the technobubble in which people have wrapped themselves in in order to escape or avoid their reality(y'know the peeps that live on FB TWtr Snpcht like they can't stand to be in their own bodies!) and at times your not sure if what you are seeing is a delusion on the part of the main character (Elliot). Again for all the people screaming about how bad it is - there has to be sweeping generalisations and some dumbing down of the tech language and explanations otherwise you'd be left with a narrative that speaks to 1% of the population in short - go and Hatewatch something else! I truly hope this show lives up to the promise of the pilot and our antihero succeeds in his quest.

A uniquely well crafted Sci-Fi, Brilliant viewing
23 November 2014
Finally a true sci-fi. It explores the human condition based on an extraordinary premise. To all the nay sayers who hate this movie - your entitled to your opinions but if you were disappointed go back to watching Battleship and Transformers because this is for true sci-fi fans. Snook and Hawke are excellent. Snook's performance is truly brilliant, She gets you to experience every emotion the character she plays brilliantly. I hope to see Snook in many more films. This film is absolutely enthralling. The performances, style and tone of the film are great. It leaves you speechless as the depth of the plot is revealed and a great desire to watch it again immediately! 8/10
