Paranormal Entity (2009)
Oh Shane...
I have to give Shane Van Dyke some words...just because you come from a TV family does NOT mean you are capable of being a TV or film star! I have seen Shane in a few productions and to be honest, he is a talentless actor and now, as a writer and director, he proves he is also useless at these roles too. I have just sat through one of the worst productions I have ever seen. It was not only badly filmed (we all had a giggle at the shot of him on his lap top when he is pretending to press keys and scroll!), the acting was bad! The woman playing the mother in this film was terrible! if you want actors to improvise Shane, then get actors who can improvise! This woman was appalling. I watched Paranormal Activity a few years ago and found it boring and terribly written, acted and directed, however, having now seen this atrocious piece of garbage, I consider paranormal activity a genius production. I have read some reviews of this on IMDb and am totally surprised anyone could class this as good. Are these people part of Shane's gang? Look folks, before you consider watching this, let me save you time, it is a complete and badly done rip off, using a cheap camcorder and BAD acting. Writing wise, it's suffering a great deal from the fact it has no writing and seems all improvised. Badly Improvised I might add. Somebody should inform Shane that a new career really does need looking in to. It is surely not enough to merely trade on your family name, surely you Americans can see where the talent is and where, in Shane's case, it is so obviously lacking. I am a fan of Dick Van Dyke, but Shane, I am sorry love, you just haven't got what it takes.
Paranormal Activity (2007)
When does the horror start
After sitting through this 90 minute film, I was keen to read what other people thought of it. I am VERY surprised that people can actually rate this as good or say that it scared them! I found it tedious to sit through and was left feeling rather swindled by it. This is most certainly a case of a film been over-over-over hyped. The ending itself is absolutely ridiculous! It is the kind of ending that makes you think the writer/director or whomever suddenly thought: "Where can we go now? How do we end this?" I can see where the idea came from for this movie: MOST HAUNTED, GHOSTHUNTERS and all those other 'nightvision' ghost hunting extravaganzas, but for me, this format does not transpose to the big screen. I would not recommend anyone to spend money watching this in the cinema, save your money and go and see something better! In all, the film for me, lacked any atmosphere, likable characters and in fact, I couldn't have cared less what was going on by twenty minutes in. Since I had paid to see it, I was staying until the end, despite leaving the cinema feeling ripped off and totally disatisfied. Sorry to anyone who thought this was scary, personally, I find the original Amityville Horror more scary and Poltergeist more spooky.
Constantine (2005)
Truly bad
The fact that Mr. Reeves is one of the most wooden actors to have ever graced the screen in recent year, doesn't help this truly bad film. He merely coughs, smokes and does a Clint Eastwood impression throughout with the occasional fight thrown in. I feel sorry for anyone who wastes their money watching this pile of garbage! The plot which loosely centres around him fighting demons that have made it onto out 'plain' could have been executed in 30 minutes. Terrible characters and dialogue and scenes added to simply pad out a story that could warrant a full length presentation. It is quite obvious that this film is just another example of Hollywood rushing out substandard fare to earn a quick buck. In short, life is too short to waste precious minutes watching this.
