Cow (I) (2021)

Great film
15 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I think this film is well done, showing the realities of farming as well. The camerawork is excellent. The way that the seperate lives of the mother and the calf show the differences in how cows and bullocks are treated. The film is not dressed up to make the farms look like paradise but there is no overt maltreatment either. Very different from the recent PANORAMA episode which shows maltreatment of cows. I wonder how many farms let the cows out this often. I would like to see scenes of the pens being washed and practical things like that, as well.

Nightmare
6 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The only way to interpret this film, whatever the director or the critics say, is that it's a "Nightmare". Pure and simple. It starts and ends when "she wakes up". Interpreted in this way I think it comes off absolutely brilliantly, with hints of "Carrie". I found the most disturbing parts very entertaining and in this film, more than in any other, I recognise JL's beauty and talent. I think people are trying to interpret this film as something it isn't. So: Absolutely brilliant.

Lame

Lame and boring. I had to give up at 48 minutes. Even worse than 50 shades of grey.

Terrible, although these actors' careers are not over as the box office made a fortune.

Rain (IV) (2001)

not bad
7 January 2017
Compared to most dog films this was great. The dog itself carried the film. As for the girl, I think she would have risked it to help Rain without being asked. The industry is crying out for a movie featuring a dog to equal the horse in "War Horse". At the start of the film the dog seems very docile, a family dog, unsuitable for war but yes dogs can be trained. As 4,500 dogs were sent out to Nam one must assume that indeed great bravery was shown by the dogs. Just as wars have improved health care for human veterans (although many later become neglected) I wonder how much medical care dogs get in the military. I know of at least one veterinarian in the UK uses his own intelligence and new "war injury" technology to get animals with serious leg and spine problems, to walk again. The tragedy is that 5 million healthy young dogs are euthanized every year in the USA because dogs and puppies are abandoned.

good

we occasionally find interesting plots of German movies, even low- budget. some of the main characters justify themselves in the context of the contemporary Germany. The plot is interesting but the sequence of events is a bit confusing. Occasionally in Germany these things happen but not often. The Germans are a great people. Certainly worth watching but writing a reviewing is more difficult when you write it at 5am. With time I believe this movie will grow in stature. Well worth the accolades. Consistently, this movie does not attract the claim that it justifies. Well done to all concerned. Wonderful plot which develops in crescendo as time passes. In this type of genre it can't be beaten
