Andor (2022)
More of this please!
Wow! Everything about this show was so well done. I'd go as far as to say this just slightly edges The Mandalorian for me.
Every character has so much depth to them that it helps you understand their motivation and reasons for doing the things they do. The casting was great! Genevieve O'Reilly (Mon Mothma), Stellan Skarsgård (Luthen), Denise Gough (Dedra Meero) and Andy Serkis (Kino Loy) put in some stellar performances.
The best part however was the writing and the dialogues. You could feel the climate of that era and the struggle and oppression that everyone was dealing with. Kino and Luthen's monolgues (both in episode 10) were incredibly heartfelt and gave so much of an insight into what they had going on under the surface.
Hopefully we get more of the Andor version of Star Wars than the Obi Wan version (which was abysmal).
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)
What was all that about?
Seemed like it was going somewhere with the first couple of episodes but then went downhill fast. It's filled with pointless cameos and no real plot. This felt more like a sitcom and not something Marvel put out (Not the old Marvel anyway).
Most of the characters and their motivations aren't properly fleshed out which leads to a lack of any interest in their roles. She-Hulk's beef with Titana seemed straight out of a 90's teen comedy. When she's not looking for someone to hook up with, She-hulk spends her time doing..nothing. Maybe this was targeted at a really young audience?
What a waste of time.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Pretty bad
I loved the Mandalorian and was hoping for something of the same standard. 3 Episodes in and this has been a disappointment.
The storyline is bad, the acting is terrible (assassins struggling to catch a 10 year old who seems like she can barely run, Vader struggling to fight against a has-been Obi-Wan) and the dialogue is laughable ("You should have killed me when you had the chance". Really?)
Feels like they could have done a lot with the premise but this just fails. Disappointing.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Not your usual Marvel movie - and not in a good way
This movie felt very different from your regular Marvel movie. Not that movies shouldn't try to be different but this one felt like it just didn't..fit. Too much of an emphasis on the visuals (which were great) but not as much on the story line.
At times it felt like they were trying to fit as many surprises (Easter eggs?) into the movie without considering if it added anything to the storyline. The result - a weird amalgamation of characters without any real substance.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021)
Plot was a letdown
Had some good moments but the plot was a letdown. The villain and her problems with the GRC weren't convincing enough. It also felt like they tried too hard to push current events and politics into the storyline. Disappointing.
