The Warrior's Way (2010)
Must see
I have no idea what kind of person would rate this movie with 4 or fewer stars; certainly no one I would want to share a brew with.
This film is very entertaining, the visuals are beautiful, the story-line is a classic morality play, and acting very believable.
Script well done Visuals are outstanding Score equally well done Visual Effects indescribable
What more do you need to highly rate a film? If you came to this film looking for a shoot-em up..look elsewhere. If you came to this film looking for a Bruce Lee rip off..look elsewhere.
Should you have some interest in innovative script, visuals, acting with a touch of Fellini---RENT THIS FILM, heck BUY THIS FILM.
The Happy Poet (2010)
Small film- but worth your time
This is one of those little films that makes life bearable, like; Austin,TX, Lake Travis afternoons and a cold beer on a Summer day.
The premise of the film is straight forward with the story as old as any Greek morality play-- the central characters are "people you know" in your personal life, staged in a familiar setting(any street America)these are the reasons the film works.
The script, character development and direction could use some tweaking; the audience gets to "know" the characters but because there is so little back story on them it is hard to develop much empathy which is frustrating.
The direction could be tighter but I can understand why and where the director *may* have made the decision not to corral his actor's movements or why much thought was given to "blocking".
On the other paw..the film entertains, informs and its resolution climaxes well. Go see it-rent it now.
The Killing (2011)
Late comer now totally addicted
I remember running in to this series back in 2011 but never saw it after the pilot. I found it just recently and I cannot turn it off! I am a big fan of MHz and their crime series so it isn't surprising that I am totally in to this series; it has the same style and filming techniques I so admire in the Swedish/Danish and Norwegian series I catch on another channel.
Good filming and a really decent (for a North American Production) running script with twists that do surprise..this is well worth your time.
I am catching it on Netflix and so worth the money.
