These reviews cannot be genuine
5 September 2021
I personally can't believe the positive reviews of this movie can be genuine. We watched if after looking at the overall score and were very dissapointed. It's shallow, predictable, repetitive and with a badly set up plot at the start. It makes reference to groundhog day during the film, but frankly any reference to GHD is an insult to that film. The lead roles are unconvincing and we just could not buy into the characters or really care what happened to them. We stopped watching part way through so no idea if there was a happy ending and frankly don't care either way. Back to movie school for everyone involved!

An Enjoyable Feel Good Movie
17 March 2019
We were looking for a film to watch at the local cinema, read the overview and thought we would give this one a go. It pretty much turned out exactly as we expected - Not a 10 out of 10 film, but a feel good movie that was well worth watching. I wont go into details and risk a spoiler but it is a good mix of drama and comedy. Plenty of laughs, a bit of romance and a nice story that is based on real life events. If you fancy a night out with a movie that's entertaining and an easy watch give Fishermans Friends a go.

I won't be going to see the next one !

Having really enjoyed the whole Harry Potter franchise and the first fantastic beasts film, I was really looking forward to seeing this film. On the positive side the special effects are quite spectacular and I still love Eddie Redmayne's character Newt. On the negative side I did find it quite confusing, especially given that they attempted to explain what was going on part way through. However, the thing that has really put me off of going back to see the next film was the complete lack of a decent ending. It left me feeling really ripped off and surely it cant be that hard to give a film a decent ending even though it is part of an ongoing story - The Potter movies managed it ! I was just left feeling very disappointed and sad about what could have been a great film.

A fantastic film and fitting tribute to Freddie Mercury and Queen
1 November 2018
Despite being a Queen fan and seeing them live at Wembley a year after Live Aid, I was initially put off of going after listening to the film review on 5 Live. However, my daughter persuaded us to go after seeing it and giving it rave reviews. After watching the film I really wonder what criteria these people use to rate a film as I thought it was one of the best movies I had ever seen. The film is entertaining, moving ( I have not cried so much in a cinema for a very long time ), funny and informative. The acting is fantastic and you forget at some points that you are watching actors rather than the real band. The recreation of the Live Aid concert is truly stunning and took me right back to watching the real thing all those years ago. If you like Queen you will love this film and even if you missed them first time round give this film a go. Congratulations to everyone involved on creating a real masterpiece !
