Masters of the Universe: Revelation (2021)
Loved this show. Loved the original as a kid too.
He-man was the first cartoon I ever watched as a child. This show is just as great.
Trese (2021)
Amazing animation, spoiled by terrible dialogue
The writing and delivery of dialogue in this show is incredibly wooden. None of the characters feel realistic and I don't care about any of them. It's a shame because the animation is good and the stories are interesting.
Star Trek: Lower Decks (2020)
Saw a review here that said 'who is this show made for?'
It's for people who a) like irreverent humour, b) think Star Trek is awesome and c) aren't neck beard gatekeepers who think they can decide from their armchair what Star Trek Is and Is Not.
And guess what? We outnumber you.
Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
Better than 2017's, but it's a hard 6
Mediocre, far too long, exposition fest. But by comparison with the theatrical release, it's freaking Citizen Kane
Wizards (2020)
Not as good as previous series. Felt extremely rushed
It was fine but everything happened too fast for me to feel any emotional attachment to any of the characters, so I didn't care about what happened to them at all. The editing left my head spinning.
See You Yesterday (2019)
"Genius" protagonist
For me the least enjoyable aspect of this movie was its hero. She's supposed to be a genius who invented time travel, but learns nothing throughout the movie. She's unable to logically problem solve to come up with a solution to her predicament - the hallmark of any good scientist.
If you're smart enough to invent time travel, you'd be smart enough to plan better and learn from failures.
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Flawless
This movie is perfect in construction, with just the right amount of feel-goodiness added but not so much as to make one wretch. A portrait of the strength of the human spirit, and the awesome power of hope. I love the feeling of hope that this movie inspires in the viewer. I haven't met anyone who doesn't love it (still awaiting the DVD's return as I lent it to a friend about 4 months ago!) The only negative comment I've ever heard about it is the ending. Some die-hards think the movie should end with Red in the coach on his way to find Andy, but not show their meeting on the beach as its too corny. I disagree. I think that after the whole battle to escape, and wondering if they will etc, people needed the closure that seeing them meet offered. If they'd hugged and cried that would have been too much for me, but it was done perfectly. With Red, casually strolling down the beach towards Andy and starting to laugh. I'm getting goose-bumps just thinking about it now.
My favourite movie.
