Gandahar (1987)
This Is An Excellent Film
I haven't seen this film since I was about 11 years old (no rental store has it), however this is an excellent movie, filled with prophecies, rebellion, and good morals.
Gandahar is set during a time when an empire rules the world with a steady fist, and a person is sent to the future to fulfill a prophecy created by the ruler 1000 years before. "Gandahr was will be saved." Gandahar details how a person from the past tries to save the future.
Gandahar reminds me of Frank Herbert's Dune series. If you like Dune, Blade Runner, Star Wars, The Matrix, or any George Lucas film, then this movie is definitely worth a watch.
Darkness (2002)
Like all horror movies from 1970-1990
{This is an objective review, I didn't like the movie (I think it sucked more than suck ever sucked before), but...}
If you love horror flicks as much as I do, DON'T see this movie. It has every good element of every major horror movie from 1970 to 1990. In fact, it seems like someone just made a collage of all those movies, then titled it "Darkness" (for lack of a better title, probably). Me and my girlfriend were actually naming the movie references while watching this.
However, if you are new to the horror scene or were born after 1990, this may be the introduction to horror movies you've been looking for. To the horror uninitiated, it may prove to be a frightening and suspenseful movie (there were people in the audience with me who actually jumped and screamed at certain points). It may also eliminate the need to actually sit through all those other movies.
