Just that. I can't believe Disney hasnt removed this garbage yet. Makes you wonder what kind of power Will Smith wields. Everyone knows he would start playing the race card and have the backing of powerfull politicians and celebrities. It could start riots.

Russian Doll

Not like Groundhog Day.

I read a little bit about this series before watching it. I thought it would be like a feminist version of Groundhog Day, but it is not. The only thing these two films have in common is that the charachters are trapped in a time loop. Russian Doll is much darker then Groundhog day and the story is completly diffrent. The first couple of episodes are just ok but when Allan comes in to the picture around episode 3 or 4 things get a lot more interesting. If you are thinking about watching this on Netflix then I can deffinatly reccomend it. Just dont think it will be anything like Groundhog Day.

I was hesitant to watch this film because of the low rating here, but i was pleasantly surprised by it. Good acting by Forest Whitaker and also by the other guy, no idea what his name is. Most people seem to not like this film because its never explained what is happening to the world. I thought it did a good job of letting the audience feel what the charachters in the movie were feeling. I can strongly recommend this film on Netflix. I hope they do a sequel.

I loved this film. I think why most people here are criticizing it because they don't understand it. You have to be into the whole virtual world, mmorpg culture to understand it. I have played a lot of those kind of games, mostly Entropia Universe and Second Life. This movie is a very good satire (and maybe also a warning?) to the virtual reality games culture.
Good acting by Gerard Butler and Michael C. Hall, the lead from Dexter. Good action scenes. I like the way Gerard Butler moves in the fight scenes just like a character from Doom or CS would move. Its little things like these that i think you have to have experience from virtual reality and first person shooter games to fully appreciate.
Anywho, i don't want to give away to much. I had low expectations about this movie, because i had read so many negative reviews about it here on IMDb and elsewhere.
People reading this, and wondering if you should see Gamer or not, i will say, Give it a chance. This is good solid Hollywood action.
I give it 8/10.

First comment for this movie, yippiiiiii! I watched this movie only because it is the first movie with south korean actor Choi Min-Sik in almost 3 years. He is most famous for playing the lead in the international hit movie Oldboy. But people who are familiar with south korean cinema will know that this man has many good movies under his belt, i personally think he is one of the finest actors in the world. I wonder what made him choose to do this movie after such a long break.
Most of the movie takes place in the northern part of Nepal, in the Himalayas. It doesn't have much dialogue. If you are interested in watching some very beautiful footage of this part of the world, then this movie is highly recommended. It has a very dreamy and surreal feel to it.
It does not however have much of a story line. It is very quite and can easily put you to sleep. I guess people who enjoy Ingmar Bergman type films will like this one. Choi Min-Sik gives an excellent performance as usual, but the lack of dialogues makes it a quite dull experience.
This is the first film i have seen by this director. The movie feels like a collection of slide shows, not much movement. It moves from one beautiful still image to another.
I am not sure myself if i liked the film or not. I wasn't put of by it, the beauty of the nature of the place made me keep watching it to the end. But i don't think it is for any kind of mainstream audience. I gave it a 6 out of 10. 5 for the pretty images and one extra star for Choi Min-Siks acting. I hope he does more films in the future, and not so far apart.

I like Akshay Khanna. Thas was the only reason i decided to watch this film and i'm happy i did. "Shaadi Se Pehle" was a very pleasant surprise, and i usually don't like these kind of mindless comedy's. But the story is pretty original and unoriginal at the same time. A couple of jokes in the film are really hilarious, almost as if the great, late Mehmood himself wrote the script.
Akshay Khanna is very good as usual. Although the wig he's wearing makes him look a little gay. Sunil Shetty is really a comedy actor, he should lay of the action flicks altogether. The two female leads look very pretty and do a OK job. Aftaab Shivdasani's acting was below average. I loved the special appearance by Gulshan Grover, him doing kind of a parody of his earlier "bad man"-character, though i'm not so sure if it was intentional or not.
The songs are time-pass only. They should have cut of at least two of the songs and make the film a little shorter.
7/10.. After Malamaal Weekly, this is the best Hindi comedy of the year so far!

Just saw this movie on DVD, I wish i had seen it in cinema, but i didn't because of all the idiots telling me that this is a bad movie! Those who don't like it say thats it is historically inaccurate, that Alexander was not gay or Colin Farrel didn't do a good job playing him etc.
After seeing the movie i did some research myself and found out that this actually is a very accurate depiction of Alexanders life, his times and his deeds. And Colin Farrel is becoming one of my favorite actors after seeing this and "The New World". The only problem i have is that they chose Angelina Jolie to play Alexanders mother, she looks way too young to fit the part.
Direction was superb, as well as the music and the war scenes. Val Kilmer was very good as King Phillip. What I loved about this movie is that it showed what could have driven Alexander to do what he did in a very emotional way. It doesn't show him as some tyrant who had no goal in mind but to plunder and conquer the world. We have no way of knowing what kind of person he was in real life, but this could very well be it.
It is very probable that he was bisexual, because that was the way of the Hellenistic culture in ancient times. Men were supposed to be with other men because women were evil. Women were only good for making children. I am not making judgment on them, only reporting some of what we know of these people and their culture.
It is a very good movie, and I really recommend it to everyone, especially if you like "Braveheart", "Ben-Hur" and "Gladior" type movies, and to anyone who is a fan of Alexander the Great.

I almost didn't see this movie because of the bad rating it got here at IMDb. I am confused by some of the comments it got. This is a typical Hollywood action flick, and one of the better ones that have released so far in 2005.
This movie is not truing to be anything more then a good and entertaining action film, so complaining that it is not realistic or emotionally shallow is just stupid.
The plot is very simple. The U.S air-force is truing a new kind of plane with a A.I. computer on board. On a test flight, an accident happens that creates a malfunction in the computer, and the "hero" has to save the day along with his lady love.
The special effects and action scenes save this movie. The acting from the 3 leading actors is adequate. I had expected a bigger role for Jamie Fox.
If your looking for good Hollywood action, see this film!!!

Boring... very boring!

The only reason i rented this movie was because of the cute looking girl on the cover. If I had known, what I know now, not too judge a book/film by its cover, i would just have rented one of the LoTR movies again. I'm not the kind who dislikes movies just because they are unrealistic.. but this is just too much!
I think the main reason why this movie is so awful is because of the direction. With a decent director, Azumi could even have bin watchable... but alas, it was not meant to be!
Clothes look ridiculous... the action scenes try to be like crouching tiger but look more like a b-movie from the 70's. Story.... what story??
The extra star is for the girl who plays Azumi. Not because she's a good actress or anything.. but because she's just so damn cute!

I cant remember last time a saw a thriller movie as good as this one. Excellent acting and directing make this average plot into a nail biting experience. Though the story is not bad, it can be a bit confusing at times. I have seen oldboy now at least 5 times and it gets better every time I see it, the main reason for this being Min-Sik Choi who plays the role of Oh-Daesu with such intensity, specially in the climax scene, that you completely forget the real world and for 120 some minutes get trapped in HIS world made up of vengeance and insanity. Superb action!!
I have read the other reviews on this site about this movie, and talked to a lot of other people who have seen it, and i think this is the kind of movie that you will either love or hate, or love to hate, or hate to love, depending on your taste in movies. The first Korean movie I have seen, but definitely not my last.
