Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King (2017)
Is quite entertaining if you are brown
Let me start off by saying, I'm a brown Immigrant kid in US. And, I got to say we don't have many Indian/Brown Comedians up here. So, when I heard Hasan has a new special coming up, I was quite excited. He is not the Best correspondent in Daily show, but he gets the job done quite well. His pieces are usually entertaining, not saying he is bad, but he is quite adequate compared to others. He definitely is in my top 5 correspondents after Oliver, Colbert, Carrell and Sam. It's not that he is not funny, but not upto his peers level, that is it. OK, enough of the rambling about Daily show. But, this special is purely entertaining only if you can relate. And, you can relate only if you are a Brown Immigrant kid. As I am the picture boy of that club, I was extremely satisfied with this special. It's not all belly laughs, but quite entertaining. All I got to say is, if you are a Brown kid, check it out and you may go back to your younger days with this guy. If you are not a Brown kid, you may see his points, but don't get the inner feel of that point. So, you may like or not like it. No guarantees. Watch for yourself and find out if this is upto your standard or not. But, for me, I liked it and will watch again soon. Good job, man.
Bo Burnham: Make Happy (2016)
Man, that ending though
I have watched it already a couple of times but never saw the ending of the special after the standup. That 5 minutes end after the standup. Man, I don't even remember the last time I cried watching something. Standup is good, but it doesn't even hold a candle to the emotional ending. If you have netflix account, watch it from start to finish. By the end, you will be crying with laughter and at the end, you will have real tears of emotion. Do watch it.
Malcolm in the Middle (2000)
The best show I have ever seen. Period
After watching Parks and Recreation, I thought no other show I watch can top it. But just after watching Pilot of this series, I changed my mind instantly. This is by far the best comedy/drama/any genre show I have ever seen. There isn't a single dull moment in the whole 7 seasons. I was binge watching it even when I was doing work. That much I loved it. Although the name of the show is Malcolm in the middle, it should have been Hal and his sons. Coz none of the characters is left unused for this perfect masterpiece. Dewey's Opera episode is my favorite and I don't imagine any other episode of any other show topping that. If you have any doubts if you want to watch this show, watch Bowling or Opera episodes. If you don't like such humor/screenplay, you are not gonna like it. But, if you enjoy those episodes, you are in for a treat. When I completed the show the first time (I'm watching whole 3rd time again in 1 year), I thought it did not have a satisfying ending. But upon watching it the second time, I cannot imagine any other fitting end for the show. I already recommended this show for 5 of my friends, and they all love it. Cheers for the creators on creating such a wonderful masterpiece.
Fan (2016)
It's definitely in my top 10 favorite movies of all time
I stopped watching bollywood movies a long time ago as I couldn't take unnecessary songs, fight scenes and love stories which are the core features of Indian cinema. So, I thought why would Sharukh khan will make a movie that is realistic, different and really runs on acting instead of cheesy bollywood romantic masala. But damn, sharukh did it. This is definitely the best film of sharukh I have ever seen in my personal opinion. I definitely liked DDLJ, but not at this level. This is the kind of movie bollywood really needs right now. I may definitely watch this film again just to checkout the action by Junior.. IMDb doesn't let me post my review as it is not lengthy enough so I'm gonna type my favorite quote of all times to fill the quota. As they say in my hometown, Don't Forget To Be Awesome (DFTBA)
Maleficent (2014)
Simply Superb. Will go watch again for all the awesomeness again.
Awwww.. Maleficent.. It should be called magnificent.. I never liked Disney movies that much because they have always showed love at first sight thing and that concept itself bugs me a lot. But since Frozen, I started liking Disney after like forever(I liked Disney at Lion King times. Mostly because I was a kid at that time). I must say they have changed Sleeping beauty story a lot for this film and that's the whole reason I liked it. The concept of a random prince coming and kissing a girl sort of gives me creeps always. The motherly love shown in this film really melted my heart like butter on a pan. Showing both innocent and dark side and finally mother side of Maleficent really made me warm and fuzzy. I don't want to give away a lot of spoilers. But trust me when I say that all the kids must watch this film to get a feeling of what true love is. The story is great, background music is apt, cast is wonderful, CGI is awesome, showing that every person have inner demons and angels is really what i liked in this film. Do watch it but expect a different story of Sleeping beauty. As Sirius said, the world isn't split into good people and Death Eaters. We've all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are.
Shingeki no Kyojin (2013)
Boy oh boy what an anime
Attack on titan. Where do I start about this master piece. My new No.1 anime of all times. I never thought, there would be another anime which can beat Death Note on my list. The reason I loved Death Note is because of its fast pace, clever screenplay, 0% drag in the entire series. And this anime, Attack on Titan clearly passed above Death Note for me. Boy, what an anime it is. The twist in episode 5 left my jaw hanging for an hour or so. The twists, the clarity in action sequences, the music, the development of characters, damn man.. Everything is so good in this one. After completing the series, I got to know that Mr. Araki. My 2 favorite anime of all time have been directed by the same guy. WOW. To the people who wanna start watching anime, I strongly recommend them to first watch this, later Death Note. When watching this anime, The tension it builds, the goosebumps it gives, the hope it fills in our hears, the subtle fear that creates in our minds are priceless. Go binge watch it if you have not seen it till now.
The Lego Movie (2014)
The Lego movie review..
The inner child in me is so happy right now that I can die with joy.. A wonderful movie with perfect story and screenplay. It doesn't matter that I am a 28 year old guy but boy am I happy. This is not a kid's movie, like Lego set is not just for kids. Everything is really awesome. The feeling of nostalgia that I get with this movie is unbelievable. The voice overs are great, the screenplay is superb. I am not gonna give any spoilers away. But, if you are reading this review, find a theater near by you playing this amazing film and go watch it TODAY. God bless the people who made this epic master piece. I am running out of words here to explain this.
Paul (2011)
Paul.. What a movie it is...
It's one of the best Simon Pegg and Nick Frost movie I have ever seen. I liked them in the cornetto trilogy and from then, trying to have a look at all of their work. Boy, they can give you a good laugh. I think the director did a pretty good job. References to other films like Star wars and aliens gave me a chuckle. The screenplay is captivating, visuals are great, comedy is fantastic. Good job on writing the story by Mr. Pegg and Mr. Frost. If I had known about this film when it was released, I definitely would have watched in theater. A pretty good Nerd film if I can say. Trust me, if you are a bit nerdy like me, you are gonna love it. Even if nerd movies are not your cup of tea, this movie is not gonna disappoint you. 10 rating for all the fun and entertainment.
