Never Been Chris'd (2023)
The Worst Hallmark Movie Ever. Don't Walk. Run!
This is the worst Hallmark movie I have ever seen and that is saying something because there's a lot of bad Hallmark movies. Yes, there are plenty of good Hallmark movies too, but certainly not this one. If you like reliving High School in the most shallow way possible then this is the movie for you. If that kind of thing makes you cringe then you're going to hate this film possibly as much as I did. There are really two stories going on here. First, there is the Friendship story between the two leading ladies. Neither one of them shows much in the way of acting. I would describe their acting in this film as cringe-worthy. Now possibly they can act and it's just horrible, horrible writing but I'm not sure. The male lead I refer to as mumbles because that's pretty much all he does all the time. I had to turn subtitles on to figure out what he was saying. All he does is speak in a monotone all the time. It's annoying. Could there be a more boring part? The second theme of this movie has a slight love story to it but even that is botched. In true Hallmark style everything is rushed at the end and figured out within the last 7 minutes. Thank God this one is over. 2 hours of my life wasted and painful. Avoid it all costs. Slow water torture would have been more pleasant.
Catch Me If You Claus (2023)
Complete Garbage
The two leads tried to save this poorly written movie, but the writing was so awful that it wasn't possible for them to pull it off. I've seen Luke in other movies where he did well. What a convoluted mess of a story. It just meandered around like a drunken fighter trying to connect but never landing a punch. My 5th graders can write better stories than this. Most of the actors were one dimensional. Maybe it wasn't their fault however because their characters were written one dimensionally. The thespians were the only good part. Two hours completely wasted. Skip this turkey. You probably got enough of that at Thanksgiving.
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
The Writer Should be Embarrassed for Writing Such Junk
Gal Gadot and Chris Pine try their best to save this film as do some of the other actors, but there is nothing they can do with such a horrible script. The writing is atrocious! I hate to say it, but DC needs to sell their franchise to someone who can handle it like Disney. The first Wonder Woman film was actually good. This one is total crap. Stop ruining films DC!
Time Trap (2017)
If you like really stupid people who whine all the time, this is the movie for you
I'm not a fan of horror movies. People making incredibly stupid decisions and missing the obvious time and time again, just drives me nuts. This isn't a horror movie, but it's written like one. The plot is atrocious. The dialog is even worse. Avoid at all costs.
Midway (2019)
This piece of garbage makes the 1976 version look good
The story of the battle of Midway is one of my favorite war stories of all time. If you haven't read the book, Incredible Victory, I highly recommend it.
The 1976 version of the battle of Midway was a soap opera version of what happened but it had the basic story and some great stars.
This version suffered from so many problems. Horrible acting, bad special effects, and worst of all, they got the story wrong, often leaving out or glossing over some of the most interesting parts.
What a piece of garbage.
Captain Marvel (2019)
Tired Cliches Dressed Up as Feminism When it Is Really Corporate Manipulation
I really wanted to like this movie. The cast was good, but the heavy handed writing ruined it. This is the kind of script you get from corporations attempting to squeeze every dollar they can from what they view as their property. Hell, it could have been designed by the Kree. And that is why it fails horribly.
Christmas at Pemberley Manor (2018)
Poor acting and writing
This made for tv movie is full of cornpone, but that is often the case with Hallmark films. The real problem is the horrible script and terrible acting. Everyone is wooden and there is zero chemistry between the stars. Everything is a cliche.
I could put up with the snow in summer filming but the script and the acting made watching this drudgery.
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
By Far the Best of the New Star Wars Movies
I almost didn't watch this movie and that would have been a mistake. Disney seems to churn out a Star Wars film about about every year in an attempt to squeeze as much money as possible out of this franchise. The first three were anywhere from Horrible to mediocre. This is the first film that I actually liked of the new films because it felt more like the originals. It had hope and focused on the characters instead of telling a convoluted mess of a story. Kudos to Ron Howard for getting it right.
Enchanted Christmas (2017)
One of the More Unique Hallmark Christmas Films this Year
My wife and I both enjoy and watch a lot of Hallmark movies every Christmas. We were intrigued by this one because the story was slightly different for a Hallmark movie. In this one, she gets reacquainted with her ex.
We both found the story a little more unique than most of the other Hallmark movies we watched this year. We also thought that the acting was better than average for a Hallmark movie. All of the actors did a good job. The grandfather was particularly good. The writing was standard fare for a Hallmark film, but there were a couple of things that made it more unique.
There is one thing that I hope isn't true but I suspect might be. The ratings for this movie were lower than most of the other Hallmark films we watched this year. After watching this film, I was surprised by this. Both my wife and I thought this was one of the better Hallmark Christmas films we watched, yet if you only went by the ratings, it wouldn't appear to be so. I sincerely hope that some people aren't being racist and voting it down because it is about a Hispanic couple (who are actually married in real life). That would be really sad.
I hope that you'll give this film a chance. If you like Hallmark movies, you'll probably like this one. It is a little more unique for Hallmark movies and this is something that I like about this film.
The Christmas Cottage (2017)
Horribly Written and Wooden Acting
This story is contrived to say the least but the writing, like the acting was lazy. Many details don't make sense. The leads have potential but never realize it.
The Mistletoe Inn (2017)
The Two Stars Were Good. Ironically, the Writing was Weak
I've watched several movies/TV Shows with Alicia Witt. She is a good actress. Her love interest in the film was quite good too. Her ex- boyfriend was very one dimensional, but his part was terribly written. It's ironic that a film about romance writing would be so horribly written. I would rate the writing a 2 out of 10. Weak, with one- dimensional characters and really poor dialog and phony situations (even for a Hallmark romance movie).
It's too bad the two stars didn't have better material to work with.
On a side note, I wish they would quit filming these things in the summer. Is it so difficult to film them one winter and present them the next?
Thunderbirds (2004)
Good Movie that Stays True to the Original Series
I grew up watching the Thunderbirds on TV. I was really happy to find this movie on Amazon streaming. People unfamiliar with the series may not get some of the jokes and things that they are doing here, but I was pleasantly surprised to see how true this was to the series. It has the same fun, adventurous attitude. It's sad that so many fanboys have decided to hate it because it isn't a carbon copy. It is OK to like both.
