Great show
3 February 2021
This is a very well done show not like most of the crap that is on TV nowadays. I think what I liked best is they didn't overplay the story. When I was watching it I really enjoyed it but they didn't hype up the cliff hangers so I wouldn't wake up the next day thinking I have to watch the next show, and sometimes would forget for a day or two. When I did remember I was always happy that I had something so good to watch and would watch 2 or 3 after my wife had gone to bed. It is hard to explain or understand because usually shows that are this good I binge through in 2 or 3 days, but I think it is from not using cliff hanging tricks to bring you back each episode. It is like they knew we are good we don't have to do that and because almost all other shows use those tricks when they aren't used it stands out. Reminded me a little of Fred Zinnemann's style especially his "Day of the Jackal", not the same but in that direction.

Best horror movie I have ever seen.

Clearly from the reviews this movie is not for everyone. I went to this movie with the biggest movie fan I know, and I tend to watch with a much more critical eye when I am with him. This is a slow paced movie and much of what carries this film is the absolute brilliant cinematography. The way this movie is shot is amazing, not everyone is aware of or appreciates that in a movie, they judge a horror movie on how many buckets of blood are used to make the film. While I was watching the movie I was a little disappointed with the ending, but while still watching the film I realized it made sense with the plot of the film and left the theater in awe the mastery of film making that I just saw. If you go to this movie you will either love it or hate it, I thought it was one of the best (if not the best) horror movie I have ever seen.

Way way better than I expected!

I was looking for a bad movie to put on while I was playing a computer game. Well pretty much ruined my game playing, I had to play at a much lower level so I wouldn't get killed and I would pause the game to follow the conversation all the time, I eventually gave up playing the game to pay attention to the movie. The low ratings are coming from people that think the more buckets of blood sprayed about the better the movie, they don't care about plot or the characters and the conversations between them. I maybe rated it a little high to counter the low ratings but if you like good movies that are well made you will like this movie however if you are just looking for a mindless bloodfest you probably won't like this one.

Not for the critical thinker

Warning: Spoilers
Way too many unbelievable events. For me I hate when something that doesn't make sense happens and takes you out of what is the story.

This occurs all the time during this series, people just appearing at the right place and the right time without explanation, people behaving in a way that nobody would in real life doing things that just don't make sense. This is just bad or lazy writing. It is almost as if it was written as a joke or perhaps a friendly wager on how unbelievable they could make it and people would still watch it. It starts out doing it slowly but by the time you are most of the way through the season they don't even care if what they are writing makes any sense at all. Having said that I did still watch it to the end of season 1 and might watch season 2 if only for the reason of seeing how unbelievable it is going to be.

** Spoiler Alert **

There is no reason given or reason for there to be any connection between the killers and the oil company other than the implied oil companies are bad and of course they are involved. When the oil company villain is killed after breaking into the house to kill someone they hide the body and burn the house instead of calling the police in what was clearly a justified shooting. WHY!!!!! It just doesn't make any sense. This is just one example of many, if things like this don't bother you, you will probably like this series.
