The Creator (2023)
The Creator
I am always bemused at critics, especially Americans, who look at a film like the Creator, box it as Sci Fi along with drivel like Star Wars, then having categorised it to suit them, slate it either for their failings, or from a skewed point of view.
Yes, the basis of the Creator is science fiction, but if you categorise a film based on its cinema poster, then you have already ruined your own chance to see a good movie. Yes, Creator has robots, stimulants and an impossibly large spaceship visible on the edge of the atmosphere. Basically, its a story of humanity, not the race but the ideal. It is beautiful, it is very well acted, directed and produced. It is a film to give us hope before it is too late. Before the Americans make more stupid decisions. A beautiful film.
Jessica Jones (2015)
Good, but GAWD!
Beleive it or not, I really enjoyed all three seasons. The characterisation, the acting, really quite good. It's one MASSIVE failing I put down to the writers. To be frank, Jessica, and more so Trish continually show abject stupidity in the decisions they make. I know there has to be a building of tension for the storyline, but there appears to be a large amount of laziness in making the story progress. Unfortunately, it appears the writers made a conscious decision to just let the storyline meander by allowing, too often, acts of incredible foolhardyness. It detracts from what is actually a VERY entertaining series.
911 Crisis Center (2021)
Unprofessional call handlers trying hard to be reality " stars "
The call handlers on this show would not be employed anywhere outside of the US. They are rude, pass remarkable and VERY unprofessional in their attitude to callers. Everything that does not DIRECTLY impact the police is treated with disdain. On one show a caller reports noise directly over his house, something hovering and " growling ". Now, ridiculous as that may sound to us, any call to a 911 centre, to idiot people who are not on the scene and have, as yet, no clue to what is going on SHOULD be at the very least be treated with respect. This could be a caller with mental health issues. Like the numerous callers reporting " strange lights in the sky, who are similarly rudely commented on by the imbecilic call handlers. NONE of these people would be employed in such a job in the UK or Europe. Want to know what is intrinsically wrong with America? Watch these self centred idiots.
Dolittle (2020)
Ignore so called " professional " reviews
This film is intended to entertain kids, and adults with a sense of humour. It does exactly that. An enjoyable romp with humour and charm. Downey Jnr is as good as you would expect and the voice cast, perfect. Please ignore the so called critics, as one they are pretentious clowns. The only reason for the existence of a film critic is to demonstrate how out of touch with ACTUAL film fans they truly are. This film is what it was intended to be, entertaining, lighthearted fantasy. Enjoy. Critics are inflated egos with a damaged skill set. Or, Diddies, more correctly.
The Mandalorian (2019)
Star Wars..... finally.
This is the best thing that ever happened to Star Wars. A programme creator who realises " it doesn't need to be a clone of the failed modern movies, let it stand ALMOST apart ". Well done Jon.
Blood: The Last Vampire (2009)
Ignore " professional " reviews
As said by others, not a lifetime classic, but in fact something seldom seen from Hollywood these days, pure enjoyable popcorn fun. This film is made to entertain, and dont forget, it is based on anime, so it certainly hits its mark. I read ALL the so called pro reviews, and I am left thinking, how many of these pretentious, up themselves pure tosspots ACTUALLY watched the film? Dont you think that critics seem in all cases to be entirely ignorant of the subject of their chosen career. THESE reviews in particular tend to suggest the reviewers are just proving they own a thesaurus. Watch the film, its enjoyable nonsense.
