Blockbuster (2022)

Neat show

I've watched all 10 episodes and like most shows it takes time to get going. This needs a second series at least, as the premise is great and characters are now gelling! Is it Superstore or Brooklyn Nine Nine - no it's becoming its own show.

The last ever Blockbuster trying to survive I the streaming world is great and something we all secretly want, its like finding that shop with the vinyls we love. Watch all the episodes is my advice, the dynamics between the characters gets better and the core storylines improve.

At the end of the 10th Episode I found myself wanting to watch more and see what happens next with characters.

The Bridge (I) (2013–2014)

Don't compare to the Danish-Swedish watch this in its own right!

Lots of reviewers talk about the Danish-Swedish version and how this doesn't compare favourably..as someone who has been watched a lot of Scandic Noir (Killing, the Bridge etc) this series works in its own right.

The show uses the challenges of USA-Mexico border issues, the politics, crime and reality of what is being faced. This adds a great dimension to the series and whilst the story arc is similar to the Danish-Swedish original, the characters are different, yet very good.

The I teractio. Of the detectives, families, plus other characters (interesting development of the journalist character) makes this a great series. It also uses the landscape to great effect, the people, the different jurisdiction s - local police Vs federal police, the corruption and more. If you get to series two (which you should) there is great guest appearance, I'll let you find out more!

Well worth watching!

Stargate: Atlantis (2004–2009)

Excellent - deserved more seasons

Atlantis is great and well worth the watch - spin but different, yes nicely tied into Stargate original.

Great characters, plots, story arc twists - having binge watched it perhaps too much Rodney? Maybe but everything evolved well although they struggled with the 'Taylor' character in later seasons, shame and they had an opportunity to be very different in terms of character diversity.

Great effects, sets and 'villages' on other worlds. 10 seasons like the SG1 gang, definitely! Studios do not know what we want!

The Other One (2017– )

Fantastic comedy and drama

This is such a good show the writing and acting are brilliant and how it all unfolds is just great. I've binged watched the series and you get comedy, drama, emotion and the scenes are just superb. It might be very British but it is very good.

Deadwind (2018–2021)

Great Finnish drama

Many suggest links to Bron/Broen because of the look of the lead character but this show owes more to Forbrydelsen in terms of plot. Yet this is its own show, well crafted, well written and great acting. Like many shows from the Nordic countries it blends well dark drama with the real lives, personal issues and local business, politics - just finishing season two and loving it.

Van Helsing (2016–2021)

This show is good, just finishing series two - don't believe the poor reviews, they can't have watched many episodes!!

Season one like many shows takes a while to develop, season two is good - watch all the episodes, there is an interesting take on the whole vampire lore - there some great episodes with great themes from cults, to abuse, to 'people changing' can they change? There some disturbing themes too - watch all seasons and then decide
