Robin Hood (2018)

A much better movie than expect - a fair review
26 January 2019
This movie was actually not as bad as many reviews written here. If a review said it's the worst movie ever, or giving it less than 5 stars, these people have not watched many movies at all! There are way worst movies that deserve a lower rating than what it's getting now.

Firstly, this movie uses a new approach, a mixture of modern sets, clothing, weapons, etc. with an old story we all know about. To enjoy it, you must keep an open mind. The acting is good, though some lines are slightly cheesy but forgivable. The action is also enjoyable for a Saturday night movie.

All in all, this movie may not be a blockbuster but it's enjoyable enough as an action movie with likeable characters and some cheesy scripts.

New Season, New Character... not bad at all~
26 September 2018
It is undeniable that the show will never be the same without Clayne Crawford as Riggs. Through the 2 seasons, Crawford successfully created his own version of Riggs and we loved it. And as we are repeatedly reminded in the first episode of season 3, we miss Riggs, but the show/life must go on.

When the news first came out that Crawford was taken out of the show due to his behaviours, etc. I was genuinely surprised and disappointed. Especially when Crawford publicly apologized but Fox still decided to let him go. Did Crawford really did something that was unforgivable? I don't know the details to comment on this and I do hope to see Crawford again in other shows or movies and wish him all the best.

Back to the show, and let's jump to conclusion. Is the show worth continue watching? Yes, it is. After watching the first episode of season 3, it reminded me that although the character of Riggs is irreplaceable, we shouldn't forget about all the chemistry that made this show enjoyable in the first place. The Murtaugh family, Avery, Bailey, Dr. Cahill, the action, the jokes, and the destruction everywhere even with the most trivial cases. Can Sean William Scott fill in for Crawford, maybe not. But I can foresee a new chemistry/partnership that can continue to make is show great in a different direction.

I think if you liked the show before, you should give it a try instead of giving it up just because a character is gone.

Suits (2011–2019)

Best show. Period.
23 August 2018
Suits is currently one of the best show on TV, with it's witty script, story, relationships, etc. etc. (watch it for yourself) When announced that 2 main characters are leaving the show at the end of season 7, it worried me if the show can keep up with it's magic.

6 episodes now in Season 8 and it hasn't disappointed me a bit. Yes, we all miss Mike and Rachel, but allowing more air time for all the other charming and distinctive characters in the show, developing the bond in the firm truly hooked me in the show even more.

This review is not to explain how good the show is, but just a piece to express that even with the loss of 2 of my favorite characters, this show has lived up to its expectations.

I find myself with a smile at the end of each episode for this season.

Watch it if you haven't already.

Rambo (2008)

Exactly what to expect from a Rambo movie
22 August 2018
First off, I'm not a Stallone fan but this movie gave me what I was looking for in a Rambo movie. Was suddenly craving for an action film and watched it again today in 2018 and damn this movie gave me the chills.

This movie has its flaws. Weak story, poor scripts, mediocre acting and probably too much blood and gore for many people. But having watched Rambo growing up, the only impression I got from Rambo was... as Rambo, you go in alone and you kill... ALONE! One man beats all. Rambo charges in and decimate his enemies both with stealth kills and his big as* guns.

Growing up, in numerous occasions, such as playing online games, skirmishes, paint balls, etc. whenever you see someone charging in alone fearlessly, the first thing that comes to my mind is: "Are you freaking Rambo???" and that is exactly the impression this movie gave me, one man VS 100+ men and still manages to save the day.

Like I said, there are many flaws in the movie and the whole movie probably doesn't make any sense. But I am glad Stallone made this movie and played Rambo. Heard he's making a Rambo 5 and I truly hope he can keep being the invincible "hero" that we grew up watching.

24: Legacy (2016–2017)
6/10
The importance of good acting from the lead, which is what's lacking right here...
8 February 2017
Being a huge fan of 24, knowing 24:Legacy coming out was good news. Anticipating with excitement, and watching it with lowered expectations after reading some reviews, it turned out... is the same old good, 24.

What's good with the old 24 was the intensity, the spying, story-line, plot holes, all the flaws and amazing acting by Kiefer Sutherland. With 24:Legacy, everything remains except for the good acting (from the lead mainly).

It's inevitable to compare 24 with this new show, especially when 24 only ended not too long ago. Having said that, it's also important to keep an open mind that as all the actors have changed, the chemistry of the show would also differ. All in all, the story is as expected (good old CTU), the intensity is there, the constant search for the mole through the story, basically everything we enjoyed from 24 is replicated. So if you're looking for something new, this may not be for you. But if you're never tired of the same old 24, then you may enjoy this.

With all that said, there is only one problem. The lead actor, Corey Hawkins, playing Eric Carter. One of the main reason 24 was so great was because of Kiefer Sutherland. Until this day, I could still picture Jack Bauer in my head of how he would react and handle different situations and national crisis. Unfortunately, Corey Hawkins does not live up to this legacy. 5 mins in the show and I realise his acting is not up to par. Blank facial expressions, poor action scenes, with little to none chemistry with other actors/actresses. Having only watched the first episode, I truly cannot understand and relate at all what this character Eric Carter is, which is pretty much the main job of an actor. Now fortunately, the supporting roles were done properly by all others. Whether it's Carter's wife or his brother, CTU members, and even the terrorists, all performed on an acceptable standard.

There's no one TV series or movie that's perfect. So, accepting one's flaws and enjoying the show is all we, as audiences can do. But, if the acting of the lead does not shape up, that's too much of a flaw to bare and I might just give up after a few episodes. Let's wait and see.

For now, I'll give it a 6/10.

3 years of expectation and this is.....
24 January 2005
As a HUGE fan of Stephen Chow, (and i mean huge as in; watched each of his movies at least 50-100 times) this movie was suppose to be like water in the desert for the thirst of his fans.

However, and unfortunately, after 3 years of waiting since "Shaolin Soccer", I must say that this movie clearly shows Stephen has lost the 'touch' he had with "Shaolin Soccer". It's not quite possible for Stephen's fans NOT to compare this movie with his last one, especially after such a long period of waiting, and the similar special effects that was used in both movies. And in comparison, this movie seems to follow the tracks of "Shaolin Soccer" too much, which doesn't give the same excitement, surprises and laughters.

The plot of the movie itself leaves many question marks for audiences. Not only a lot of the parts of the movie doesn't make any sense at all, a lot of the scenes were also quite meaningless and useless, which could be placed with better scenes to complete the story a lot better.

The Music, Actors, Sets and the whole movie production itself was quite fabulous and has definitely gone much more international than his precious movies. If you're also a fan of Stephen Chow, you can probably tell that this movie has some resemblance of his movies "A Chinese Odyssey", where Stephen tried to reduce the humor and added more importance towards the music and production as a whole. If the movie could reduce the comical effects and emphasize more on the plot like he did in "Flirting Scholar" or "King of Beggars", this would be a perfect movie for his first official Hollywood movie.
