At Eternity's Gate (2018)
The detail and accuracy of Vincent's life was phenomenal
I consider myself very knowledgeable on Van Gogh and I though that this film did an excellent job of recreating his life and struggles. Not only his mental disorders but also the technique used to show Vincent's visual impairment. It is a horizontal effect that seems to reflect how difficult his process was for him. The issues he had with the town, Arle and how most citizens didn't like him. The relationship and struggles with his friend Paul Gauguin. The visual accuracy of characters, the postman, his doctor, his brother Theo. All in all a great film.
Lady Psycho Killer (2015)
2 out of 10 is being too generous
The acting was bad and only out done by the horrible writing and storyline. So stupid. Just really bad. It gets a 2 out of 10 for the eyeball in the urinal.
Atomic Blonde (2017)
It's not an historical account, it's comic book fun.
It's a fantasy spy flick, come on, she's a "double knot spy" Jethro. I watched it at home and thought it was comic book fun. Some reviews I have read seemed to dislike that it was factually inaccurate regarding some of the politics of the time in Berlin. I don't think that was the intent.
It's got some good 80's music, nice looking actors, and great action scenes. Don't take it too seriously. If you find it too much of a stretch that a trim and fit C. Theron can beat the hell out of 12-15 soldiers throughout the story, than it's not for you. The acting is above par for the most part and I really enjoyed the retro look and feel.
