Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024)

Seriously.. the initial Godzilla remake back in 2014-16 with Brian Cranston was 100x better than the last few Godzilla/Kong movies.

The second Godzilla. King of Monsters had the ability to separate itself from the pack and to think all that they had to do is listen to actual Godzilla fans. The monsters are great, the kids aren't.

-We don't care about kids/teenagers/families in a Godzilla movie. Godzilla should be the star of the show.

-We don't want the story to revolve around kids.

• Stop with the one liners Hollywood has become so accustomed to. Godzilla should be a rather serious movie not a Marvel/DCU flick.

-Fire your writers for crying out loud. The story is SO, SO bad. It is beyond cringe.

-Get a decent couple of adult actors. (I mean the scripts are so bad i don't think i've ever seen Vera Farmiga in a worse movie than the second film. Decent writing pulls decent cast. Poor writing if you're lucky you'll get the Rock or Mark Wahlberg.. (Please don't)

-Watch the anime series of Godzilla or even the original films, they have a substance you guys will never create.

It is called passion.

Not everyone has an IQ of 60 and the ability to sit through this garbage for 2 hours. Sometimes i wish i was a complete moron. Then i could happily enjoy the endless dribble Hollywood pumps out.

Nothing but lies and the same old cliche of American crap when it comes to history and war.

We all love America for invading or fighting in 84 of the 193 countries recognised by the United Nations.

Whilst the acting is good and it is visually beautiful, this film fails for the same reasons as many others of this genre.

Inaccurate in so many ways, only an American can create a war movie that is basically a just promotion to join the marine core and make Americans look hardcore..

God bless America and its blind servants. I'm ashamed to be an Australian and an American ally.

I knew this was going to be utter garbage and it certainly didn't disappoint.

I genuinely feel sorry for anyone ignorant enough to still find themselves paying to see a Jurassic park film at the cinema.

Unless you are six years old avoid like the plague.

Everything about this movie is trash except of course for the CGI.

To think Chris Pratt was paying out on Israel Adesanyas fight for being lacklustre. I'm damn glad he apologised to Israel for bagging his performance.

Making us sit through this movie was a whole new low and don't you ever pay out on a sportsman for a poor performance. These Jurassic park sequels are amongst the worst movies i have ever seen.

To say this movie is lacklustre would be far too kind.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny (2016)

The first movie was beautiful and authentic. First problem i found was the No Chinese dialogue. Why would you do this?

I can only imagine the aim here was to pander to the very low IQ base of the common public that simply cannot read, let alone watch a movie with subtitles.

Hearing them speak English with no option for Chinese dialogue is a deal breaker.

Naturally this was never going to be as good as the original, but it would of been so much better in Chinese with subtitles.

The action is still not bad, the story not nearly as good.

All in all an Americanised version of the original made to appeal to the masses.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)

Not a bad movie, but why o why must every reboot of a popular movie/series have kids as the main characters.

Just like Godzilla, Spiderman (The list is endless) why must we have to watch 12 year old perform the most ridiculous actions (Expert McGyvers able to perform hacks, lock picks etc etc)

We get it it's cool to include kids in movies but how about making your own story rather than just hand balling everything popular onto the kids.

Terminator, It, Godzilla, King Kong & Ghostbusters to name just a few have all sold their soul. Not to mention Star wars..

Just please stop turning popular movies into kids movies. When we were kids 30 years ago we watched movies with no kids in them and got along just fine.

Over the years movies like Terminator etc all went from genuine horror movies to action/teen drama/comedy.

Would love to see one movie made with some kind of seriousness and love/respect shown to the original.s

Ghostbusters Afterlife is ok but dont listen to the 8-10/10 reviews.

You see the old cast for about 5 mins.

The Matrix Resurrections (I) (2021)

Seriously?? How in Gods name do you ruin such a beautiful thing?

The original Matrix was revolutionary. Similar to Anderson Silva in MMA or Mohammed Ali in boxing. The first movie mesmerised everybody! The script, the acting, the fighting choreography. All top notch. At least 8/10

The Matrix Revolutions whilst never realistically being able to live up to the original masterpiece, still gave you some of the best action scenes ever put to film. The world itself seemed bigger, more dangerous and the film itself was elaborated rather nicely. A solid 7/10.

The Matrix Revolutions started slower than Driving Miss Daisy and never really reached close in my opinion to delivering some unique content in which we had become accustomed to the previous 2 films.

It was long, boring and some of the actors were horrible, spending far too much time on characters you did not really want to know about. But the story ended and even if you're not a fan it could easily be given a 6/10 just for having the standard anti climactic finish to a revolutionary trilogy that in the end was rushed together based solely from the success of the original.

R. I. P Matrix, a disappointing end to something that could have been legendary.

Move forward some years and here we are.

The Matrix Resurrections. Fans (my self) go nuts and cant wait to see some inside story. Even if it was a bit average, no problems it will still give the same vibe/feeling as the first 2 hopefully.

WRONG!

This whole movie was like some stupid meme joke.

Horrible, horrible story that i will not ruin. The only part that made sense was the Neo & Trinity connection. EVERYTHING else was pure garbage.

Doogie Howser as the villain? Ooh scary.. Villains special powers - Even stupider than stupid could be.

You spend half the movie watching a bunch of idiots mill around like it's a C grade version of "The Office" (great show.)

All in all i feel contrite even giving this film a 5.

Yet again such a waste. It's no small wonder that Hugo Weaving and possibly Laurence Fishburne said no to this film.

If you go in with rather low expectations (basically expect it to be crap) and you won't be too shocked at how crap it actually is.

It's definitely watchable. But only just.. 5/10 And pls never give Mrs.wachowsk another Matrix EVER.

It was also your typical modern movie, in which they cant tolerate having a male hero. The ONLY spoiler I'll give is that Trinity is basically the one now not Neo.. They basically swap roles at the end of the movie.

Yea that's right.. SMH.

R. I. P Original Movies & even Revolutions now looks so much better.

Eternals (2021)

This is yet another marvel movie that sticks to the all familiar path that we have seen so many times before.

The CGI as improved but not much else.

Personally i wish they would stray from the path and allow some individuality. Think The Dark Knight.

Dare to be different, but stick to the source. Know what a title should stand for and plan accordingly rather than copy and pasting the script and the cringe Hollywood humour designed for every superhero movie. (Which is how many now? 20? 30?)

You'd think you would be improving after this many attempts.. seriously how do these movies keep getting worse?

The acting was half decent at least, you can't blame the actors here.

Run time was about 45mins too long, typically filled with far too many unnecessary scenes.

All in all. If you were to skip this you wouldn't be missing much. But if you're extremely bored or a CGI zombie (meaning you will watch any movie and think it's good as long as it looks nice) then by all means give it a crack. It is watchable, but just barely.

Arrival (II) (2016)

Not as bad or good as reviews make out

This is a very trivial film as you can probably tell by the reviews. It has the means of a great story with some slightly typical Hollywood implementation.

Do I think this was a bad film? Most definitely not.. Do I think this was a masterpiece as some other reviewers have made out?

No.

I think the actors did a great job considering what they were given. I enjoyed the movie all the way right up until the very ending. I don't mind a slow burn and especially something a little bit different.

But without spoiling the movie i will say, that if you are not prepared for a typical Hollywood ending. Then stay away and do not watch it.

Until the end of the movie i would of rated a solid 8, but the manner in which the ending occurs is both extremely trivial and rather pretentious.

But my god people... when will we ever stop with the 10/10 & 1/10 method of scoring? The worst movie in the world might get a 1/10, might.. This is not it, and even if the ending kinda ruins the movie it was still a decent movie.

6-7/10

Just don't expect action and do expect a decent slow burn of a story with a slightly stupid ending.

40 minutes of awesome battle scenes. 120+ minutes of annoying kids and a garbage plot.

Token child actor under 10 getting more screen time than Godzilla or Kong. (Tick) Boring/stupid plot (Tick) Little girl teaching Kong sign language..PLEASE!! Some of us have an IQ over 60. Stop assuming the audiences is going to be full of idiots.

Horrible acting (Tick) Name one decent performance in this movie, i dare you to find one.

Worth the watch but honestly you could basically just skip straight to the battle scenes and it will make NO difference plot wise. You will be missing absolutely nothing.

If you guys just listened to the reviews, the results would be amazing. Go back to the Godzilla/Kong roots. Not this modern Hollywood crap that's tailored for the mentally imapired.

Monster Hunter (2020)

Exactly what you would expect from a film starring Milla Jovovich

Monster hunter to me was exactly what i thought it would be. It's your run of the mill CGI movie starring Milla Jovovich. I gave it a 4/10 for the CGI, unfortunately there was nothing else to score..

Acting? What acting? Dialogue is far and few in between.

Story? What story? There was literally zero story. It extends as far as Milla and group get stuck in storm, which some how wormholes them through to a different world. Where they fight monsters. The end. Yes, really.

I'm not mad after seeing it though, i knew this was exactly what it was going to be. One day maybe they will surprise us and add some kind of a story to these movies and maybe even twist. Just so utterly predictably like every other CGI flooded movies these days.

Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)

Dumb on so many levels

My understanding of the story line. There really was no story line. Same old, same old John Connor oh you're a MAN. Bang you're dead. Pass the baton onto the female franchise. Insert whaterver her name was i forgot the lead characters name already. She's basically the new John Connor for whatever reason. Also replace Skynet with Legion.. there were done here.

Next, the most annoyingly dumb moments that were hard to process.

1. If you're a guy, you are going to die. If you're a female, you will survive. These are the rules.

2. A decrepit Sarah Connor who needs a walking frame more than a shotgun plays the cameo of badass grandma vs yet another terminator. The end result? An endless comedy. She even takes out 2 cops unarmed.. Man.. the old terminator movies used to be like sci-fi/horror not sci-fi/comedy..

3. A terminator with a family portrait, when asked about said portrait of son and wife replies to Sarah "I met his mother, Alicia, a few months after i killed John." Seriously WTF? That is beyond forced. Arnie after killing John apparently has no mission and therefore turns into the modern family guy, again has a kid. But hey guess Nano sperm is a thing now even in Arnies old model.

4. Same old same old. Protect this person because they're the ONLY person that can apparently say to other humans. Hey.. let's fight the robots instead of each other. We can win.. blah blah - copy & paste cliche speech. So protect that young girl at all costs!

5. Why is Arnie ageing as a terminator at all? I understand not wanting to use cgi but this is just stupid. Arnie, just say no PLSSS.

6. Terminator chases the girls onto a plane just taking off. Plane takes off and Arnie & terminator fight on the cargo bay door. Of course terminator goes falling off after a couple of minutes. But guess what? He can magically teleport himself into ANOTHER plane and catch up them, ram them and jump on board the plane again..

FFS...

R.I.P I'm officially done. I knew it would be your typical modern crap remake, took the punt and paid for it. Oh well. Serves me right.

James Cameron, pull your finger out and go back to making Terminator films that were scary not this PG family crap. Makes me want to vomit.

Session 9 (2001)

Psychological thriller not a horror movie

After reading the review of one Mals13 who was up voted as the "most helpful" review of this title, i thought i would give it a watch.

Mals13 stated that he worked in a video shop and that when people asked him to recommend a good horror movie he would point them in the direction of Session 9. First off, this is NOT a horror movie. It is a psychological thriller with a very minute horror element.

He was right about one thing in that the actors all done a good job and that the characters portrayed your every day people not your usual fake, Hollywood trash you see in horror films.

Mals states that it is the creepiest horror film he has i seen in years. I say Mals must not be much of a horror fan at all. He even states that the twists are a bit anti-climatic. Then proceeds to rate it 10/10 .. come again?

It's a good watch, but not a horror film or a great film imo. It's all been done a thousand times before. Nether the less it is a decent movie worthy of your time if you're into psychological thrillers.

But please do not call this a horror movie. Apart from a slightly scary setting of an old asylum (If you'd even call it scary) there is nothing that will leave you scared about this film.

Jurassic World (2015)

Wow, has humanity really gotten this dumb?

Good job Tv, media, government. You have finally done it i think. We as humans have officially become morons in the masses. Who cares about anything in a movie anymore? As long as it has good CGI hey? People rating this from 7-10 stars were either dropped on their head at birth or have spent their whole lives in front of the tube watching pure rubbish, making this seem good.

It fails on EVERY single level bar CGI. *Characters are complete idiots, bar Chris Pratts and what do they make him do? Train Velociraptors to help him fight the big bad dinosaur.. *Story. Yes it's Jurassic Park it doesn't need a great story after the first one, but anything is better than this.. *Acting, nothing memorable, not abhorrent but not overly good either, but hey how can you expect the actors to be memorable with those characters? *CGI. Top notch.

Hell that's a 10/10 right there..

To all those who rated this film 9 & 10/10. Thank you for degrading the intelligence of our species.

You idiots. You prove time and time again that you will watch anything with CGI. But hey throw in a master piece of an R rated film with violence and that's a horrible, disgusting movie..

Conan the Barbarian (2011)

Is Hollywood really trying to make people dumber for having watched rubbish like this. The Second scene in the movie shows a 12yo Conan take out 4 fully armed and grown men unarmed. Apparently even though he weighs about 45kg max it was no problem to over power them. He also knew martial arts..

This is close to the stupidest thing i have ever seen in a movie.

*If you are a fan of Conan like me, just don't watch it. *If you have even the slightest bit of intelligence, just don't watch it. *If you have a shred of decency for yourself, do NOT watch it.

If you are an idiot, watch this movie and rate it in between 7 & 10.

That is all. Don't say i didn't warn you.

Edit: I forced myself to watch the rest of the movie and thank god it moved on from kid wonder, but if the book was anything like this it must have been an incredibly small book. Other reviewers say it is true to the book. I say thank god that was one of the books i never read..

In fact i'm sure the book could never of been this bad. But as a book reader myself i know that some fans will enjoy even the crappiest of movies if it stays somewhat true to the book, as the original Conan movie with Arnie would be extremely different. But imo as a movie an Arnie B grader is better than Conan 2011 & that says something.

Funniest part of the film, watching the juiced up Jason Momoa struggle for like over a minute to pull up the 70kg max, girl on a chain.

Bring back the wheel of pain!

Black Panther (2018)

To be honest, i am not the biggest fan of any of the marvel movies. Most them have weak plots, lots of cgi and 2 years later i can't remember them. This film is no different to the rest. It is neither overly bad or good.

@ People crying about it being over hyped etc. EVERY movie is over hyped. If you havn't learned that by now then you have some serious misgivings.

Black panther turned out to be exactly what i thought it would be. Nothing more, nothing less. It has plenty of decent action, a couple of scenes in which you think to yourself "really?"

But all in all rating it 1 star says more about you than this film. Can people PLEASE start making their reviews AFTER thinking first. Don't let the over hype anger you and then rate it 1 star. It is both unfair and and unintelligent way to review.

All you see these days in IMDB is 10/10 and 1/10 with very few others in between, unless the movie has an adult audience. Maybe IMDB needs both an IQ and age test before allowing people to post.

All in all if you even slightly enjoyed the other marvel movies, you will enjoy this. It is the same old same old.

As per usual, the IMDB fan base has flooded the review section with biased trash. It's either 10/10 or 1/10. And a load of garbage in between. Both lovers and haters have points. I feel it's a good story topped up with a bit of trash to fill in the time. If you don't like gore, don't watch it. If you don't like nudity, don't watch it. If you don't like rape, incest and gay sex. Don't watch it.

It's a good watch if you don't mind these things. Personally i have gotten sick of the whole notion of what i call "shock value" in tv series. Killing off characters or having a rape scene purely because there's nothing else to do. And the men, wow! This show is actually rather sexist towards men. Women have all the power in this show, which given the age the show was set for really makes no sense at all. But i realise it's the in thing these days. Having a 12yo girl (let alone any 16-17yo) become a hero is just stupid imo. It's an adult show we don't need 12yo's running around acting hero. She is a good actor and does her job very well but just portrays a ridiculous character.

Decide for yourself, don't let the 99% of completely biased 10/10 - 1/10 reviews fool you. Both have their merits and it's worth deciding for yourself, don't let the die hard fans or haters decide for you.

Brimstone (2016)

Once again, forget the idiots that give this 1 star.

My god this is becoming a serious problem on this site. Whether they are religious or just plain narrow minded (or both) i can only assume. Maybe you were expecting a PG drama? Do a tiny google search for crying out loud. This a slow thriller. It starts off slowly, and doesn't tell you everything until about half way through. Brilliant performance by Guy Pearce. Seriously some of his best ever work. This is a sick, violent & very well made R rated thriller. Once again i must implore among the people reading these reviews to not pay attention to religious fanatics down voting this movie. Oh no, there's a crazy perverted priest. Not a priest.. History is full of religious wars, priests preying on the weak and innocent. If there was no religion, the world would be a far, far better place in my opinion. All it does is divide people and create war. Sure, i know plenty of fantastic people who are religious. But like any race/religion we all have a mix of beautiful & ugly people. Back to the movie.. For the first 20-30mins you will be saying to yourself "What the **** is going on?" But trust me, you will be rewarded. Half way through, the movie delves into the past and explains everything. A very, very solid & savage thriller. My favorite type of movie :)

As per usual on my reviews. Please people, do some homework. I don't enjoy cheesy romance movies, but if i do watch one by accident i don't review it like a piece of garbage. For the genre i'm sure those movies were quite good, even great.. Not liking a genre gives you no right to vote/review it. As your opinion is tainted before you even watch it.

Dark, gripping, violent, sick & i loved every minute of it.

Suburbicon (2017)

Rated under 5 stars by those that expected a "Pleasantville" type movie. This is an R rated thriller..

If you want the TLDR skip to the bottom. If you enjoy a movie with twists. Watch it. It reminds me of the work of Alfred Hitchcock. First off, I am not a Matt Damon fanboy. I thought the bourne trilogy was so over rated. They were a good watch, but that was about it. Nothing over 7 stars imo.

This will become a cult classic mark my words. The only reason i can fathom so many morons giving this 1-2 stars is that they are either racist or just plain stupid. I guessed the first and most obvious twist pretty quickly. But the rest.. Nope. I can usually sit down and watch any Hollywood movie and tell you within 30mins how the movie will end. Not so with this movie.

The biggest complaint i see on these numbskull reviews is that the movie tries to blend in too many different genres. What an absolute load of crap. This is a very well made, acted & sometimes damn dark but funny R rated thriller.

This will not appeal to everyone. I guess i can kid of compare the hate to some horror movies. You get a bunch of idiots thinking the movie is going to be a drama/ghost story and when they find gore in a horror, they instantly dismiss it as crap. The idea of horror truly goes over most peoples heads unless you are a horror fan. Suburbicon is very much similar. There is very little to no gore. Blood yes, dark humor yes, strange character behavior and twists, yes. I think people didn't even look at the rating, genre of the movie before watching it. It's a crazy movie. Maybe people expected John Wick type action i seriously don't know. I went in thinking this was going to be rubbish. Wrong. Mark my words again, this WILL be a cult classic.

TLDR I can only assume all the low ratings are from people who expected a Pleasantville type movie. If you enjoy a good R rated thriller, with a hint of Hitchcock, a dab of dark humor and a good script. WATCH THIS MOVIE. If you enjoyed Hitchcock, The Departed, this is similar but unique in it's own way. I really wish people on this site would learn to review properly. It's either 1-3 stars or 10 stars.. Do not pay attention to these reviews. Very, very few movies should be rated 1-3 or 10. If you don't enjoy the genre it's simple don't watch it let alone review it.

The Martian (2015)

Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)

I have been a long time Star wars fan. Not a Star wars crazy fan, just a fan.

The original 3 were absolutely amazing for it's time.

But giving this 1 star out of 10 in my opinion just says you are an inept sook.

YOU KNEW DISNEY HAD TAKEN OVER.. WHAT DID YOU EXPECT?

The rating are rigged on IMDB. No way it should be sitting at 7.4 as we speak.

BUT..to give it a 1/10 just says you're a salty fan boy.

Yes they destroyed Lukes character, but that is not enough to give it a 1/10.

I watched it twice just to be sure. I am positive people are over reacting.

I find it similar to the force awakens. I didn't like it, but i'm 38 years old. Disney do not make adult movies.. All they wanted to do was kill the old characters & replace them with a younger cast in order for them to milk the next 3-5 movies. Same as Wolverine.

But, when you stop and consider this as a kids movie for the next generation. I feel 5 stars is worthy.

1 star has to be so, so bad and this movie is not. I probably won't watch it again. But it is still worth more than 1 star.

At least give it a 3-4 rating as a "MOVIE" 1 just shows you're a salty fan boy.

USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage (2016)

Not anywhere near as bad as these Transformer fans say.

Anyone that gives this movie 1 star in my opinion is an absolute fool. If people actually researched movies rather than just watch them, it might help this title. Most of the 1-3 star reviews are all crying about the horrible CGI.

THIS IS A LOW BUDGET MOVIE...WTF DO YOU EXPECT? As soon as i seen Mario Van Peebles was the director i instantly knew this would not be a AAA title.

I think this movie cops so much flak because half of the people reviewing it expect it to be transformers or a top notch CGI filled shark fest.

Just because Nick Cage stars in a movie, does not mean is a big budget movie. I'm kinda neutral when it comes to Cage, but i thought he honestly done a good job. He was given a role and he played that role like you would expect him to.

The story is pretty factually correct. Typical American government willing to sacrifice their own people with the purpose of hiding the damning truth.

If you're interested in the story and don't need your typical AAA CGI effects. This is a pretty decent movie and well worth the watch. Sure it's not a masterpiece, but it's certainly worth more than the 1-3 stars a lot of CGI idiots gave it.

For the budget these guys worked on, it was pretty decent. There are like 2-3 scenes in the entire movie that have horrible CGI and all of them were when sharks were leaping out of the water to attack. I got over it, i knew the budget & therefore it did not worry me.

People on this site really need to grow and learn how to review titles based on their merit. You cannot compare low budget movies with likes of the hobbit, which got a rating of 8 stars. Consider if you have read the book of the hobbit, how horribly they replaced the real story for a pathetic elf/dwarf love story with CGI going through the roof. Anyone who had read the books would not rate the movies more than 6-7 out of 10. Why does it sit at 8 or above? Because of all the stupid CGI addicts, that think CGI is preferable to a good story.

When rating a movie, please, please use your brains. Allow for a low budget or if low budget is not your thing. Just do not watch it or review it please. You guys are ruining reviews for the rest of us.

Focus should always be on A. The budget. B. The Story C. Music/Atmosphere D. Acting E. CGI

There are more aspects, but for now all you scrubs please stick to these 5 points. NOT just CGI..

This was a pretty good movie for the budget. Comparing it to Pearl Harbor really reflects the stupidity of some people reviewing the movie.

I knew it was a B grade movie and it was 7/10 for a B grade movie in my opinion.

I rate this 6 out 10, due to the fact that the movie was pretty well done. The acting was fairly decent and the story was imaginative.

This movie will keep you interested from the very start,right up until the credits.

To be honest thou. I found Zeitgeist the movie to be both more informative and probably accurate. Osama Bin Laden, biggest scapegoat in human history.

Whilst the movie itself is perfect for all the sheep out there. It shows some finality in the fact that the worlds so called biggest "Terrorist" is actually dead. After years of hunting him down.

Good fiction movie, worth the watch. But i don't buy into this war for a second. Bush is a crook, just like his old man. The buildings of the world trade center were designed to withstand the impact of up to 5 707's, possibly more.. 3 of the towers were basically demolished. It just so happened to be on the same as the U.S government was participating in a training exercise designed to help them deal with the exact same imminent threat. Making it perfect cover for the so called "Terrorist planes"

Sorry, bit off topic here. But, whenever i watch movies like this it just makes me think of the actual facts even more.

Remember, if you want facts & facts only. Watch Zeitgeist the movie. This war has been nothing but a hoax in many of the smartest peoples minds.

Also remember George Bush himself, directly after September 11, he is giving a public speech. Discussing "The terror & The terrorists" He says something along the lines of "Sadam Hussein, I mean.. Osama Bin Laden has no where to hide"

Showing, he always had the thought of invading Iraq before Osama. George Bush junior has to be the worst President/ruler since Hitler.

Fact.

Anyways, watch this movie it has some great action scenes and story, even for a made up one. Nothing against the U.S people, but i honestly believe the nation was hood winked.

Thank god for presidents like Obama.
