Mr. X (2015)
4/10
No Story, no logic
21 April 2015
I stopped watching Bollywood movies but after watching 'Badlapur', I thought they aren't that bad and so went to watch Mr. X because of its interesting plot which made me realize why I stopped watching Bollywood movies (again).

The film starts abruptly giving a crash course for the character's life, whole character development in first 15 min with the song, after that the characters are dropped and the actors are allowed to do whatever the hell they want.

The movie insults the intellect of the audience by offering bullshit logical explanation to how the protagonist gains his powers and what exactly is his power set. Somehow, a chemical that he ingests not only makes him invisible but also his clothes!! He becomes visible irrespective of the light source's direction. It is more than apparent that they have bent the logic to their convenience like giving the power of invisibility to a piece of clothing which had nothing to do with the chemical ingested or the chemical at the warehouse, just to keep the character clothed whenever he decides to make an appearance.

The heroine is given a complicated and borderline artificial personality, also a not so subtle attempt to portray her as an antagonist which FAILS and instead comes out really foolish.

The only thing that made this movie different was the new antagonist, he really had a presence but fellow actors sabotaged his talent and made him look like a fool too. Anyways the reason I rate this 4 instead of 2 is because of the antagonist.

I know getting an original idea is tough but doesn't mean that the producers (and/or directors) get to pick out a movie out of the shelf and remake it into a monstrosity.

To the directors: Please invest some time and find a set of eyes with a brain to tag along with you when you waste money making movies which kill your reputation and the viewer's time.

Moral of the story for the viewers: Check (and believe) the IMDb score before you decide to go to a movie!

Could have saved a lot many lives.

Warning: Spoilers
First of all, entertaining movie, says a lot about what internet is these days. The only pricking flaw I found in the movie was that the FBI could have had the domain i.e "killwithme.com" blocked by the ISP, few got brains to use a proxy which also would not have worked since the murderer was blocking all non-local IPs. This could have easily resolved the problem, since no views, no deaths.

Rest, the movie was entertaining showing how everyone is a potential criminal and how the internet is the place where everyone releases the demon inside. A little more character development for the murderer would have made this movie better, couldn't quite get a hold of the murderer's ideology.

Ignore the last story
18 August 2013
I found the first four stories spine-chilling but the last one was a real turn-off. Come on, why would anyone mix up comedy with horror? This comedy horror mix up works for other movies which wanna go unconventional and doesn't have a decent plot.

Phobia 2 had these 4 superb stories, this movie surpasses its prequel by ages, fortunately CG was better in this one, the make-up artist has done a fabulous job. Direction is marvelous, the guy knows when and where to pop the horror.

If I had to rate the five stories individually, 8,7,6,9,5 (out of 10).

It would have been much much better if the fifth story was placed either in between or in the beginning. Concluding, download the English subtitles and do watch this movie.

An under-rated must watch
17 August 2013
The main goal of watching a movie is entertainment, this is one of the movies that meets it. Every time you insert a disk or open a file, what you will be watching is not necessarily going to be an Oscar winner and most times I prefer it not to be.

The story line is awesome, Asian horror flick based after all. But the directing and the final twist is what makes this movie better than the original. This movie has been really under-rated and is a must watch, it has done quite well on most parts for scaring me (I watched tons of horror and I started doubting that if scaring someone through movies even possible).

To be honest, after watching tons of horror flicks, this one gave me a fright after a long long time. It's saddening how horror these days have turned into torture porn, blood and gore. The reason most horror flicks don't pass the 6.0 IMDb wall is because they are unoriginal work patched and covered in lots of CG and loud screams to hide the poor effort, leading to the only "twist" by killing the protagonist.

After watching this movie I did not feel like, "God, why did I watch this?" It goes into one of the movies without which my life would be incomplete and I would be missing a good experience. Concluding, a movie with some clean horror and an interesting storyline (that's all it takes to make a good horror movie).
