Let's Be Cops (2014)

Comedies should be funny

I am spending as much effort on this review as they did on this movie.

Forget the sloppy direction,multiple continuity errors and bad makeup of which the crew should take some fault.

BUT, it was comedy that wasn't funny and had a lazy trope moral that was a Chekov's gun from the first 15 minutes. I didn't think Keenan could NOT be funny but he tried in this film, and Mr. quirky girl sidekick was a bit over the top in the bad way as the main guy. Damon Jr. was doing a horrible impression of his dad.

I don't know if that's worse or that the government green lighted a PRO cop movie during bad press for the militarization of the police and multiple counts of bad cops.They are getting predictable...I know the CIA helped give Affleck an Oscar, but damn at least have taste over at Homeland Security before you green light something like this

I DID give it a 2 because James D'Arcy was a great villain

If you are stating in a review this show makes you want to kill yourself?

Why is COmmunity a cult show, like MST3K,Freaks and Geeks and Firefly? Because it doesn't talk down to it's audience.

It's mantra is "Not everybody will like this, but the right people will love it"

Nothing is much true than that when it comes to Community...no laugh track like the often joke less sitcoms on TV today, pop culture references, Weird Al type parodies on lesser known genres of film and easter eggs and callbacks a plenty...one easter egg went 3 years to be completed (Beetlejuice shows up in Season 3's Halloween special after having his name uttered once in Season 1 and 2 respectively)

This ensemble cast grows and goes from harnessing their greatest insecurities one show to showing their strength to save the day in another (Pierce's immature want for adoration to sleeping with the Spanish Teacher so she would make the Spanish test easy after Chang's dismissal)

Other more highly rated shows give you unrealistic life altering personality switches in 22 minutes, only to have the characters regress to square one next episode, not this show.

Aside from the great writing, great actors and producers let's not forget the amazing direction (for the most part) wardrobe and script supervisor. The continuity of stuff that happens in the background, or having a RC car show up 5 episodes later when it is mentioned briefly in a tantrum by one character is A+ attention to detail, so much so I might say it is Streets Ahead of Glee or Modern Family.

Give this show a serious look...start at season 1...see the growth of characters and school...and you may find that unlike a giant cookie, too much of Community IS a great thing.

I really couldn't make it through this unfunny,non scary comedy horror film. One of two films I actually shut off in recent memory (other being the horrible Burt Wonderstone) Then again, doubt I am in the demographic and was not lighting a bong every 30 minutes. What I can say, is that the sloppy jump cuts, the inaccuracies of camera angles with character interaction and the HORRIBLE acting makes this one of the few 1's I have ever given out to a movie. You can show closeup of vomit...but can't have an actor show consistency in different shots.

The bad acting is apparent from having Paul Giamatti in the film. Giamatti is a good actor, yet he shines in this and using him as the measuring tool, one can see the two male leads as very community theater-ish.

If you like 'stoner films' I would assume you'll love this, if you are looking for something unique, this isn't it
