Not just a good movie, but the best soccer movie ever!
10 April 2007
There are plenty of excellent sports movies (Rudy, Hoosiers, Field of Dreams, The Lou Gehrig Story, Miracle, The Natural, etc.), but not so many soccer movies (Bend It Like Beckham,The Boys From Brazil, Shaolin Soccer, Kicking and Screaming). Of the soccer movie genre, few are memorable. However, Goal is not only a terrific soccer movie, it stands on its own as great drama. Forget about the cameo appearance by several world famous super-stars, what makes this movie compelling is a simple tale made very credible by outstanding performances of several little known actors. The direction is first class, and the music just adds to the movie's appeal. I could find nothing about this movie that was lacking. In sum it's a great movie that the entire family will enjoy...guaranteed, or your money back!

Fantastic Four (I) (2005)
9/10
True to the comic book, and very entertaining,
11 July 2005
There's nothing more disappointing to a comic book fan to see their favorite movie transformed into hideous movie (e.g. Daredevil). Some transformations have been good (Spiderman I), some acceptable (The Hulk)and some, laughable (Daredevil). Now comes one of my favorite Marvel comics of all time....the Fantastic Four. FF, the movie, works on every level; as a comic, an action movie, a thriller, and it works so well. The casting is true to the comic, the story line terrific, and it is sure to satisfy every FF fan. The question is, does it satisfy the non-FF movie goer? I am happy to report that given the level of acting, the story, the cinematography, music, and editing, it satisfies, and does it well. It is a great piece of the science fiction/ action genre that leaves everyone feeling satiated. I highly recommend t!
