Cronenberg Classic
6 July 2023
Cronenberg excels at depicting the most grotesque future where "surgery is the new sex", everything including cutting people and excaving organs is overly and overtly sexualized in this "Cronenbergian" world. Machines and organisms are merged together as people and technology evolve in a converging manner. Main idea of the movie was quite great but the execution was poor at times, and the social message that we should "clean our mess" and start to eat plastic was a weird idea and couldn't be implemented as well into the movie. Other than that the aesthetic of the movie was dark, grotesque and gave me the chills, settings and props served the story wonderfully.

Blind Chance (1987)

Great premise, hard to watch
6 January 2021
Blind Chance was built on a fascinating and intriguing idea yet the film feels like it's made mostly for the Polish audience or at least the audience familiar with 80s in Poland. Some scenes feel too uncomprehensible, and the director doesn't even bother explaining them. The three versions being built on mainly political, religious and scientific paths is another good idea of the film but the execution falls short yet again. Overall interesting movie but it's not fun to watch or even thought-provoking as it may sound.

A Nice Mix
9 December 2020
This movie reminds me of many other. Examples that first come to my mind: Nerve, because of the evil game that makes many people watch and some to suffer; Deadpool mostly for the action aesthetic and some in-between talks and jokes during the action scenes; Upgrade, probably just because the Harry Shooter gets an upgrade at the start of the movie and the city's cyberpunk looks also makes me think of Upgrade; Scott Pilgrim because of the protagonist's personality and the main premise of "getting the girl". Other than that it has the aesthetic of Edgar Wright's action comedy and Guy Ritchie's actiom style (though not that successful). Camera movements and effects (especially slow-mo) is a bit overused but nothing other than that bothers. It also has the x-ray effect from Mortal Kombat. All in all it mixes bunch of movies and styles and becomes an unoriginal but entertaining movie.

Funny Games
19 August 2020
Though it may be controversial this movie is more "funny games" to me than the actual Funny Games (1997). It contains more gore especially in the second half and the tension gets higher and higher. The end is predictable and the film gives hints along the way but that doesn't spoil the fun at all in my opinion.
